  1. Christmas eve and I 'm a little put off at what I encountered today. Wife and I went to IHOP, a decent place for breakfast, we have a good one in concord, NC. We finished and the waitress bought our bill, wtitten on the back was "Happy Holidays" so without thinking I said how about a plain old Merry Christmas? she responded by saying they were not allowed to say Merry Christmas. the manager confirmed that the policy came from corporate, So I'm calling corporate to complain but I'm affraid I've lost a decent place to eat (because I do vote with my dollars) Whats your thought?
  2. Has anybody used this windshield as a replacement and is it a decent quality for the price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/83-93-Yamaha-XVZ-1200-1300-Venture-Royale-WINDSHIELD?item=140815088391&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1624150924259620255
  3. I found a set or Dunlops -Dunlop-491-Elite-II-Front-Motorcycle-Tire--134.99 and the rear -Dunlop-491-Elite-II-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire--155.99 I am wondering if this is a decent deal or is there a better place to pick something up. Thanks everyone:)
  4. Hi ... It broke this morning. Fortunately I was at home, and not 1000 miles away. Part is: 41V-26313-01-00 Cable 3, Throttle (1986 Venture Royale) If anyone has one in new or good condition and can get it in the mail in the next day or so I would be very grateful, and pay a decent price. Otherwise I will have to wait the regulation two weeks it takes any of those retailers to get one to me, because they won't drop-ship. Thanks Steve
  5. 929 has stop and led running lights. its 46 liters! i checked some other forums and have decent reviews. decent is better than what i have now...which is leaky and heavy. i know VR tried awhile back to do something with them but i ordered it anyhow. has a one year warranty. i like the lights. i checked Givi and Kappa, those with lights, in that size, run well over 200.00. this was 129.00 to my door. i will update with pics when i get it!
  6. I have read some much and learned a ton on this site. I live in the Metro Vancouver, BC area and have 99 RSV suffering from leaking forks. I have them out on the floor and have purchased all the replaceable seals, bushings, oil, as well as new progressive springs. Now work got super busy for me so I'm worried about getting the forks rebuilt in time for riding season. Yes, I'm a little intimidated too. Does anyone know a decent mechanic that can rebuild these for me so that I can get them back into the bike in the next few weeks? I don'd mind paying, I just want it done right since it was quite a bit of work getting them out and I have no desire to do it again. Much appreciated! Peter
  7. Guys if I dont get rid of these my wife is gonna go over the edge, look at these in the classifieds under RSV and RSD and make me a decent offer, they have got to go from behind my couch.
  8. I'm in the market to make a couple of purchases and I wondering if the fine folks of this outstanding forum would be willing to point me in the right direction. First, I'd like to purchase some red 'bullet' lenses for my rear turn signals. I've seen them around in some pictures but I don't know where poeple have been getting them. A little guidence would be great. Second, I'd like to buy a decent lift for my RSTD. I think I read somewhere that Harbor Freight Tools sells one. Is it decent and worth the money? If not, suggestions please. Thanks everyone. Les
  9. Man I must be getting old... Turned on VH1 and they had saturdaynight live on! Turned on MTV and MTV2 they had some kind of real life soap opera crap going on... Am I missing something??? these are suppose to be music video channels??? Where can a guy get some decent music videos to work out to? I have direct tv and know 801 thru 850 has music, but its a black screen... This snow is starting to sux
  10. A couple of items for the '86 I just picked up. The chrome side covers that sit beside the radiator cover (the triangle ones) and the lower center chrome piece that sits between the bottom of the saddle bags. If any of you 1st genners have these in decent condition let me kn ow as I would rather give my money to one of our own rather than a faceless ebay seller (although I'm sure they are nice folks too)
  11. Seems I need to be able to carry a little one. Any help with a chair that looks good on a 2nd gen, good quality at decent price? Anybody got a used one that needs work? Thanks
  12. Now go figure, why would they do that to me????????? Yep, those kids of mine just made me Grandpa AGAIN!!!! Can you believe that? I mean, what's with them anyways,,,, I can get older all by myself, but no,,, they all think that I need all the help they can give. The particulars: The young thing was a week and and half late, so of course it had to be a girl. She wasn't too heavy, but a nice size, 9lb 13oz, so not quite ready for work yet. Born today at 1:10 pm, so was decent enough to have lunch time over and done with first, at least she's starting out with the right priorities. Food then play! Name is Aislinn, Malia, May Hodgins. Quite a handle to hang on to, hope she marries a guy with a short last name. That makes 15 grandkids total,,,, nice number, most teenagers are really nice at that age. Picture will come when available,,,, they all look the same anyways, right?
  13. Hey everyone, two months after I sold my Road Star Silverado and since I've already owned all other incarnations of the Venture, I'm back in the market again. I originally thought I'd search out a MM. Very hard finding one though as the few I've been able to search out either the owner really thinks he has something and has priced it accordingly or I have to travel too far to kick the tires. I did find a 99' only a couple hours away that has 43K on the odo and has quite a few desired after market add ons and with a fairly desirable Silver and Burgundy two tone paint, and at $5,200.00 a pretty decent price. The reason why I like the MM, is I really like the color and you don't see too may of em' around. Are the 2000 MM really that hard to locate for a decent price, or should I just forgo that Idea and settle for the aforementioned 99'? I know it's more of a personal taste for the color and that is entirely up to me, but what are your ideas on what's out there and prices? is the 99' on the money?
