  1. I think the only recall was on the '07 models for the improperly torqued head bolts. I don't know of any other actual recalls. As for the price, I would need to know what kind of aftermarket mufflers are on it. Most can be had for less than $500.00. Otherwise, it doesn't sound bad. I've seen them a bit cheaper but he's not robbing you.
  2. I'm going to say probably so. The big air kit combined with the larger jets and the free flowing exhaust probably did buy just a bit more power but the larger jets likely means that it came at the expense of fuel mileage. You may very well lose any gained performance but you will probably get better mileage.
  3. Congrats to you. I can tell from your passion for the organization that you will do a great job for them. Now when are you going to raffle off another bike. There was apparently some kind of mistake the last time because I was SUPPOSED to win it.
  4. It looks like the stator cover gasket is the only one that comes if you add the gasket to the order. I don't know what the price is on the middle gear cover gasket. I know that the crush washers are cheap. Somebody said that Rick supplies all three with his stator which would account for a few more bucks of the difference. Also, Rick's stator is supposed to be a higher output. If you are running or plan to run more electrical accessories that should also be considered. I'm not trying to convince you to spend more money if you don't need to but just want to make sure that we are all comparing apples to apples. Of course if you go with the higher output stator, you will likely also need a different regulator. I assume that Buckeye offers a rectifier that can be purchased with the high output stator. I don't know how it compares in price to the 120.00 regulator offered by Ricks Motorsports. Hopefully you are confused enough by now. The bottom line is, if the output of the stock stator satisfies your requirements, then the cheaper one from Rick's would be your best deal. If you need more capacity now or in the future, maybe you should give more consideration to the one from Buckeye.
  5. They used to make a different one. It looked like the CB antenna but was wound with nylon line instead of copper and didn't have the tunable tip. I have one on my bike but I bought it probably 6 or more years ago. I understand that it has been discontinued. I think that now most people just go with another CB antenna for the FM side and it seems to work just fine.
  6. Well, I just went through most of the checkout process at Ricks Motorsports. It looks like the stator is 140.00 and the gaskets are 8.00. Free UPS ground shipping so it appears to still be your best option.
  7. I did get an email response back from Rick at Buckeye Performance. He told me that the parts listed on the web site are already discounted. I did not know that. He did tell me though that he offers free shipping on those parts for our members. So, said that the other stator was $100.00 cheaper. If Ricks does indeed include the gaskets and also free shipping, they may be closer to price. I'm just not sure because I haven't bought one from either place.
  8. Oh well....I guess we missed something. The previous owner told me that he put a new battery on it about a year ago. I guess he didn't maintain it very well huh?
  9. I just sent Rick at Buckeye an email asking about our discount. I'll let you know what I find out. I tell you though, at 100.00 cheaper, I would probably go with Rick's Motorsports, AFTER figuring the price of the gaskets and etc. to see if it is still indeed significantly cheaper.
  10. If his website says 239.00 and that is what he quoted you then it sounds like he is no longer offering us the discount. I guess I need to contact him and find out. If he's not, I need to remove him from the "vendors who offer us a discount" area.
  11. Check with Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com Tell him you are a VenturerRider and you'll get a discount.
  12. Nope, great pictures and we enjoy living the trip through them.
  13. I've got one that I would be willing to send you and you can send it back when you are done. It depends upon how big a hurry you are in though. I am out of town so won't be able to mail it until Saturday. All I have is the tool though, no shim kit or anything.
  14. The one's that I got from Jake Wilson just last week are 0610 for the front and 4310 for the rear. The 0610 seems to be the only week they made the fronts.
  15. Somewhat dated style but I think they are good bikes. Our very own Ambassador, Wildhair has a couple of them I think and has put a lot of miles on them.
  16. I think that big air kit is for the older Royal Stars, NOT your RSTD.
  17. Here is another little test. This is for a first gen but it should be pretty much the same. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=811
  18. It's not as bad on a first gen. You don't have to remove the fairing like you do on the RSV. Repacking them is actually an easy job. If they have to be replaced, that is more difficult. The hardest part is probably getting the old bearing races out.
  19. Installing a Mic Mute would probably help a LOT in your case.
  20. You make a VERY GOOD point. I don't know what I was thinking. That's just what I need.....TWO females telling me that I'm wrong.
  21. I don't see them very often around here but last weekend, I was able to sit on the front porch and watch one spraying the fields across the road from us. Used to see them often when I lived in the Florence, AL aread but not very often around here.
  22. Well, I started out this morning by removing a bad idler pulley from the Snapper Zero Turn. Can't buy a new one today though so I will have to try to find one and then install it next weekend. So, pretty much was just taking it easy but now I had to get up and go run cold water in my eyes....trying to wash away that image of Yammer in his Fruit of the Looms. YIKES...hope it's not burned into my one good retina.
  23. Dang....she is still putting up with him. I keep thinking that she will kick him to the curb and maybe I can add her to my harem........but noooooooooo......... Congrats you two....we love you both.
  24. James, if I remember correctly, you have a PayPal account. Let me/us know what it is so that some of us who wish to help can send you a little something to help you get by for a few days.
  25. Corbin made the OEM one also. They made the option dual touring seat for the RSV when they were available. It will NOT match the stock OEM seat though. Only the optional seat that was once available from Yamaha. I have the Corbin seat with that passenger backrest on my '99 but mine came directly from Corbin and not Yamaha. The difference is that mine does not have the "star" logos but is just smooth.
