4. I found these pics in an old file and I realized I never posted them here. I took my daughter to get her driver's license earlier this spring and this guy was parked at the DMV. Don't think I've ever seen a bike quite like this one. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjEtMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ni5qcGc.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjMtMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ny5qcGc.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjItMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ny5qcGc.jpg
5. If you have managed to get a Texas non-CDL class A license, I would like to know which agency you dealt with....which county or facility. I have a buddy who has bought a truck for personal use and is having some trouble with the local clueless DPS office. So...if you have that non-CDL class A, which is actually required in Texas to drive a large motorhome pulling a heavy trailer, please let me know. Thanks.
6. My license plate bracket broke from the weight of the harley light. Does anyone have an extra bracket laying around that they want to sell? Otherwise it off to the dealer to order P/N 4XY-84751-00-00 @ $25.62 + tax
7. I found some real nice red running lights with chrome at the truck stop in Balwin, Fl. I then made a metal bracket to go on both sides:dancefool: of the license plate. The brackets mount to the screws that hold the license plate. I then drilled holes in the bracket and mounted the red running lights to each side of the license plate. It really increased the red lights from the rear and was very inexpensive to install. Ofcourse I had to hook up the electric to the lights which was right there in the rear of the bike. Several of my friends really liked the hookup and so Iinstalled them on there respective bike. "Not all Ventures", forgive me!! ha ha . I am attaching some pictures of the rear lights installed. Any questions please let me know. Hope it helps someone out there. If the photo does not come in with this post let me know and I will e-mail the photos to you. Dan4852@aol.com DanC
8. I guess there is quite a few cassette players on the shelf now. I always thought that logo on the cassette player was kind of cool, After removing it and adding gauges I took the logo off and put it here. My new star license plate holder add 3M backing tape and your good to go! Now to put the cassette player in the tackle box for a line weight for the fishing poll.
9. Well almost go all the shine on the New 08 RSTD today side-rails for the bags, running lights with visors . turn signals visors, chrome license plate cover and the ultimate studded seats are do in tomorrow. It is almost done for now.
10. A couple is coming this afternoon to look at our 650 Silverado. Them them ride it or no, so long as they have MC endorsement on license?
11. Heading to Kentucky this summer with the boys. Just want to make sure I understand the helmet law down there.....Looks like no helmet required for anyone over 21 ....unless.....you've had your license less than a year. Am I understanding that right? (Our oldest son just got his license last week)
12. Here's one with the go pro mounted on the back of the license plate. I think it sounds a little better. Link [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmwSysQuTho]YouTube- yamaha royal star TD plate mount go pro[/ame]
13. I looking to buy and install a license plate frame that have some bright LED's that I can use for both running and additional break light. Do any of you kind folks know where I gould find such a thing for my 07 RSTD? You help will be appreciated. Mark;)
14. I'm wondering.... Don has mentioned a few times that now that he's "triked" the bike, that maybe I should learn how to ride it and then get my "endorsement". I kept saying no, no, no. I enjoy the backseat alot. It's a great way to just unwind after working all day or after a hard week, we can just ride on the weekend. However, after alot of thinking, I decided maybe it wasn't a bad idea after all. I came home from work the other day and said sure, honey..you may be right. I think it's time (when the weather gets a little better) to teach me to ride the trike. Then I can get my motorcycle license....AND THEN I CAN RIDE THE TRIKE TO WORK!!!! The look on his face was PRICELESS!!! And then he said heck no! or something to that effect.... Don't you think that is WRONG???? If I learn to ride it, and get my license, why shouldn't I get to ride it to work. He doesn't work..he's retired..he has OTHER TRANSPORTATION...why can't I have my turn at it???? Any thoughts???? Pat
15. Has anyone made, or had made, a license plate that has the motto "Life's a Venture" written on it. I want to get one to put on the rear of my newly aquired trailer that I am now the proud owner of. There is a large void on the lower part of the rear of the trailer, I am planning to put the "Life's a Venture" license plate on the trailer with the " ventureriders.org" over the top of it. I am open to suggestions for a design for one if anyne is interested in helping. I really think the raised decal that Freebird has produced would look good in a license plate form, but I want to get the approval of the "Boss" before I go using that. I believe that we should stay with one standard for the advertisement of this group. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks
16. I bought a set of Harley license lights to put on my 2006 RSV. The wiring diagram that obber sent me shows the wires on the Harley part being red or blue. The light I purchased has only one color wire on it and I am a little confused on how to wire it up to my RSV. Any of you have any suggestions? Thanks.