  14. Last night my friend and modified my road king mufflers by driving a 1/2 in. rod all the way through the pipes. Now I have decent sounding exhaust, but I am concerned if I leaned out the motor too much. Opinions?
  15. Looking for a used set of floorboards from 1st or 2nd gen that are not usuable anymore on bike. Plan on using them to fabricate part of trailer. Anybody got a set laying around for a decent price plus shipping? Thanks and God Bless. Mike
  16. This might be a decent deal for anybody needing a hitch. Don't know the seller but thought I would post it for anybody looking. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-receiver-hitch_W0QQitemZ290411848531QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439de52353
  17. I've been wrestlings with the thought of a new bike. I have some trips I like to take within the next couple of years and well, I love my Blonde '84 but I'd be insane to try my luck making these kinds of trips on the old girl. I've had my GW's before and ran them for all they could give me. My last one gave me 180,000 miles of pretty decent service. Great bikes. I've been watching the RSV since I bought my '84 and hoping for some, well, modern features to be added. Not going to happen soon I'm afraid. I've been out looking over the bikes that have caught my interest and the one I keep coming back to is the BMW K 1200 LT. Much like the GW it's got some stuff that is over kill in my eyes. Power center stand, yikes, reverse, maybe need it later when my knees blow out again. Floor lighting.......floor? The saddle bags are decent but the trunk looks a tad small. I've read of a few failures on the drive lines/rear end and wonder if it's double U joint set up that is the culprit. The bike fits me well and and feels good for it size. I like the riding position on it. The motorized windscreen, in the tall version looks like it would be the trick for protection and road view. I think someone here has one and was hoping for some insight on the bike from a riders view. I know the maintance is $$ but that comes with the brand. I like this bike for the long haul type of trip. At this point a GW would be the second choice. Any input? Mike
  18. There were a few folks at maintenance day that wanted shirts but hadn't placed an order. I promised to find out if there was enough interest to place another order. If you didn't get a Maintenance Day shirt but are interested in one, please pose here. If there is enough interest, I'll order some more but there are minimum quantities required to get a halfway decent price.
  19. Anyone have suggestion(s) for a decent handle bar mount for my iphone 3gs?
  20. I have been a little distracted lately - last month a kid with a learner's permit made an illegal turn in front of my wife and totaled our beloved Jaguar XJ8. She was not badly hurt, so the biggest impact has been just the irritant of being ripped off by crappy insurance companies and looking for a replacement car. I'm not willing to throw money away anymore on the huge depreciation on a new luxury vehicle, so this time I went on the used market. Turns out the big Jaguar sedan is in pretty short supply out there - hard to find decent ones, and those move fast. But I finally found what we wanted and got her back in a decent car (and out of my truck!). Anyway, the whole point of this post is to advise anyone looking for a used high-end car to check out http://www.texascarsdirect.com. They focus mostly on Jaguar, Land Rover and Mercedes Benz, but also have the occasional BMW, Cadilac, Volvo, etc,. They do not deal on prices, but their vehicles are VERY clean and priced to move (and most go quickly because they ARE priced so fairly). They buy only the best from auctions in every state, and they inspect and take care of all necessary outstanding maintenance and wear items before they offer the cars for sale. They sell all over the nation, with lots of people flying in and driving home. The inventory changes daily. If anyone is interested in something they have, I'd be very happy to take it down to my mechanic for a full checkout and help coordinate whatever you need. Just thought I'd offer... Goose

Just for kicks I went and took a look at this bike today. Runs, needs starter and tires for sure. I guess these bikes have a following too. But I'm not sure. It comes with all the factory touring package...$600.00 Marcus Hook, PA I told him I thought the luggage alone is probably worth $300.00 to somebody who has one of these. It looks like a fairly decent project for a MC guy. Could make a few bucks on it, I'm thinking. Or a nice tourer for the wife? They are kinda fast thou.
  22. Planning a trip to the Dragon any recomendations on towns with decent nightlife/hotels/restaurants. Plus any scenic rides in the area. Any help appreciated.
  23. I am looking for a second 1st Gen and a buddy told me about this. I called the guy and he said it is in perfect shape but now I decided to wait for another one that is here in Texas. I thought I would show it t see if anyone else would be interested. Decent Price I thought Wilkie http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/1987-YAMAHA-VENTURE-94594570
  24. It's kind of a pain to add oil by removing the 2 covers and then the oil cap to add oil. I'm thinking of eliminating the cap (or drilling a hole in it) and running a funneled hose outside the covers. But it has to look decent. Has anyone done something like this? Maybe I should change to nickname to Mr. Mod?
  25. I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of these covers from this company for their RSV. If so was it a good experience and good quality. It looks like a decent idea as it is compact. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks Jim http://www.tourkingcovers.com/shop/
