  8. Following is a "very condensed" version of my experience with Earl (skydoc_17) and his 2nd gen clutch upgrade kit. After installing the kit, I was not happy with a specific aspect of the results. Sorry, I hesitate to go into details at this time other than to say the kit does work. In any event, Earl has provided me with an acceptable workaround that should solve my specific issue. By this I just wanted everyone to know how very helpful Earl has been, and willing to ensure my full satisfaction, even though I really wasn't asking anything specific from him. I explained the issue, told him what I did to correct it and he went the extra mile (actually more) and offered a better solution. Thank you so much Earl, there are so many who could learn what the meaning of Customer Service is from you. Also I want to thank Squeeze for his input and expertise in this matter. What an amazing group of people we have here. :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:
  9. I logged in to my ebay. I like to just look around so I try to choose "motorcycles" but a drop box comes down forcing me to pick a specific brand?? I dint want a specific brand I want to browse through everything. Since the motors selection box went to the Grey highlighted look this change took place. Anyone else seeing this?? So the menu bar from my ebay now will not allow you to choose just automobiles, or just motorcycles. You have to use the drop down box next to SEARCH to be able to just browse . Not a huge deal, but different to get used to.
  10. I noticed that the dates on the merchandise threads are 2006, Is the merchandise listed in the threads still available? I would have asked in the specific Merchandise threads , but Im not allowed to post in them.
  11. Idle speed adjustment – RPM’s (2006 RSTD) I am seeking guidance on the correct procedure to check/adjust engine idle speed before doing a carburetor synchronization on my “06” RSTD. What specific equipment is needed (timing light with RPM feature, etc.) to properly set the idle speed? I have downloaded the file (Free bird) from this site (Tech Library) for doing this carburetor synchronization. Specific instructions are appreciated. There is nothing like avoiding the pitfalls of life in motorcycle care and maintenance with sharing the wisdom of others who have been there and successfully done that. Thanks 2Flights
  12. After reading through the post on the online station, it gave me some really good suggestions for songs to download to my MP3. Then I thought it would be a great thread. Be specific on the song name. As you guys recommend them, I'm gonna download the ones I like. Thanks in advance.... Already downloaded lots of CCR, Black Betty, Danger Zone, etc. Keep em coming.
  13. Well guys, after a bunch of research on the subject, I broke down and ordered a Scorpio SR I900. This puppy has RFID technology so it automatically disarms when you approach and arms when you walk away. It has shock/motion and tilt sensors, a self contained battery back up and an INCREDIBLY load siren. I got mine with the optional Yamaha specific wiring harness, so installation was a snap. Started this morning and had it completely ready to go in less than an hour. Everything fit under the seat. No wires to cut, just a factory connector to unplug and a new harness to insert in the middle. Run one wire to the hot side of the battery, locate the items and you're done. No idea how well it will hold up yet, but it looks well made and at this point works as advertised. I am VERY satisfied thus far and would encourage anyone interested in an alarm to check 'em out. I got mine online at absolutecycle.com for $339 with free shipping, and that included the cycle specific wiring harness. My insurance company gave me a discount of $24 dollars a year-not a chunk, but still better than nothing.
  14. Before all you comedians comment, I mean flushing a motorcycle cooling system, with chemicals. Just thought I'd throw that in first. Ha Ha! Now then, has anyone ever done this and what did they use? Did you use regular automotive cooling system flush formulated and safe for aluminum or was it bike specific? I don't really believe mine needs it but I am going to do it anyway. Just looking for some advise and experienced guidance.
  15. Within the next 2 weeks I will be putting a new Kumho CT on my Venture. That is a given considering the crappy miles I have been getting with a MC tire on the rear. I am also considering buying a REAR MC tire and installing it backwards on the FRONT rim. What say ye gentlemen? Any specific brand should I go with for the front of the scoot? Boomer......ready for the Darkside.....and Thanks for any responses!

    Bondo

I am not the greatest at body work, and am not terribly knowledgeable in such. I am a fair hand at painting since I used to paint the cabins on my model helis. So, on my first gen, I have been repairing the cracks with some plastic epoxy that I found. It melts the plastic a bit before setting up. Only problem is there are some gaps and voids that need filling in. So, is there a specific kind of filler I should use on a plastic substrate, that is flexible? From what I know of regular bondo, it is hard and doesn't handle flexing too well. Thanks
  17. Sorry - posted that last one under 1st Gen.... Regardless - somebody (appears to be a bike salvor) is parting a low mileage Millenium. Greatful that my Millenium is not in need of anything... but I also know how hard it is to find Millenium specific parts (tank, trunk, fairings, bags, etc). Much as I hate to see anybody take one of these apart.... if you need Millenium specific parts... look now on eBay.
  18. Tire questions are just about as worn out as clutch whine questions for us. So I appologize. And, of course the subject of tire preference has already been discussed at length. But, I'm not looking for tire brand opinions right now. I already know what I want. This season, I just want to try out a specific new tire to see how I like it, and what I am looking for, is a reliable vendor with a great price. I understand that the subject of tire preference has already been discussed at length for years now. But, I'm not looking for tire brand opinions right now. I already know what I want. This season, I just want to try out a specific new tire to see how I like it, and what I am looking for, is a reliable vendor with a great price. Because I have neither the time, experience or the proper tools to pull the wheels myself, I will have to bring my '07 Venture in to the dealer to change the tires. The price they charge to change both tires makes me cringe - $161 (and that's just for labor!) I know what is involved, and that it takes time. But still . . . Ouch! These are the tires I want to buy. Dunlop Elite IIIs 150/80/16 Front $164 150/90/15 Rear $191 These are my local dealer's prices (including a 10% STAR discount): So, the total cost for these tires & installation = $516 (Not including tax). I don't think that I will find a better price around here for the labor. So, I'm trying to save some money on the tires. I have done a lot of on-line searching, but I'm having difficulty finding vendors who carry this specific brand, model and size(s). Can anyone offer me some recommendations for vendors who for sure have these tires in the size I am looking for? I have already checked the websites for: SouthWest Moto (No telephone number) American Moto Tire (No telephone number) And, I couldn't find the right sizes. Okay guys, what do you think? Thanks & Be Safe! Pete.

  20. I have been reading about the noises coming from the rear end drive pins and I would like to take mine apart to grease things up, are there specific instructions for doing this or can I just wing it?
  21. :sign **** happens: Any one have a long haul first gen specific toolkit that has proved to be adequate over the years and I dont need to pull a trailer for? Have the original factory kit but wish to supplement. Anyone filled a tire from an engine cylinder after plugging, or what works best? Canned air maybe? Any new multi purpose tools, gadgets carried for the dreaded event? Any specific electrical items other than the standard spare wire, connectors, tape, maybe multi meter etc carried? I know, I know I worry too much! Just humor me please.
  22. Hi all... With my '01 on its way I am already researching my first add-on. I have always ridden with highway pegs and I assume the RSV will be no different for long trips. I see alot of references to the kuryakyn pegs but are there any specific model numbers or other brands that I should be looking at? Thanks for the help guys. Merry Christmas...