17. My son got pulled over by the R.C.M.P. while riding with his girlfriend in Sidney. The cop informed him that he had done nothing wrong but that they had orders to run the plate of every motorcycle they see. A couple years ago my son got a dui while driving his truck. He paid the fine and took the suspension and got his drivers license back. What they did not tell him is that because he got a suspension his motorcycle license was automatically invalidated and he would have to re-take the tests. He did not know this so had been driving for a year and a half without a valid motorcycle license. The cop then informed him that despite paying for insurance the insurance was invalid because the license was invalid. The cop then informed him that when he had originally passed his motorcycle license 30 years ago he had passed it on a 195 cc twin star so it has been illegal for him to carry a passenger for the past 30 years. In order to carry a passenger he would have had to re-pass the test on a bike bigger than 200 cc. They did not tell him this at the time so he never did. The bike was impounded and towed. Invalid motorcycle license, invalid insurance, illegally carrying a passenger. He was told he could not get the bike out of impound until he re-passed his motorcycle test. He took a day off work to do all this and was informed the first slot available to do the test is in the middle of October. Impound fees $ 25.00/day plus towing fee plus licence test fee. Fortunately he found out that he could get a temporary operators permit which would allow him to get the bike out of impound. When he went to get it out of impound he found that the paperwork to impound the bike had never been processed so he could not take it out of impound. It took all day and several hundred dollars but he finally got the bike back. Be aware that in B.C. if you get a suspension it automatically invalidates your motorcycle license even if the bike was not involved and you must re-take the tests. If you originally passed the tests on a bike of less than 200 cc you must re-pass the tests on a bigger bike to be allowed to carry passengers. The cops have orders to run the plate of every motorcycle they see. Seems like harassment to me.
18. I've decided to start deer hunting again after a 3 year layoff during which time I lost my lease rights to private land nearby. But I'm right on the edge of several large tracts of Federal and Georgia state public lands. Some open and some which require checkin/signin (wildlife management areas). Georgia offers a free hunting/fishing license to those over 65, and for those like myself in the over-60 group a $90 lifetime license which includes eveything hunting/fishing except Federal bird stamps. So I bought the over-60 lifetime license yesterday, and ordered a Barnett crossbow via the internet to use. I think my right arm is too weak to hold a bow for any length of time since I broke the arm & shoulder 3 years ago. Bow season starts Sept 12th, muzzle loader Oct-10, and firearms on Oct 16 - Jan 1. I'm thinking I want to buy a TC Contender .22rf pistol to squirrel hunt prior to deer hunting from the Suzuki trail bike I have , so I can get some early scouting in.
19. My son got his motorcycle license this weekend, I called my insurance company to put him on. They want to raise the cost 4 X ?? He has clean license ? Told him he can not drive it, as our state requires it to drive. Can anyone sugest a company (s)? Thanks!
20. I won this used License Plate Holder with Lights (Item# 170318869042) and I am wondering if there is an LED lamp available bright enough for the application (68230-97b). What would be the color of the wire I should be looking for inside the license plate holder area to connect to the assembly? Is this a straight bolt on? Tips please.
21. Been laid off for a couple weeks so I decided to put new lights on trailer. Hope to be seen now the original lights are so dull and LED is the way to go they are bright. I thought that upper light bar would really help. Put new license plate lights in and pulled the wire out on one need to replace that. Now all I need is warm weather.
