  1. Has anybody used this windshield as a replacement and is it a decent quality for the price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/83-93-Yamaha-XVZ-1200-1300-Venture-Royale-WINDSHIELD?item=140815088391&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1624150924259620255
  2. I am looking to get some info and somewhat get myself back up to date on the new ways they are painting cars and such. Back in the day, 20 some years ago while I was in the service. One of my jobs was to paint the helicopters I worked on. I went to school and such to learn it, and way back then we were using the standard Binks and Devilbiss siphon guns. My question to those in the know now, is this, what it a decent quality HVLP top cup gun. I dont need to be painting show cars or bike, but I'm looking for a good quality paint gun to replace my old siphon guns....let me know what y'all think.
  3. As to replacement brake pads for a 2nd gen. ( 08 ) . I am looking for any comments as to aftermarket brake pads, which brand, is the best quality to buy, in terms of " stopping power " ie: What brand works the best !!! Irregardless of the cost, Is there an agreement here as to the highest quality brake pads ?? :detective:
  4. Hi Guys! I have a 1980 Honda CB 750K which has an pretty old throttle-lock on it that I would like to replace with a more recent made, better quality one. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that isn't too pricey but which is pretty good quality? The attached pictures are what my current one looks like. Thanks for any suggestions! Be Safe! Pete
  5. Hey All, I have a question about the 4' flourescent type fixtures that many put up in the garage, I am looking for a good quality reasonably priced set up...can you help a brother out??
  6. time for a new headset. been using J & M for years, works good for cb and intercomb but my $10.00 pair i wear when walking sounds better for music. anything out there that has quality sound for music. I will admit my J M are about 15 years old. they may have improved much since then. thanks in advanced.
  7. Finding an original Venture Line trunk rack for my 1990 has been a fruitless endeavor. I like the look and quality of the Yamaha rack for the Second Gens., it is readily available and quality seems excellent (unlike the JCWhitney stuff). Has anyone out there in Ventureland ever installed the Yamaha Venture trunk rack intended for the newest Ventures on a First Generation, 1986-1993? If so, pictures would be great.
  8. I need to buy new air filters for the 06 RSTD. Anyone have suggestions on a vendor with a good price and quality? Are the K and N filter worth the money?
  9. Just curious for those that have installed an AMPLIFIER on their RSV's...are you happy with it? Was the cost of that upgrade WORTH the enhanced sound quality, or was the sound quality only slightly improved? Did you install in the trunk or under the fairing? Have you had ANY issues with the electrical system since installing this upgrade? I know there are several threads about what kinds, and how to mount, but hopefully this is a "different" thread. Thanks for all your replies. Wally

    tires

I don't post much here, mainly just read other's posts but I'm on quite a bit. What concerns me is the last few days I see other riders having tire issues, Avon's with the sidewalls cracking and tire blow outs. I kind find it hard to believe that us riders are negligent on tire care such as inspecting them, and maintaining tire pressures ect. What is the consensus that perhaps like alot of things now that the quality of materials are lacking? I guess in the back of my mind I'm thinking that the costs of raw materials in today's society that manufactures are going the cheap route, and lack of proper quality controls to produce a good safe product. When I get back to Pa. my other bike will need tires and I'm concerned on what to get. I put the e3's on the venture two years ago and couldn't be happier with the bike. How old can tires actually be to actually be safe to use? I realize that tires have a manufacture date, and set on a shelf for a while, but how old before the safety factor comes into play? Any other's see a possible trend here? Thanks..
  11. $89 NOT $64 Say's that is best rate I can have because of name change So just made reservations for Maintenance Day at Quality Inn (Comfort Inn) anyways. Guess I should have just made reservation and just cancel if I didn't end up going

