  1. i'm in need of a pair of oem passenger floorboards for a venture.if ya got some pm me.thanks, bill
  2. The gear indicator on my 84 stopped working properly last summer. I checked all the wires coming from the transmission with my ohm meter and all are making a complete circuit. Now where is the doodad/gadget/thingamabob that I have to check to see if it's malfunctioning? I can't find it in my manual. Thanks, Bill
  3. hey lewis happy birthday ya old fart. you just gained on me again. have a great one. see you in a month. snarley bill
  4. I wanted to take the time to thank one of the Venture Riders on this site. For the past 2.5 months he has patiently and meticulously worked to restore a Salvaged 99 RSV that I bought 2 years ago. I bought this bike thinking it would be a “winter project” but really underestimated the amount of work and attention to detail it would take to get it in tip top condition. A little about me....I am a perfectionist. If I am not confident that something can be done to perfection I will hold off until I am prepared to perform to that degree. I will not start something and say “oh that's no big deal, or that's not quite right but it will do” After realizing that this restoration was above my skill level, it sat in my garage until shortly after I joined this site and found WillBill1. Bill Little aka WillBill1 lives north of Charlotte, NC. What attracted me to Bill was the fact the he is a retire engineer, skilled mechanic, and rides what we ride. What more could you ask for? I told home my bike and he was confident that he could make it perfect and I knew after only a short while of speaking to him that he would treat my bike as his own- no shortcuts would be taken. I've included some pics of my bike before and after but that only tells a small piece of the story. The PO of my bike totaled it back in 2003 or 2004 and his well meaning son in law tried to put it back together, doing more harm that good. He used common nuts and bolts from Lowes or Home Depot, left lots of stuff off the bike and just all around screwed the bike up. Bill painstakingly combed over my bike for hours with part diagrams checking off every single nut and bolt that was missing or needed to be replaced and every electrical connection that needed to be repaired. He then got all the maintenance up to date and began doing some of the modifications we have here on our site. He installed a MP3 port next to my powerjack on the inner fairing. He installed my new passing lights and light bar, took out my cassette player and installed gauges, put the Harley License Plate Frame with additional brake lights on the back, raised my forks up in the triple trees to lower the front end and installed and Baron's Lowering Kit for the rear. Keep in mind while doing all this he would would find other little things that needed attention and fix those things as well. He found over 200 parts that were missing from the bike or need to be replaced.....that's attention to detail. I could go on and on about the work that Bill did. He was simply amazing. Not once did he complain about everything he ran into and not once did he raise the price on me that we had agreed to, which by the way was an unbelievable price. I had the pleasure of working with him some on this project and let me tell you, it was obvious he was an engineer. There were a few times that I said to myself “Holy Cow I would have never figured that out”, it was a real joy watching him at work. I hope that you guys will reach out to him if you ever feel you're in to deep and need help. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that he can handle anything that comes his way. You can find him in the member vendors section..... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=36 Bill, if you are reading this.....Thank You so much, if there is anything I can ever help you with....don't hesitate to call. You're a great guy, I would've never been able to do what you so skilfully did. Thanks again......Matt
  5. I'm really considering it. I would make a great conservation starter. How much do ya suppose it would weigh? Or would it make a better hack? http://eauclaire.craigslist.org/mcy/3195565558.html Bill
  6. Where is the dang thing? The schematic in the book says it has 3 wires, Br, Br/W, and Y/G. But I don't see it. I switch to LED's and want to put in an electronic turn signal relay. Thanks, Bill
  7. In the last few months I've been getting e-mail notices from Verizon Wireless. I had to laugh as I don't, or any member of my family, have or have had any Verizon phone service. The first one was for $949.87 and the one I got today was for $2,471.25. The website shows it as Verizon 2011 and no other info other than "View & Pay Bill" or "Enroll for Autopay". Anybody else seen e-mails like this lately? Glad it ain't my bill. Mike
  8. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/lifeguard-fired-leaving-post-beach-hallandale-florida-135238189.html What is our society coming to? Has anybody here seen the movie Idiocracy? Could our world as we know it possibly be headed in that direction? Sad, but I fear is may very well be true. Bill
  9. Wow, how many people get to tell that tale? I've only hit a cat quite a few years ago and thought I was fortunate to have not lost it. There is some foul language in the video, so use your own discretion. Bill
  10. TWO QUARTERS or a DOLLAR BILL A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, 'This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.' The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, 'Which do you want, son?' The boy takes the quarters and leaves the dollar. 'What did I tell you?' the barber winked. 'That kid never learns!' Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store & says; 'Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?' The boy licked his cone and replied, 'Because the day I take the dollar bill, the game's over!' :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  11. The Tax System Explained in Beer April 2, 2012 Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this… The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing The fifth would pay $1 The sixth would pay $3 The seventh would pay $7 The eighth would pay $12 The ninth would pay $18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay. And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!” “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. – Professor of Economics.
