1. Anyone have any experince with the Pass. highway pegs. We're using the bike more and more for vacations and the wife would like to be able to stretch her legs a bit. Any isues with them? They look as if they would interfer with your legs if you were stopped, just standing up holding the bike? Thansk!
2. Okay I searched the forum and found some good info, however I guess my question is a little different. I am 5'8'' and would llike to be able to extend my legs out from the floorboards when on the highway. As we all know the summer and highway heat can at times add to the heat off the engine. I really don't care to have the lower air deflectors added. Could anyone with some insight on this subject please comment. We have a 5 day trip to the Texas hill country scheduled at the end of September and really like to have some pegs in place by then. Thanks
3. To start off. What size is the bar on a stock 85 Venture? The grips need changing. I have the stock style rubber ons on right now but was thinking of going to foam. I always ride with gloves. Insight? What works best, and bang for the buck? I was looking at highway pegs on ebay. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Heavy-Duty-Universal-Yamaha-Chrome-Gold-Inlay-Highway-Pegs-Footpegs-1-1-1-4-/271114329183?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1fac5c5f&vxp=mtr They look really cool. Anyone have experience good or bad? Of course the price is right. Thanks Brad
4. Has anyone tried these passenger highway foot boards? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=42&Category_ID=6&manufacturer_ID=167&product_ID=3515 I just ordered a set for my RSV in hopes of solving the problem they mention, "Eliminate the whine from your passenger seat". They won't ship until the 18th of August so I won't know how good they are until then. I was just curious to know if anyone else has tried these.
5. Wondering if you would share the type of hyway pegs you've installed on your MKII and why you like them.
6. Has anyone successfully managed to lower the front footpegs on a 1st Gen. I am 6ft tall with a 33" inseam. The bike, despite its bulk, is cramped. Even with the pegs adjusted as far back as they will go there still isn't room for me to fit the two front pockets without my knees catching them. For the first 500 miles this isn't much of an issue. After that, up to around 1000 miles I start getting cramp in my knees and pelvis. This can be alleviated some by a combination of shifting my feet onto the highway pegs, or riding with just my toes on the riders pegs. Standing on the pegs helps too, but the wind blast is no fun! So I am thinking that "unbending" the knees a bit would actually help quite a lot. That could be done by raising the seat, or lowering the footpegs. I can deal with the seat but was wondering if anyone had managed to drop the pegs by about an inch.
7. My wife would like somewhere to put her feet higher than her footboards on our RSTD. She has put her feet on top of the saddle bags, which caused me to suck the uphostery on the seat right up my @#$%&!!! when I realized she did it. Anyone mount a set of pegs up a little higher and did the fold out of the way? Thanks. R.
8. I got the 91 Voyager looking and running good needs more work but it kicks but, I am gonna sell my 86 VR if anyone is interested. IO replaced the windshield, mirrors left side fairing that I found that had some damage from a garage fire but was better than the one that was on there, synced the carbs and found split vacuum lines I fixed, replaced the crash bars and put new highway pegs on and kinda cleaned it up. I went for a nice 90 mile ride this morning and it rides greats expert for the cruise that works intermittent. I also put a Butler mug on it. I don't like the floorboards that are on my VR I would rather have the pegs like on this voyager.
9. Anybody ever looked into lowering floorboards an inch or so for long legged riders.I have been looking at a 2012 RSV and they seem to sit high enough to allow such a mod without creating too much of a drag issue in corners, but maybe i am wrong.I am 6 foot 3 and maybe raising seat is an option also. I can always do highway pegs anyways but the floorboards just feel too high for my long legs.I normally ride a Raider and I am use to forward controls and pegs.Maybe pegs would be a good solution.Anybody have pics of a floorbaord to peg conversion?
10. has any one used foot pegs as oppposed to floor boards ? cant stand floorboards, this the first bike I've ever had with floor boards, did I mention I dont like them:Venture:
11. If you are looking for more comfort for your passenger check this out. I recently installed a pair of Kuryakyn highway pegs for the passenger on my Goldwing. My wife has now ridden with them a couple of times and she said they do make the ride more comfortable and they allow her to move her feet around. They don't get in my way at all and when not in use they just fold flat against the side cover and they add more chrome. Here are some photos. Dennis
12. We just got our Royal Star Venture (what do I call it, a Venture? An RSV?) and we're both noticing WOW it's HOT on the feet. He has highway pegs so he's fine but I'm wondering if anyone has any solution for the passenger??? I really cannot STAND hot feet and would love passenger highway pegs - are there such a thing? I know you can get passenger foot rests to give you different positions from Diamond but is there anything I can get that puts them out into the wind? Thanks!!!
13. I am thinking of adding highway pegs to my 86 VR. Just wondering what folks have used for these bikes. The fairings are kind of in the way to stick my legs past but it would be nice to stretch out on the long rides. Pictures? Thanks, Gary Just did a search and found most of the info.....
