  1. Just wanted to check if all of you have received your patches. I think that the only people who may not have received them are wkboard and maybe seabeetom. Those should be there soon. If you have paid and not received yours, please let me know. I have a LOT of patches still and also still have some VR Guardian Bells if anybody wants some. Don
  2. Decals are ordered, paid for and on the way. I should have them in 10 days and will get them right out to you. Please get your orders placed to help me defray the initial outlay of cash. See this thread for ordering information. I had to order quite a few to keep the price down to where it was so any of you who can order and pay now will be appreciated. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/venturerider-merchandise/39088-venturerider-domed-decals.html
  3. We is Coming!! :dancefool: Trip all booked and paid for, and insurance sorted see you at MD :bighug:
  4. Made a settelment with Progressive insurance on the 91 Venture yesterday. Couldn't believe how easy it went. They used the Nada and gave me $5300 for the bike and acessories. Even paid the sales tax and registration fees. Then they paid for two jackets and helmet. The total was $5984 after my $250 deductible. I took it and let them have the bike. They will pick it up tommorow. Can't complain about that.
  5. Has anyone herd from Tony? Not seen or herd from him in almost 2 years. Freebird is he still a member? Paid his due's? Maybe he'll see this post
  6. Anyone hear about the guy in Virginia who traded in his car on a new Chevy Traverse? He originally bought a black one but brought it back the next day for a blue one. He paid in full, took it home, and left the next day on a cruise. He got home to find a large number of calls on his home and work phones, and mail. When he contacted the dealership, it seems they had made a mistake on his paperwork and the blue Traverse was worth more so they wanted him to come in and sign a new contract for the higher price, $39k instead of $33k. He refused as he had already paid in full for the vehicle at the stated price. Well, the dingbats had him arrested for GTA. He had to bail himself out of jail and walk home [5 miles]. They continued to demand he come in and sign the higher priced contract even after they dropped the charges. The president of the dealership has finally apologized for the situation and offered him the vehicle at the stated price, $33k. His reply: No Thanks. He's suing them for $2.2M for a variety of reasons due to their screw up. MHO? They had better settle now while they can. I can think of a few juries that would be of the opinion that $2.2M is not enough!
  7. OK, I didn't pay the bill so they turned the lights off. I WISH they would send me a notice when it is due but they never do. So, I have paid it so it should be up again soon.
  8. Has anyone in the last couple of years purchased a set of Chrome Roto Covers for an MKII on ebay? If so could you tell me what you paid for them. I need some reasonable price comparions for an insurance claim.
  9. Has anyone in the last couple of years purchased a set of Markland Hiway Floorboards for an MKII on ebay? If so could you tell me what you paid for them. I need some reasonable price comparions for an insurance claim.