  12. Anybody else here have Restless Leg Syndrome? What do you take for it or what do you do to help cope with it? I've been on Tramadol for quite some time and it worked well for me. It as also very cheap. But now it has been giving me migranes. So now I either deal with migranes, or I don't get any sleep. Thanks, Bill
  13. A letter from a Gutsy Cape Bretoner –Gotta love it!!! “Dear Revenue Canada, Enclosed and/or attached, you will find my 2010 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes. Please note the attached article from the Toronto Globe and Mail; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Canadian Department of National Defense is paying $171.50 per hammer and Fisheries and Oceans Canada has paid $600.00 per toilet seat for its icebreakers. As payment, I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Canadian Tire, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to next year's tax bill or a roll of toilet paper. It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.
  14. Just thought I would mention it. I ordered my BiXenon kit last week and it ended up on back-order however. http://shop.hidcountry.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Moto%20Kit%20HDK1 Bill
  15. I have an Emachines netbook that I really like. Lately I have to have the lid positioned just right to get a clear picture so I ordered a new cable for the monitor. When it came it was perfect except the connecter for the webcam was the wrong size. I decided to contact Emachines directly to try to get the right part. I thought some of you might get a kick out of my conversation with their rep. Now keep in mind that I had to input my serial number and my problem before I could even start. Swaroop Gantayat: Hi, my name is Swaroop Gantayat. How may I help you? Swaroop Gantayat: Are we connected? Swaroop Gantayat: Are we still connected? Bill Madole: I need the cable that hooks up to the LCD monitor.webcam, and microphone. Where can I obtain one? I purchased one online (50.S6702.001) but when I went to install it the connecter for the webcam was to large. I thought if I went to the manufacturer I might be able to get the right part. Swaroop Gantayat: I can understand your concern. Swaroop Gantayat: I will provide you with the required information. Swaroop Gantayat: I have verified your product serial number and found that the unit is out of standard manufacturer's warranty; hence I regret to inform that Emachines is unable to provide warranty privileges to fix this issue. Bill Madole: I do not want warranty work. All I want to know is where can I buy the part? Swaroop Gantayat: May I know exactly which part are you looking for? Bill Madole: The cable that hooks up to the LCD monitor, webcam, and microphone. Swaroop Gantayat: Okay. Swaroop Gantayat: Thank you for the information. Swaroop Gantayat: I understand that you would like to know where can you purchase the cable which connects LCD monitor, webcam, and microphone. Am I correct? Bill Madole: Yes Swaroop Gantayat: Thank you for the confirmation. Swaroop Gantayat: Bill, that is a generic part and they will not part number for it. Swaroop Gantayat: You just have to provide the model number and they will provide the information. Swaroop Gantayat: Bill, as we are hardware technician, we do not do any direct sales. Swaroop Gantayat: However, I will provide you the MundoCorp phone number and site, who are parts sellers. Swaroop Gantayat: Please contact them and they will provide all the information you need. Swaroop Gantayat: Here is the model number of the computer:EM250. Swaroop Gantayat: Here is the website and phone number, Bill. Swaroop Gantayat: http://www.mundocorp.com Swaroop Gantayat: Mundo corp Direct Phone number: 888-278-7500 Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST Hope somebody gets a laugh out of this. The shame is that I own three emachine computers and actually do like them. At least after I put the netbook back together it started working right. I don't expect that to last though.
  16. Old people worry more about paying bills guess thats a good habit to have. I laughed my arse off at my Dad a while back. He got a bill in the mail that said you have a $200 credit this month. It seems he had paid it multiple times the month before (over paid). This morning I check my checking balance and it seems I paid a bill twice last week. Damn this getting old is making me broke. I could have bought a years insurance on the scoots with that $$$.:backinmyday:
  17. And that was using a $2.50 discount coupon And my Senior Discount of $4.11 Otherwise it would have been $45.20 1 from me to my wife. 1 from my wife to me. 1 from my wife to her mother. 1 from me to my only granddaughter. 1 from my wife to her only granddaughter. 1 from me and my wife to our only son. 1 from me and my wife to our only daughter and son-in-law. 1 to my sister-in-law. Of course I needed to be there for I'm the Senior Citizen. I can't imagine having 4 children what my Valentine Card bill would come to. But a larger Valentine Card bill would be a blessing.