22. This is just a heads up for anyone needing to renew or add any endorsements their driver’s license. The wife went into the GA DDS (DMV) to take her motorcycle permit test. She passed with flying colors. Great, right! Well, when they went to add the endorsement to her license, something popped up on the computer. NY had placed a hold on her license! They not only said they couldn’t add the endorsement but that her GA license would be suspended until she got the hold removed by NY State! Here’s the kicker, we haven’t lived in NY since 1981 and she never had a driver’s license there, only a permit and never had any tickets or violations! After wading through the bureaucracy we found out the hold was for an “unsatisfied judgment” from an accident in 1978. Apparently we were sued for an accident we were in and never received the summons to court since we moved several times during those years. It’s been a month since this happened and we’re still trying to get this straightened out from 1,000 miles away. Meanwhile the wife is stranded with no license out in the middle of nowhere (we live in the country). I guess I don’t have to tell you how that is going over! In light of her problems, I decided to check with NY and see what they had on me. Lo and behold the have a hold placed on me also for the same issue as my wife. They also have me down for “failure to answer a summons" for a speeding ticket in Livingston Co. NY in 1981. When I checked with them, they had to dig through some old boxes and found the ticket 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. The hell of it is is that I went to court as scheduled and paid the ticket so someone either didn’t do their job or the pocketed the money! I can either plead innocent and travel 1,000 miles for trial or fax in a guilty plea and pay the fine. Guess which one I chose! Who knows how long this will take to get straightened out. The only good thing is that my wife doesn’t work so we aren’t suffering financially from this. We both renewed our DL’s two years ago so I know this data sharing between NY and GA is something new. My assumption is that it is probably something to do with Homeland Security and the push for a national driver’s license and ID. My advice is that if anyone may have similar issues, to check it out before time to renew your license so you have time to straighten it out before your suspended and possibly lose your livelihood. Also, check it out with the state you USED TO live in like I did. If you check it with your current issuing state and they find something you’ll be in the same boat as my wife. Sorry about the book but this can’t be explained in one paragraph.-Jack
23. I don't want to offend anyone from Alabama but that state is not business friendly. I saw a bumper sticker a few years ago that said "make getting welfare as difficult as it is to get a building permit." I know that was a joke but it is so true. Now for the rest of the story. I work with motorcycle dealers to provide insurance coverage for their customers when they buy a bike and need insurance before they leave the dealer. I am available on the weekends when most bikes are sold. I work with some dealers in Columbus, Georgia which is on the line of Alabama. When you drive through Columbus you will see almost as many Alabama tags as Georgia. So I needed to be licensed in Alabama to help those customers. I went on line an completed an application for an Alabama non resident license and paid the fee of $67.00. The next week I received an email stating that my license was approved and I could go to the Alabama Insurance Department web site and print a copy of my license. I thought, wow, these people have their act together. When I went on the web site there was a message that I must license my agency in Alabama also before I could write insurance there. The agency application was nine pages and I had to pay a fee of $127.00. I did this and after several weeks I hadn't heard anything so I called the Alabama department and got the voice mail of Antwone. He will not return your call. I finally called and asked for his supervisor. She searched and couldn't find my application but the $127.00 charge was on my credit card. She asked me to fax a copy of the agency application and she would process the agency license. Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything so I faxed her a request for the status of the application. I got a reply that all Georgia agency license applications were on hold and would not be issued until Georgia reached a reciprocity agreement with Alabama. Weeks went by and I finally got my agency license and I was relieved that all was ok now. Not. There was a memo with my agency license that stated I had 20 days to register my corporation with the secretary of state in alabama or my agency license would be suspended. I called the secretary of state and asked what I had to do to register with them. They said to go on line and complete a short application and mail it to them, with a check for $175.00. I was completing the application and there was a question that said to list the name and street address of my registered agent in Alabama. I called and asked if the registered agent would be me. They said, do you live in Alabama. I said no and they said well you can't be the registered agent. I said I don't know anyone in Alabama. They said well you can't do business in Alabama but we can fax you a list of companies that will act as your registered agent in Alabama. I got the list and guess what? I had to send them $125.00 to act as my registered agent. I got this done and thought whew, I'm glad this is over and I can now write insurance in Alabama. But guess what? A few weeks later I received a letter from the Alabama Department of Revenue that stated I had 60 days to file a business priviledge tax form and there would be no extensions. I called them and asked why I had to file a tax form when I hadn't even done any business their yet. They said it was for the priviledge of doing business in Alabama. I said OK I will complete the form but all of the questions will have a zero filled in the blank. They said we don't care as long as you pay the tax. I completed the form with zeros and the computed tax owed was zero except there is a minimum tax due of $100.00. Two days before the deadline line I mailed the tax form with a check for $100.00 and thought, I am through with this nightmare. But, guess what. A few weeks ago I received a notice from the Alabama department of revenue that I filed the tax form late and owed a $50.00 late filing fee. I thought they would by the postmark date but evidently went by the date the form was received. Even the IRs goes by the postmark date. Anyway I am through with those yahoos in Alabama and I don't see why any company would do business there. For all of you that live in Alabama I know you don't have anything to do with this and I don't want to offend you but I am burnt out with the state of Alabama.

25. I'm back again looking for the best help....I just bought a Arlen Ness license plate frame with LED lighting for brake and taillight. I saw Free Birds wiring for extra lights which is great but was wondering if I can hook right into wiring that is just above tail light on 08 RSTD. until I get to the colder months and have more down time. Thanks Kelly
