I was tooling down the road the other day and the vulchures were having lunch in the middle of the road. I though I would give a toot so they might dispirse BEFORE I got there. My stebel sort of made this squeaky sound and after maybe 3-5 seconds it finnaly started to sound like it use to. I tried it again a couple times today and same sort of deal. Any ideas? Do I maybe need a small shot of WD 40 in the intake of the horn so the compressor picks it up? I hate to think I'm gonna have to replace it.

Need to remove old gas from a 1984 Venture is there an easy way to do this or do I need to get a Sifen pump of some sort, was told that just putting hi test new gas in was not a good idea.

I am considering having my 2009 Venture "triked" next year (Hannigan). I have done a bit of research and price checking and I have some questions. 1. I currently average about 45 MPG with 2 up and normal legal speeds. What sort of mileage am I likely to get after the conversion? 2. My OEM front tire was still fairly good at 15K, what sort of tire life should I expect after the conversion. I also heard/read that using a rear tire installed to rotate in the opposite direction would extend the front tire life. The explanation was that it had something to do with the belts/plies compressions (beyond my understanding however).

I know my 84 has Mikuni Carbs. Is there a series, model, or part number for them? I'm trying to locate which rebuild kit to get and secondly (and most importantly) some sort of instruction sheet on how to rebuild. I have seen something on Mikuni SBN seres but I can't tell from the pix if this is what my 84 has.

She's probably going to kill me for this. This morning I took her to Rochester General for a check up on her heart. They found 2 stent had collapsed. The Dr. did her Roto Rooter Thing and replaced them with 2 new supercharged stents, so she will be better then new. She is Still in the Hospital and she has her note pad with her, So please send her a little cheer. She really doesn't like this sort of thing, So lay it on good and thick.

My effort to change the clutch fluid has come to a stop. I can not get fluid down the system from the top, nor will it take fluid from the bleed cock upwards, or 'reverse' bleeding. I feel that there is some sort of blockage but I am not a good enough of a mechanic to go from here.....Any thoughts????

I have an ulcer on the bottom of my right foot and they are doing a procedure called a "graft" tomorrow afternoon. I am suppose to stay off my feet to help it heal. I asked the doctor how long I will stay out and he asked me how long do I want?!!? I'm sort of thinking 10 months would be too long to ask for so in a month or so I will return to work. I retire next August!!! Guess you will see a lot of me on the forum for the next month...

Thanks for all of your help. Is there a device to hold the rpms steady when syncing the carbs. When you are doing it by yourself, there should be a throttle clamp of some sort or some way to keep precise rpms. Thanks again Midnight ryder:cool10::cool10:

OK I have a question. On the right side of the bike (when sitting on it) just above the window that you check your oil in there is a little tube (about the diameter of a wd40 straw and about as long) coming of a little plug type thing. Is this a vent tube of some sort or should it be hooked to something. I have never noticed it before and it runs forward and down like a vent. Open for info please advise:whistling:

Just back from my appointment with the ortho surgeon, and he said the fixator can come off in two weeks. :dancefool::dancefool: I'm a happy little camper. Also have referral letter to see orthotics department about making some sort of leg/knee brace. This is gonna be a long two weeks!! But hopefully at the end of it I will get to "live" and not merely exist.

I was just thinking about my first street legal bike, which was a 1975 Honda XL350. I thought it'd be a fun thread to see what sort of bikes y'all had as your first street-able bike. Kinda' like your first love, you never forget your first bike.

Got the Bestem bag delivered a while back. Just got around to checking it out on the bike (its in off site storage). Question for the group, or any of you that may have this bag. The one I received is not rectangular. The main compartment tapers to sort of a triangle shape. In looking closer at the website, you can sort of see that this would be the case, although the dimensions listed don't reflect the taper. Anyone have any experience with this? Still a great sized bag, just curious. Also wondering if the Yamaha stock bag is the same way ( I believe Bestem makes them for Yamaha)... Thanks in advance. Bob

a lot of the threads were pretty old, and I could never really gather a consensus. Does anyone have the Kuryakn Grips (Part Number: KY-6235) installed right now on their bike and how do you like them? Also...unless you do some sort of modificiations, I assume we have to LOSE the weights...correct? So if you have these grips...can you comment on them...good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks, Wally

I read the thread on windshield cleaners, but here is my problem: I have been using an aerosol cleaner with a wax in it for 4 years. Does a great job, but now the shield has what I thought was etching, but now seems to be a buildup of some sort. Anyone know what I can use to get that stuff off without ruining the w/s? I can't hardly see through it at night when oncoming headlights hit the shield.

Looking at Bub Sleepers and Baron Bag-Slashes for a 2006 RSTD right now. Not looking for anything too loud, just a good quality, good fitting slip-on. Any sort of consensus on this around here?

I have two questions about the diaphrams.... Question 1: I took a look at two of my diaphrams and one wasn't too bad. it was starting to get a little thin in a few areas, but not bad. It had some sort of lubrication on it, some sort of grease. The other diaphram has worn holes in it and no lubrication, it was dry. Is there some sort of lube that is supposed to be on them? Question 2: where is a place to get a decent price on 4 diaphrams? Thanks, Clay

I wondered if there was a way to sort members by state, so that say I want to take a ride though Ohio, I could look and see who lives that way and then start to recognize names that regularly post and try to get together for a M&E somewhere along the way.

I just calculated that my just retired metzler 'perfect 99' rear tire, lasted me for 16,600 miles. How does that sort of tire life seem ? Thanks, Brian H.

Need to rehab a tank badly. Bought a kit from local body shop but when it gets down to final stage (sealing) find it's not what I need or want, way to thin a product. Can you still get the "old" tank butter? Only name I know it by. Way I'd describe it is dries sort of a buttery creamy color, fairly thick and hard. I think it was a 2 parter some sort of epoxy material. Stuff worked great back in the day on old Harley and Triumph tanks. Used it on some seriously cancered tanks and it filled the bill. I'd just replace the tank but it's a custom off an 86' Kawasaki ZL 900 Eliminator, that looks better than the original and holds almost 2 more gallons of gas, so I need to rehab. Thanks for the help. Bull
