  1. hey guys just wanted to throw this out to you I am going out of town tomorrow and I'm going to pick up a couple small parts of a wrecked 87 first gen. It's gold. If there's anything specific that you might need me to pick up and that we can ship later let me know. I will post a picture of the bike later .bike looks clean except front end hit . I will be at the bike location Thursday afternoon .
  2. I found a set or Dunlops -Dunlop-491-Elite-II-Front-Motorcycle-Tire--134.99 and the rear -Dunlop-491-Elite-II-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire--155.99 I am wondering if this is a decent deal or is there a better place to pick something up. Thanks everyone:)
  3. ..... were thinking of buying an Aluma trailer to use while in USA-- then bring it home??? Will depend on cost to ship home. Would purchase and pick up in Portland, OR Can anyone tell us the licensing laws in Oregon?? And will we need an OR address to license it??
  4. My niece and her boyfriend are stuck up north with a bike running at red line.Throttle moves correctly but the bike still red lines.I am going to pick them up now with trailer. If anyone has any suggestions please call. Thanks Ray 416-567-0055:whistling:
  5. Good news! Repair shop found my wheel spacer. Now I can make it to the Kootenays this weekend. Thanks to the guys that offered me a replacement parts. Now just have to pick it up, get it all together and take it for a:cool10: test. Markus(calgaryrider)
  6. Since it will be wet and the ground possibly soft. I will bring a supply of polished Stainless steel pads to put under your side stand (a pair also works well under the center stand) so we do not have to pick up to many bikes that might want to take a nap in the nice soft wet grass. It will be first come first serve.
  7. I am leaving on Thursday with a group of friends to ride down to Nogales AZ to pick up US 89 and ride it back North. We will be gone 10 days and end this segment in Springville UT then pick up the North segment in Sept. This is my 1st real ride on the trike and the 1st since the wreck last June.Needless to say I am a little nervous but I am so excited I can hardly wait,I wish we were leaving tomorrow.
  8. I am thinking of buying a Kawi Voyager on flebay and it is in Helen GA can someone pick it up and hold it until I can get it. Tom
  9. Any member live near Myrtle Point, Oregon. The reason I ask, is that I'm looking at some Lapidary equipment on ebay. The Seller is from Myrtle Point, OR. Shipping is $200.00 for this item. I would like to save on the shipping or rather spend the $200 in an enjoyable trip. What I would like to do is if I win the bid, is to locate a member that lives really close by and could pick it up for me. Then I could make some arrangements in the summer of 2012 to pick it up. What I could to do is take the lid off my M/C trailer and pull it with my 91 VR and take a weekend trip down the Oregon Coast on hwy 101. I'm from Buckley Wa. about 400 miles away. While I'm down there I would like to visit Bandon Oregon. About 41 years ago I attended the Millard Prep School there. At that time Millard Prep's mission were to assist young men to increase their College SAT scores to qualify for West Point-Army / Annapolis-Navy / Air Force Academy. Today I think it has been purchased by a church and has turned it into a church camp. Kinda like to contact them and take a walk in memory lane. Then I'd like to just visit the famous golf course called the Bandon Dunes. If any member is willing, please PM me soon for there is about 6 days left on the bidding.
  10. About 25,000 miles ago my 2000 venture failed and would not start.....after checking everything for several days finally figured that the pick up assembly (part # 4nk 81670-00-00) had failed. Its also called an Ignition pickup pulse generator. The first one I replaced was ordered through Yamaha. This time I will get a used one from Pinwill. What I would like to know is if anyone else has had this problem or maybe I am just special. By the way I looked through the forum and could not find anyone else with the same problem....Both times the pick up assembly failed it was in the my garage, a day or three after a long hard ride, 10hr 60-80mph.
  11. OK folks, I'm trying to set a date for Maintenance Day. I always have to squeeze it in between company meetings, trade shows, etc. At this time, I'm looking at Saturday June 2nd. There will always be those who have conflicts on whatever date I pick but so far, this seems like the best date. I'm just putting it up for your comments.
  12. We're in the middle of a long weekend in my home state Down Under. Last Tuesday (it's now Saturday) I had my bike booked in to the local Yamahaha dealer for a 40,000kms service and a new rear tyre. Was supposed to pick it up the following day after it had been allowed to cool so the valves could be checked or whatever they do at the 40k service. Mid-morning Wednesday I'm told that the 'parts' they needed hadn't arrived on the courier service and it would be another day. "No problems", sez me. I'll get a lift in to town with a work colleague the next day. That night the dealer rings to tell me that his mechanic has stuffed his back "putting my carbies back in" and is off work - hopefully back on deck "later in the day". He would let me know by 6pm if it's right to go by the next morning. I did not hear back from him so I cancelled my lift with my friend. I gave him until noon Friday to ring me but I heard nothing. Meantime the daily train has passed through so I've missed that. Mid afternoon I ring to see how it's going and I'm told that the job card is being written up "as we speak and she's right to go." "That's fine," sez me. "But how do I get in to pick it up?" (Mind you I'm 25kms out of town with no other wheels as my pillion is away in the car visiting family.) Stony silence from the other end. I'm waiting for something like, "No worries. We'll slip out and pick you up", or "Give us an hour and we'll pop it on a trailer and deliver it to you." Nuh. No such offers. I abruptly told them to lock it up in the workshop and I'll pick it up on Tuesday (after the long weekend) when everybody's back at work. I also let it be known that I planned on taking off for a couple of days riding but that was now impossible. I'm sure the tone of my voice at that stage expressed my complete and utter dissatisfaction. So, tell me - how does a one day job turn in to a week? Just like it did above. Wonder what sort of 'compensation discount' I'll get. Unfortunately the closest other Yamahaha dealer is an hour and a half away.
  13. Can anyone help me with finding a good mechanic close to Columbus, Ohio who can get my 1987 1300 venture royal started and running and road ready. It has had a lot of work done to it and has a new TCI, but the current mechanic is tired of working on it and I must pick the bike up. pls contact me if you can help, I can be reached by email. jgsmith_57@yahoo.com Any info you have would be helpful and welcomed, Thx in advance.