  18. friend of toms and he has been in a mvc in dublin ga and needs help call his dad bill at 508-997-5672 if info need ,please call
  19. I received my invite in my email and have been giving it serious thought about going. I just have to convince the wifie poo that she also wants to go. She's not thinking she would like the long ride. it would be a 6-8 hour ride for us. I know she would like it once we got there. After all she wasn't sure she wanted to go to the "Leaf Looker's Run" last fall either. But she ended up really enjoying herself. Is there anybody in my area, (Thorp, WI) that might be going so we might have someone to ride with? Or at least meet along they way? I'm thinking we would enjoy the 53 north to Duluth and then shoot west route better than heading into the twin cities. Thanks, Bill
  20. Yamaha of Cucamonga I have read many posts about “stealers” and how they aren’t all that good. Well I would like to give the highest kudos to Yamaha of Cucamonga. I recently rode coast to coast with Run For The Wall. We depart from Rancho Cucamonga on the 18th of May. I got to Rancho on the 16th for registration and visiting new friends. Well the RSV was running like a turd, well maybe not a turd really but it was running really badly. I would have to increase the RPMs to 3000 just to get it to move. This is my first 2nd gen so I thought, although strange, maybe this is just the way it is. So on the 16th of May as we were driving in traffic I thought I’d just increase the idle and see what happened. Nothing happened still a turd. I started looking for a dealer and found Yamaha of Cucamonga. I took the scoot in and was told that it was firing alright on 1 and 2 but 3 was only hitting about 25% of the time and 4 was cold, not firing at all. The mechanic, Bill, did a carb rebuild and cleaning. He found clogged primary jets and missing O rings in the 3 and 4 carbs. Once he completed the carb rebuild and took it for a test ride he identified the fact that I had modified the air boxes which screwed things up there as well. Well after spending $450.00 and leaving happy, 5 hours later, we feel the money we spent was more that worth it. The Venture didn’t miss a beat for the next 6,500 miles of our trip home. We probably would have wound up beside the road somewhere had I not gone and gotten the problem fixed right. Oh yeah, one more thing, Bill saw my blocked off AIS and told me that the Venture wouldn’t backfire if it were tuned properly, it hasn’t back fired since he complete his work on it. It back fired all the time before he worked on it. If you are ever in So Cal and need a good shop, go by and see Jay Conaway, the owner, mechanic Bill Colvin and the guys at Yamaha of Cucamonga. P.S I will only take it to a Gold Star mechanic.
  21. has anyone used the show chrome grips for the yamaha with weights . i like the loks better than kury's thanks bill
  22. A very dear friend and long time hunting and fishing companion just passed away at 5:30 PM. I wanted to get to see him one more time, but the Lord called him home today. Please remember the family of brother Bill Rose from Mansfield, Ohio. His son Jerry is just like my own brother to me. Please remember us all in your prayers. Fuzzy http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fobit.wappner.com%2Fobitdisplay.html%3Fid%3D932820%26listing%3DCurrent&h=1fcb1 In Memory Of My Dear Friend. Bill was a very dear friend to me. Treated me so that I felt that I was family. A great individual whom I will always cherish in my life. He taut me so very much through the yrs that I knew him. I loved him deeply and will always remember the trips to lake Erie, the stops to get ice cream on the way home, the goggle eyes we caught together, the times that he didn't rub it in when he caught all the fish. The gapping Bill called it (Yawning) in the mornings and when we where so tired from getting up so early, to do what we loved. The hours we spent riding and talking together in the early hours of morning just to climb into a stand and sometimes get a glimpse of the old biggin. The fishing baits he gave me. The times he would lend me a rifle (Thunder Stick) or shotgun to hunt when I could not afford one. The arrows and broad-heads he gave me to get a biggin. The honey he gave me that he and Angeline worked so hard to take care of and then would not let me pay him for it. The time he drove me (both of us dressed in camouflage) to the hospital to get a thorn out of my hand, that I could not get out. Then we went straight on to the deer woods. The phone calls he would make to me just to see how I was doing and to check on my wife. I always think of Bill and his family as being my family. We love you all. WE LOVE YOU BILL AND HOPE TO MEET YOU IN THE WOODS OR ON THE LAKE OF GOD'S GREAT HEAVEN.. Fuzzy