14. .. of this .... http://spokane.craigslist.org/mcy/2477091080.html A 2007 Lees-ure Lite Excel tent trailer manufactured in Osoyoos, BC. http://www.leesurelite.com/tenttrailers.asp This unit includes the following options ... 5 ft Awning (c/w poles, pegs, ropes) 5 ft Add-a-room 7 ft Screened awning (c/w poles, pegs, ropes) Foam mattress with removable cover Storage pod Rain tarp Wide tire upgrade Aluminum storage container Swivel coupler New cost of this unit is just under $7,400. We found a few others but not all had the options that this one does and most were higher priced. Thanks so much to 67mini67 for his original post of this unit and for going and checking it out for us. We expect to pick it up on our return trip from Cody. Consideration was given to getting it en-route to Cody and using it while there but we had no way to haul our other necessary camping gear down to Spokane. This unit will be used occasionally over the next 3 years but is primarilly for our extended tour when we retire.
15. I have a Venture Dad hitch on my RSV and satisfied with it. Need some suggestions for a hitch to put on my soon to be 2008 wing. Also some suggestion for hy-way pegs, keeping in mind I'm vertically challenged (29" inseam). Trying to keep costs down but quality up.
16. I'm sure this has been asked, but, I'd like to add highway pegs to my 06 RSTD. I have no other accessories mounted down there....looking at Kuryakin...any suggestions on brands, models, mounts? Thanks!
17. I've had my Kury Longhorn Pegs in the perfect position since I got the RSTD. A few months ago I added the lower wind deflectors (Yamaha). I cant seem to come up with the right adjustment for the pegs now without interfering with the deflectors. Their either too close or too low. Does anyone know of pegs that extend farther out to clear the deflectors but still allow for some height adjustment? Option 2: What do I use to trim the deflector? (If anyone else has done this, can you provide a picture? I dont care for this option because of the price paid for lower wind deflectors.)
18. OK,I had my pegs perfect UNTIL I sat on another GL1800..Hum whats the difference in the foot pegs I wondered..same as mine, same style, same area on crash guards mounted...I had to ask was it the seat? The answer was Kurakyn part # 8008A adjustable peg end, male mount. It replaces the "Clevis" or part that angles up when folding the highway peg up,with an adjustable clevis. I just put them on and I am loving it! I kept wondering how all my friends that are anywhere from 6ft 2 inches up to 6ft 9 inches looked so comfortable riding the Wing, now I know, they ALL have this on their highway pegs! http://motorcyclestuffwarehouse.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=136_447&products_id=2966 I bought mine from Texas Cycle Chrome in Houston
19. I believe Carbon 1 makes supports for front foot pegs for 2nd Gens. I looked in various threads and can't find his article. Can anyone help me with the post or tell me what state Carbon 1 resides in. Thanks.
20. Well, I did a little design work on my Dash and the passenger foot pegs and thought that I would share the photo with you. I put chrome plastic buttons on the dash along with chrome diamond strip. I also put chrome diamonds on top of the Radio control. Also changed out the chrome near the fuel cap and added "Free Spirit" covers to the Brake and Clutch reserviors. Forgive me for the diamonds but I will have to admit that they are not real!! ha ha Got the chrome knobs and diamonds at Petboys. DanC:cool10:
21. Found this site, and the cruiser pegs are interesting. Especially if your legs don't reach forward enough to the crash bars http://www.aeromachmfg.com thought someone might want a look-see
22. What a great addition to my wing.Put on a Kuryakyn backrest and highway pegs what a difference especially the backrest. Did a 400 mile trip to naples Fl no back pain very comfortable ride. Highway pegs are ok but i don't like the way my legs wrap around the motor. Seems a little ac ward may have to try some floor boards. Also put on some baker hand wings there great keep a lot of wind off your hands. Can't wait to get the lower baker wings.
23. This whats happens to it ,I guess I better stop scraping my foot pegs
24. Hi all, I'm looking for some passenger highway pegs we saw on a very tall gent's Venture this summer. Problem is, we can't remember when we saw him & his bike, or on which ride it was on. I believe it may have been on the "Just Another Road Terip" memorial ride in the Picton, ON area last July. I have attached a sketch I made of the style for the pegs as I remember them. The are NOT the Diamond R set. If anyone knows who this person is or where this style of pegs is available, please let me know. Thanks. Bruno G "The Hat"
25. Another thing I want to do for my winter project is replace my worn-out driver foot pegs. I know you can find used ones occasionally on ebay, etc., but I would rather buy new aftermarket pegs than replace them with another 20+ year old set. So the question, does anybody make aftermarket pegs the will fit our bikes? Mine is an '86 VR. Thanks!