More money to throw at the Venture and getting it back running, maybe some new plastic............can't get safety chrome for these old relics anymore.
  12. The Tax System Explained in Beer April 2, 2012 Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this… The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing The fifth would pay $1 The sixth would pay $3 The seventh would pay $7 The eighth would pay $12 The ninth would pay $18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay. And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!” “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. – Professor of Economics.
  13. Just paid my 12$ Now I don't feel like a stalker ...lol Looks like a great group.
  14. Old people worry more about paying bills guess thats a good habit to have. I laughed my arse off at my Dad a while back. He got a bill in the mail that said you have a $200 credit this month. It seems he had paid it multiple times the month before (over paid). This morning I check my checking balance and it seems I paid a bill twice last week. Damn this getting old is making me broke. I could have bought a years insurance on the scoots with that $$$.:backinmyday:
  15. Last September 6th I traded my 2009 Silverado Z71 in on a 2011 Silverado Z71 and financed a portion of the purchase price. I paid $17 doc fees and $25 Title fees. I never asked questions about it , didn't have cause to. In the middle of November I paid off the mortgage on the truck and waited for the title to arrive. The last week of November I got an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper saying that I could take it to my local title department and get a title. I did and it cost $16 for what I thought I had already paid for. After a call to the dealership and talking to the business whatever she was called I found that when you finance a vehicle that there is never a title issued. Everything is "electronic" and I guess it save's the .32 cents to mail a title to you and evidently nobody ever has a clear title to their vehicle. I'm still trying to figure how I can make life miserable enough for the dealer so that they will refund my $16 that I thought I had already paid for a paper title. I'm relatively sure I won't win but it'll be fun jabbing them as often as I feel like it.
  16. just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a VERRY VERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy new year. i will be heading out to my sister and brother-inlaws house i got a nuce gift in the mail from the daughter and son-inlaw. i keep telling them i ride a yamaha. but the son-inlaw works at a harley dealer in brainerd MN and loved to send me harley sweat shirts? and a hoodie. some one paid off the loan i still had on the motorcycle? so i have the title now and one less bill to pay. now if i get the darn car paid off. next year should be ok. there are pepole i want to see in ohio next year.
  17. I sold my 2006 GL1800 to a guy that flew in from Wichita KS to Atlanta and rode it home. I rode it for 2 yrs and put 24k miles on it and sold it for $700 less than I paid for it. Not a bad deal! I still have the '97 RSTC and I might be looking for a sport touring bike like a Kawi Concours 14 in the future.
  18. And today I've accomplished a lot lol. I showered, had my 28oz of yummy goodness (coffee), laundry, and assisted with the oil change on the bike....what?! Shouldn't I get paid for this? Oh well, Time for a beer. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

    Droid

Warning do not get a droid from Verizon. Their insurance and warrante is worthless. They know that the chip goes bad after 2 years but will not warrante your $499.00 phone after you have paid for years with no claim. You get nothing even if you have been a customer for 15+ years. Pass it on so they screw less people. Rod
  20. I bought a used trailer hitch and luggage rack off ebay that was delivered today. Unfortunately, the seller did not include the mounting bolts nor instructions. So, to my point, I called the manufacturer of the hitch and spoke to the owner. He overnighted me all the necessary hardware and detailed instructions at no charge! I paid anyway of course. Superior service from a vendor I have never done business with before. 5 Stars. He does make triple trees for the Venture as well, so I thought I would put a word out for him. http://www.xf6-custom.com/
  21. Every once in a while when viewing this forum I get a pop up notification saying there is an app for viewing this on an iPad.....anyone used it and their thoughts? It is a paid app......
  22. Had a hard time finding the 16/90/150. I was going to order them online but couldn't find any so I ordered it from the shop down the road from me. He could only find 7 left from all their tire sorces. I didn't need it yet but ordered it and got it and paid for it so it is ready to go on when I do need it. I wonder if they are not going to sell that size anymore? The same thing happened with the Comanders I liked so much.
  23. With the upcoming Holiday weekend coming up I would like everyone to take some time out and think about why we have this Holiday…. This Monday we honor those who paid the ultimate price to allow us to continue to do the things we all love to do in this country… My God bless those Men and Women who went before us…
  24. When asked about the number of dependants, I replied between refuges, illigal aliens, healthy but lazy welfare recipients ( including the royal Familly), teenage moms, Automotive Manufactures and fat over paid politicians. I have totally lost count. Its no wonder we can't properly look after our elderly.
  25. A man returns home a day early from a business trip. It's after midnight. While en route home he asks the cabby if he would be a witness. The man suspects his wife is having an affair and he wants to catch her in the act. For $100, the cabby agrees. Quietly arriving home, the husband and cabby tip toe into the bedroom. The husband switches on the lights, yanks the blanket back and there is his wife in bed with another man! The husband puts a gun to the naked man's head. The wife shouts, 'Don't do it! I lied when I told you I inherited money. HE paid for the Corvette I gave you. HE paid for our new cabin cruiser. HE paid for your season Pittsburgh Steelers tickets. HE paid for our house at the lake. HE paid for our country club membership, and HE even pays the monthly dues!' Shaking his head from side-to-side, the husband lowers the gun. He looks over at the cabby and says, 'What would you do? The cabby replies, 'I'd cover his butt with that blanket before he catches cold.'
