  1. Any recommendations for progressive springs? I have been looking at this next, have not searched around much. But, followed this thread. Who did you get your springs through?

It ran out pretty decent, but #4 cylinder carburetor was shot, toast, de-nada, zippo, zilch, nothing happening. Carburetor was so bad it would not even let a drop of gas into the cylinder. But, bike still ran well, and drove out well. Only way I could tell was by SKYDOC helping me out on the phone, and finally did the header pipe heat test. Just got the carbs fixed and back on today. runs great!!!!! Thanks SKYDOC!! My point is maybe check if you have a cylinder not working, thus, not giving you the correct vacuum reading.
  3. On my Kawasaki Concours, (hey, can I say Kawasaki on this forum?), I have the JM CB 2003-DU. This is the dual rider version, it has CB/NOAA weather radio, and the i-pod plug in. While it does not have am/fm, this system has more than satisfied all my needs. It has great sound quality through my helmets, and pretty decent range on the cb. That being said, if you do not have an existing system, or want to upgrade, this is a great way to go. You can try and find 20+ year old parts, wiring, accessories, and panels, and then try to figure it all out, or get a system like this, and be done with it. Installation is about 1-2 hours for even the most complex system, and sound quality through your helmet, with the right lower cord is amazingly good. On my current Voyager, I still have the factory am/fm/cb/tape system, and would seriously look into adding this system to replace my old components. Pricewise, they are a little spendy, if you buy them new. Expect to pay about $600-700 for the complete system, including the i-pod adapter if you go new. Or, if you are considering it, check out E-Bay. I bought my complete system on E-bay for about $400. Granted it was used, but, it still worked great, and JM is very helpful with parts, and quick shipping. Just my 2 cents worth.
  4. If I work as a fugitive recovery agent/bail enforcement agent, does that count? If so count me in.
  5. Coming from a towing backgroung, the tires are the same size we use on our "pop-up dollies", for disabled cars. And they are also only rated at 55 m.p.h.. However, we area carrying a considerable amount more weight on them. So, if possible, go with bigger tires. I am pretty certain that is where the speed rating comes from, at least from my understanding.
  6. Comfortably Numb, by Pink Floyd. Specifically the long version, from the live concert at Earls Park. It is about 7 1/2 minutes long, and ends with Roger Waters guitar solo. It is on all my homemade cd's.
  7. Is there a difference between the 85/86, and 87 trunk? I found a light bar for the 85/86, but was told it would not fit the 87. Anyone know the difference?
  8. True, they do get a bit pricey. However, check out E-Bay. I got a complete JMCB-2003-DU, which is the dual rider system. It came with everything, including the antenna, all wires, adapter to run my mp3 player, and the lower cords. It was about $400. Granted it was used, however, it works perfectly, and was about half the price of the complete system. Just a though for you.
  9. This is what I dream and imagine mine will look like when it is done.......someday.
  10. Hmm, now you got me thinking. What if we removed the stock instruments, put in one of these units to the side, and on the other side a nice gps unit? All mounted flush, maybe some blinker, and/or indicator lights. Then run some gauges, if space permitting for engine functions, not covered by this unit. Hmmmmmm, gotta get the graph paper, and some pencils out. Would be kind of cool, to have done, I would think.
  11. You probably do not want to just run a switch and a fuse. It would be strongly recommended to use a relay.
  12. I would second what utadventure said about the J&M system. I put a JMCB-2003-DU system on my older Concours. It was a quick install, took me maybe less than 2 hours. It works great, no radio, tape, or CD. But, I can plug in my phone, which has a built in mp3 player, and listen to it through my helmet. Additionally, my phone has built in nav, so I get spoken turn by turn directions through my headset. The system is prioritized, that the intercom will override everything else, then the cb, then the mp3 player. I have seriously thought about removing my stereo system from the Venture, and putting in another one of these. They are well worth looking into.
  13. yes, it is cool. But then what would you do with all that space in that humongous dash?
  14. Has anyone had an issue with to much SeaFoam fouling your plugs? I ran about 1/4 tank of fuel, and an entire can of SeaFoam to clean my carbs. Now my plugs are shot. I had to replace them just to get it to run. However, that being said one thing I noticed, is only the drivers rear cylinder was running. I could, and did, unplug all 3 other plug wires, and it ran. But if you unplug drivers rear plug wire, it won't run. After that replaced the plugs, with used, as did not have new. Will get new plugs today. It is running again. But, still seems to be a a bit rough. I know the carbs have never been synced, as the little brass plugs are still on the carbs. So, gotta figure this problem out now. Sheesh, what's next? So far, has new wires, new plugs-now a bit fouled, replaced the fuel pump and filter, replaced the selector valve on the tank, regluing all the plastic fairing pieces. Still needs the clutch bearing fixed. I am hoping this is not a money pit.
  15. They show the part, unfortunately, it is not in their warehouse, they have to order it in, then re-package it and send it to me. Unfortunately, will take about 9 days to get here. Oh well. Just gives me more time to figure out the *#@****$$##@**!!! rought idling! One step forward, tow steps back with this darn thing. Oh well, it is sloooooooowly getting there.
