  1. 5 years later than the last post but it works. Cap off or loose and tie handle down.
  2. Wishing you a`speedy and complete recovery.
  3. I haven't been watching this site lately but noticed the St Augustine meet coming up on the 4th. Last one I went to was at a place that has become one of our family favorites in JAX called Clarks Fish Camp on the Intercoastal Waterway not too far from St. Augustine. Not sure if I will be in town but if so I plan on coming regardless. If you check their website I think you will be impressed but it is just a suggestion. clarksfishcamp.com
  4. Awesome job Yamagirl. I have an identical 84 but could use a little clean up. I'm over on Lake City and would like to see Big Red. Maybe we could meet somewhere on I-10 and I'll pop for your lunch in exchange for your info on your rebuild.
  5. You never know what a person can hear while in a "vegetative" state so minister to him when you see him if he is still alive. Our prayers is that he will be more alive when God takes him home. Peace to you and your family.
  6. I travel quite a bit and I usually go to Tripadvisor.com and read the comments for each hotel/motel.
  7. Got everything together and engine runs pretty good now but still needs some fine tuning. Couldn't have done it without the help from the group here. Looking forwards to a North FL meet and eat sometime. Thanks to all.
  8. Sorry I can't answer your questions regarding the actual sizes of the jets. I too tried to find the info on the mikuni website but didn't have any luck. At first I thought they related to mm to decimal sizes but couldn't prove that either. Maybe someone that has a few different size jets laying around and the ability to accurately measure the holes with pin gauges can tell us.
  9. Thanks Gary and Bill. I have an 84 so I know the one jet is a different size which I have found. I pulled all my jets after I looked at one a saw 117 on it and stripped the others down. Come to find out the PO had the carbs worked on and some of the jets have a different marking or none at all. Will probably order some new sets to be sure they are all the same. Did notice in some of my reading that sometimes the jets in the rear cyls. might have a slightly different jet than the front cyls. Anyone do this to their bike?
  10. Dingy, I didn't see anything for your last posting re: carb info.
  11. Abusive Throttle Cranker's "HERE" is not a link. I found the page in the manual that details the jets and their location but the numbers don't give their actual sizes. Some of the jets I have are not stamped clearly so I too would like to know the actual diameters of the jets and their proper locations in the entire carb.
  12. Thanks Dingy, Considering their location I can see where if they were leaking they would cause problems. As long as they are just to seal off the access to the jets I'll make sure mine are tight or make new ones. Just have to find the K&L 18-2879 carb kits to start putting them back together.
  13. Just what do those two rubber plugs in the jet block do? Are they just plugs or does the one with a hole in the bottom actually goes through to act like a vent? Mine look like they are just plugs and before I assemble my carbs I can cut some new ones on my lathe if thats all they are?
  14. I kept bidding every week and got a set from Motorsport in Miami and installed them as described on the previous links. One thing I found helpful when getting the diaphragms seated between the plastic collar and the other one was to slide a .025 feeler gauge blade on the backside of the diaphragm to seat it properly. I found that when it is seated properly you can turn the diaphragm to line up the tab while positioning the small hole at the bottom of the slide to face the engine which I assume means to point to the cylinder it is on. I don't quite understand why it should point hat way but that is what I did.
  15. Randy, The reason I say one carb is that I have all the screws backed off so the other 3 are closed. I had the three adjusted to just touching the stops with the first carb but I noticed that the adjustments on the 2nd and 3rd screw seem to move the first off of the somewhat closed position and again it would die with any throttle.
