Just the bushing on the right side.

These guys would like to become sponsors of VentureRider.org You folks have no idea how many sponsors I turn down here. I have to be sold on the company and/or product before I will consider it because I want to only recommend great products and companies and I don't want to clutter this site with banners. I try to limit the number of banners to only a few at the upper right of our site and keep that number down so that each sponsors banners comes up often. That being said, what are your opinions on this windshield? http://www.baggershield.com/

I love that gun. Back when I used to hunt a lot, my favorite deer rifle was my Ruger International. Bolt action .308 with the same stock. Was my all time favorite rifle.

While the one from IMC would do the job and certainly be easy to install, I don't think I would like it near as well as the Mic Mutes. There is one major difference. In order to eliminate the wind noise from the microphones, the rider and the passenger had to turn off their mic. Then to talk again, both parties have to switch their mics back on. Then I have to remind my wife, or myself, to turn it off again after I once again notice the wind noise. The Mic Mutes is different and, in my opinion, superior because it is integrated with the system. If I momentarily press my push to talk button, it enables the system...my mic and my wife's mic...and we can talk. To turn it off again, I simply momentarily press the push to talk button again and it turns my mic and her mic off again. She can do the same thing by pressing her push to talk button. For me, it is a much better integrated system than both people having to remember to turn their switches on and off.

Wing deflectors
Freebird replied to asigetic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
They look like Baker Built but I'm not sure about the mounts. It's been a long time since I've seen them and they no longer show them for the first gen. http://www.bakerbuilt.com/bbairwings/index.htm- 6 replies

Lower tree bearing question
Freebird replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've never done it either. Very sorry Ruffy, I hope that somebody can help. -
I agree. At the very most, I might pay for materials and only those that are delivered to my site.

Well in that case....uh........ never mind..... -
This will get you started. It shows how to check and replace the carb diaphragms. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19271

Lower tree bearing question
Freebird replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
WOW....Ruffy....if they will do it for even $80.00, that is dirt cheap. I don't think they have any idea what they are getting into. Even getting to the lower bearing on these bikes is a pretty good sized job. I don't know of any shops that will even pack the bearings for anywhere close to that price. I figured you would be looking at several hundred dollars to do that job. The complete fairing has to be unbolted to drop the forks out and get the bearing off. -
Starting and shifting
Freebird replied to MongoE9's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When you turn on the key, listen to hear if the fuel pump is coming on. If it's not, it does not necessarily mean that you have a problem, it could be that the floats are already full and it doesn't need to. If it does though, wait a few moments for it to stop before hitting the start button. It sounds like your floats could possibly be empty and you are not giving them time to fill before hitting the starter. The fact that it start consistently on the third try leads me to that possibility. It's not bad advice and these bikes do run stronger at higher RPMs but that does not mean that you have to do it that way all the time. If I am looking for acceleration/performance then yes, I wind it out. If I'm just cruising at a leisurely pace though I don't feel the need to wind it up so tight. You don't HAVE to be going 65 before shifting into 4th either. A lot of people run at 50 to 55 MPH in 5th gear if they are cruising on roads where that is the speed limit. -
The connections under the seat sometimes cause problems but much more likely are the connectors inside the fairing. Other than those two places, the next thing would likely be a faulty audio head. A bit unusual but it has happened before. I'm betting though that the connectors inside the fairing are the culprit.

Seeing as it has been setting up for so long, I doubt that just a carb sync is going to correct the problems. It is a good place to start and will only take a few minutes to try it but most likely, you are going to have some carb work ahead of you. At the very least, you probably have some bad diaphragms. It is easy to pull them out and take a look. Any problems will probably be obvious but you may need to hold them up to the light and search for pin holes and etc. Most likely, in addition to bad diaphragms, you will probably end up needing to pull the carbs and give them a good cleaning. If it has been sitting a long time then the old gas has probably gunked everything up.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I've seen way too much of that dreaded disease over the past few years and sincerely know the affect that is has watching somebody who is fighting it. I wish I had some words to comfort you in this time of need but I always struggle to find the right ones. Just know that you, your mom and family are in our prayers. -

It is always nice to hear a story about a good dealer. I wish I could say the same for my local dealer. About 3 or 4 years ago, I think it was Sleeperhawk that ended up needing a tire upon his arrival to Maintenance Day. That was before I bought a tire changer and we started doing them here. I called the local Yamaha shop and was told that they did have a tire and if we wanted to bring the wheel in and leave it with them, they could PROBABLY get to it the following day. We ended up taking it to the local Honda shop that did it while he waited and for about $40.00 less. The Honda shop charges $30.00 I think and the Yamaha shop charges $75.00. Needless to say, not only did they not get his business but they don't get mine either. I will never darken their door unless it's an absolute emergency and they have the part I need on the shelf. It's a shame too because the service manager there is a GREAT guy and probably one of the best Venture mechanics in the country as he started riding them and working on them when they came out in '83 and knows them inside and out. He is truly a good guy but the owner of the place calls all the shots.

Heck no...make her PAY PAY PAY. Congrats on the new bike though, I know she's gonna love it.

Well that explanation actually makes more sense. I doubt that Avon is any better at manufacturing a perfectly balanced tire than anybody else.

Well, I didn't find them on the Kohl's website but I did manage to find some on Ebay. Just ordered myself one. Here are some links. Some sellers are out of certain sizes so it just depends upon what size you need as to which seller to buy from. Really sorry to hear it Tom. I'm always amazed at how simple things can sometimes cause such big problems. Hope the meds take hold fast and you get back to normal soon...well...as normal as you were before. In the meantime, if you have any bananas, they are supposed to be really good for whatever ails you.
