  1. This will probably last a full 30 seconds before heading south, but having spend over 30 years in federal law enforcement these types of incidents really ring my bell. http://www.charter.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9TU8E601%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1011
  2. Numbers that I can relate to. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Li0no7O9zmE&feature=share]DEBT LIMIT - A GUIDE TO AMERICAN FEDERAL DEBT MADE EASY.[/ame] www.youtube.com
  3. Has anyone found a Kumho as of late? I am having a hard time locating a 160/80 r15 How do folks like the federal? I can't take the 400-5000 I am getting on an M/C anymore.
  4. For a couple years I've been blaming it on iron deficient blood, on vitamins, dieting, and a dozen other maladies. But now I've found out the real reason. It's because we're overworked. The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 33 million to do the work of the entire nation. 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work. 29 million employed by the federal government. This leaves 19 million to do the work. Four million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work. Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work. There are 188,000 ill and in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work. Now, there are 11,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And you're sitting there playing around on VENTURERIDER.ORG!!!!!
  5. I am starting a new job training dogs for the federal govt March 1 and will be a contract trainer. This was my specialty for the last 23 years as a civilian police officer and am looking forward to getting back to work with dogs. I've done the process where I've registered as a sole proprietor and all the other difficult paperwork. I know I'll need to pay my own taxes quarterly and my wife is good with stuff like that so figuring out what to pay should be ok. What I'm trying to figure out is is there any resource where I can find what exactly I can deduct and can't off the taxes. I'm wondering if I'll need to hire someone for the first year to help with the taxes. This is a five year contract. Any advice from anyone in this position would be appreciated.
  6. A gunman shot and killed 4 Lakewood Police officers today as they were sitting in a coffee shop. http://www.charter.net/news/read.php?ps=1011&rip_id=%3CD9C9D0G80%40news.ap.org%3E&_LT=UNGL_LARSDCCLM_UNEWS Even having spent almost 20 years as a Federal Agent, I will never understand that kind of mentality....
  7. Just thought if any were interested this is the federal, but they have the kumho when in stock. I went ahead and ordered the Federal,
  8. I've decided to start deer hunting again after a 3 year layoff during which time I lost my lease rights to private land nearby. But I'm right on the edge of several large tracts of Federal and Georgia state public lands. Some open and some which require checkin/signin (wildlife management areas). Georgia offers a free hunting/fishing license to those over 65, and for those like myself in the over-60 group a $90 lifetime license which includes eveything hunting/fishing except Federal bird stamps. So I bought the over-60 lifetime license yesterday, and ordered a Barnett crossbow via the internet to use. I think my right arm is too weak to hold a bow for any length of time since I broke the arm & shoulder 3 years ago. Bow season starts Sept 12th, muzzle loader Oct-10, and firearms on Oct 16 - Jan 1. I'm thinking I want to buy a TC Contender .22rf pistol to squirrel hunt prior to deer hunting from the Suzuki trail bike I have , so I can get some early scouting in.
  9. I'm so bummed... My Federal tire exploded while seating the bead. had beads heavily lubed with ruglyde tire lube. Exploded around 100 PSI. Scared about 10 years off my life... but nothing hurt but my pride and my wallet. Guess I'll put the old tire back on until I find another tire. Has anybody tried grinding the huge lip on the wheel off? It would certailnly make beading these up easier... safer too.
  10. The 'great' state of California needs a secondary 'Federal VIN' tag for registration. I'm at a loss as to where it's located. They know about the stamp on the steering head but, they also want a federal sticker....anybody know it's whereabouts? They won't register the bike without it.
  11. wow.......i must say Missouri is impressive when it comes to turn around time on taxes.... I always do our taxes and I filed them tuesday night.....i file electronically and do direct deposit..... both returns were approved by mid day wednesday and ...we already got our refund from the state in the bank this morning !!! Federal should be here by the end of next week. Fastest its ever happened. The best news is......we are getting enough back this year from both state and federal to pay off a bunch of stuff..........and cover that dang bill for the van fix:yikes: which will help our finances tremendously!!! all we will have left is the bike payment and the mortgage ( of course) This is all great for us since the economy is so unstable, especially if you are working for an automaker and dealing with layoffs here and there. For once I can honestly say.............THINGS ARE LOOKING UP !!!!

  13. Yes, harley is seeking federal bailout money. You can go to www.dealernews.com and look in the middle of the page for the story.
  14. Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into Federal custody Tuesday morning at his Northwest Side home http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/politics&id=6545958
  15. Here's an interesting pic that I spliced together showing the tread profile of my old worn out Avon vs. the Federal SS657. Each tire here is mounted and inflated to show its actual profile. Obviously I couldn't have both of them on the same rim at the same time, thus the splice. I may have gotten the scale of the Federal a hair smaller than that of the Avon, but they're pretty close. The new Federal is more rounded than the old worn out Avon. Of course the Avon would be more rounded when it was new. So it looks like the tread profile of the Federal would about match the profile of the Avon when it was about half worn down. It looks to me like a CT is not too square to use and is plenty rounded enough to have a good contact patch in a corner.
  16. Judging from what I have seen so far many of the modifications we make to the bikes are possibly illegal on the federal level. In my area there are also the mods that are illegal on the local level, like no mufflers, that seem to be ignored by the police....so far. There was an interesting link to the Motorcycle Riders Foundation posted by Steve (Bummer) in another thread. Also the federal laws. Going by MRF many of the more common modifications such as Vmax rear end, plugging the AIS, muffler change or modification, jet changes, air filter/air box changes, rev limiter changes, cam etc. assuming not using something that has been certified for the bike, could be trouble. At this time I assume the only thing we could remotely see are violations for exhaust changes. They would be easier to tell then final drive gears changes or jet work. Is it likely? Not from what I see of the uncorked Harley's in Tucson. I still wouldn't be surprised if one day there is a crack down here but no sign yet. If someone with power gets fed up here it could even swing the other way and go 100% compliance. How about in other areas? Has anyone run into examples of enforcement? Anyone have a good guess as to what the future may bring? Jerry
  17. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) reports that a new web-based survey for motorcyclists has been launched by the Federal Highway Administration's Motorcycle Advisory Council (FHWA-MAC). The members of the FHWA MAC recently created the 2008 Motorcyclist Road Conditions Survey. The purpose of the survey is to help state and federal highway administrators better understand and plan for the needs of motorcycle riders. All riders are encouraged to take the survey before the deadline of August 1st 2008. The idea is to launch the survey during riding season when riders are most aware of current conditions and can more accurately respond to the survey. To take the ten minute survey before August 1st visit: www.surveymonkey.com/MACmembersHighwaySurvey Note: this is a busy site, so be patient if the survey does not work on the first try.