  16. Hello board members I'm looking for someone in Mi that may have Harley slash cut mufflers that will work on my 08 RSTD without having to rejet or anything. I just want a little louder sound. I would also look at any other sugestions for what you might have. I would like to be able to come and pick up if not to far so if anyone in or near the downriver area of Mi let me know. I would also like to know what number HD mufflers I would ask for at a HD dealer to go on my 08 RSTD without changing anything if they would even have any. Thanks, Joe
  17. Met a fellow at a station along I-85 this morning while getting a soda. He was riding a 2001 Venture. Struck up a conversation and he is a member here. His handle is Pick and he lives in Georgia. I told him I would give a shout out on the site.
  18. Will the bike run if the pick up coils a are shot. My 83 will idle fine but will not pull. I followed the test procedure in the tech article and got no readings on the 6 pin connector other than the ground. (Probobly doing something wrong) The 8 pin checked out fine. All 4 cyl are firing, carb sync new fuel fileter about 2 cans of sea foam. Fuel pump will fill a cup in seconds. Cleaned the connector on the side of the frame for the pick up coils. When I kick it off the center stand and try to pull away it dies and the choke will save it from stalling. If it does stall starts right back up. Any sugestions would be much appreciated frank:confused:

  20. Just taking a shot in the dark. Does anyone have any young ladies riding gear that your children might have outgrown that you might want to sell? My Daughter just turned 13 last Friday and shes 5ft tall and as skinny as a rail. I need to pick up riding gear for her and was hoping to save a little money. If you happen to have anything just PM me. Thanks....Karl

  23. A guy is 72 years old and loves to fish. He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, "Pick me up!" He looked around and couldn't see anyone. He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice again say, "Pick me up!" He looked in the water and there, floating on top, was a frog. The man said, "Are you talking to me?" The frog said, "Yes, I'm talking to you. Pick me up, then kiss me and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you've ever seen!" "I'll make sure that all your friends are envious because I will be your bride." The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully and placed it in his front pocket. The frog said, "What! Are you nuts?" "Didn't you hear what I said?" I said "Kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride!" He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, "Nah, at my age, I'd rather have a talking frog!" With age comes Wisdom!
  24. Well, I wasn't planning on going this afternoon to pick up the bike because I was scheduled to close on the refinance on my home at 4pm. But, after calling Wells Fargo to verify where I was supposed to be, the lady informed me it had been changed to tomorrow and she realized she had failed to notify me. So, given that tomorrow is 60% chance of rain and Wednesday is going to be horrible traffic getting around Asheville, NC, I went home at lunch and picked up the trailer and am going to try to get it done today. For some reason, I am a little apprehensive about this. Mostly, just getting the bike loaded on the trailer, especially since it is not running. I am also going to have to find someplace to put the extra engine and maybe a whole bunch more parts if he will let them go cheap. I guess my little Maxima is going to be loaded down. So now I am sitting here trying to function for a couple more hours until I can get out of here. I must say, it is a beautiful 70º day and maybe that is a good sign. Wish me luck, RandyA