We will leave about 8am ish for the rest of the run to Elyria Quality Inn (about 5.25 hrs). Any one want to ride with us contact me and we will work out the details.
  13. Just got my ironbraid.com leather covered chrome plated levers installed today. They turned out great! I have the two toned 2009 Venture and so I had the leather braids done in cream and black...turned out really well. I also cleaned and lubed the clutch and brake while I had them off. Here are a couple of pictures, sorry about the quality, I used my iPhone (didn't want to break out the camera). By the way...what does the adjustment screw on the brake adjust? the brake light?
  14. EBAY's deal of the day. Not sure of the quality but I ordered one... http://cgi.ebay.com/Live-Mechanics-Leather-%26-Casual-Jackets---11-Styles/360356083612?_trksid=p1468660.m2000036
  15. Seems I need to be able to carry a little one. Any help with a chair that looks good on a 2nd gen, good quality at decent price? Anybody got a used one that needs work? Thanks
  16. I don't know if I'm out of line by offering these or not, but I am a cellular phone dealer and have come across a great set of quality headphones. They have great sound, braided cables, several different earpieces to fit any ear(and keep the wind out), mic for cellphone usage, 3.5 mm jack to fit most cells and Ipods. If anyone would like a set I can offer them to our group for 49.99. I'm not set up for paypal -would have to be money order or cks. If interested you can email at vtludwig@ctcweb.net
  17. Beth and I both have J+M headsets for our half helmets. I forget the model #, but they install by slipping them in between the liner and the shell of the helmet. This year we installed the mic-mutes, and I love them. We have the show krome windshield on the bike, so Beth experiences quite a bit of buffeting and wind noise. The speakers cover our ears very well, and we both experience some heat issues and are generally not happy with the speaker quality. So, to get to my question... Can I adapt a set of ear buds to replace the speakers? If so...how do I do it? By doing so, we can rid ourselves of the heat issue in the warm weather...(we really noticed it on our last vacation ride to Texas), and improve the sound quality at the same time. I'm a novice at this type of retro fitting...so some very plain instructions would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance. gunk:hurts:
  18. This was a quick video from the trip back from MD. It was my first attempt at videoing while riding. The Youtube quality isn't as good as the original. It's also kinda shaky, I left my vent open, so there's more wind noise, and the sun was at our back, degrading the quality even more. I promise, it wasn't as scary as it looks. The music isn't added. It is from my stock stereo and MP3 at 70-80 mph, and doesn't sound too bad. We were having a blast...making memories. Angel is learning how to make the videos now, so I can concentrate on my driving. Hope you enjoy it. Go to full screen, and turn the sound up. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dla8PqzKNn0]YouTube- Going home from MD 2010[/ame]
  19. I'm going to try to post pictures of my bike with the covers. First of all - they are a pain to put on! Second, I think the quality of leather is a bit poor and maybe the person was in a hurry when he made them. I'm okay with it but not thrilled.
  20. I saw a tailwind trailer at the lime run this weekend. And while I am a ways away from getting to trailer towing, I liked the design, and was curious if anyone has one, and what you think of it? Here is there website, I am interested on anyone elses experience on quality, ease of towing, etc. http://tailwindtrailers.com/
  21. Does anyone has the Speaker Wiring Diagram from the 2e gen Venture ... I replaced my speakers a few weeks a go for the Polk Speakers.and I'm not happy of sound quality from the Bass. Now I'm wondering, do I have the right color wires in the right place. What color wires goes where?
  22. Just ordered and installed the R-Mark Brake Lightbar and thought I would share my experience. When I got the lightbar (yesterday) I was happy with the quality and also the ease of installing it. It went very smooth and worked perfectly the very first time. I did have some questions about the install and a small instruction discrepancy, however that was QUICKLY addressed through email with Mark. Excellent communication!! I paid $59 +$11 shipping and feel like I got a bargain. If you were on the fence about this lightbar either because of quality OR because of the install...don't be weary any longer...both are non-issues. The quality and operation of the lightbar is excellent and the install is very easy. Just wanted to give an update as to this product and company. Wally
  23. Was over at the Delphi forum and saw a discussion on the infamous Venture cassette. Someone mentioned an MP3 player that fit into a cassette but didn't specify a source. I did a little looking and came up with: http://usb.brando.com/usb-cassette-mp3-player-ii_p01481c035d15.html Somebody has to try one of these and let us know about audio quality, output power (volume), battery life etc. I wonder if the "skip" function would work - if so, it might be a perfect solution. (if sound quality is satisfactory and the rechargable battery is good for 8 hr or more) This same device came up in a number of locations searching on "cassette MP3 Player". Be careful because many of the devices that come up on a search are just cassette adaptors that you plug the MP3 player into while this can be used as a stand-alone MP3 or as a cassette surrogate. This one is a newer version that has a remote (not very useful on a bike) but also supports high capacity (16gb) SD cards. Thought I would throw it out there in case anyone is interested. Ross
  24. Has anyone installed these. I have a friend who did and I noticed a couple of the LED lights burned out. Was wonder about the quality. http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm
  25. I got a Zumo for Christmas and am not that impressed with the sound quality from the Mp3 files I uploaded to the Zumo. How is the sound quality from the GXM 30 when listening to XM Radio? Is it in stereo?
