  1. Wow! I was impressed. 38 MPG for a 27 year old motor with 34K miles! Awesome.
  2. Been a while since I posted so I thought I would let everyone know what's going on with my 83 Venture Royale. It is officially hot here in Phoenix now. Too hot to ride. My mechanic is taking the bike this week and will sync the carbs and fixed the throttle. The throttle response is poor when I come off the gas - it takes too long to get back down to idle. The other issue I am going to have him investigate is the heat. The bike just feels like it is very hot in the area around my legs - much hotter than other bikes I have ridden. I want him to check out the cooling system and make sure everything is good to go. Once I get the mechanics done, its off to the painter. I am having the bike painted in a metallic grey (same color as my 2004 F150). Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
  3. Walmart didn't have any 4" speakers in stock. Went across the street to Best Buy and picked up a set of Kenwoods 120watt speakers for $40 after tax. I'll instll this weekend time permitting.
  4. Thanks. I'll head over to walmart tomorrow and look for them.
  5. I am really enjoying my recently acquired 83 Venture Royale. I believe the radio speakers and in desparate need of replacement. Can someone tell me what size replacement speakers I need to get? I don't want to take the fairing apart to see because I want to ride the bike up until I'm ready to do the speaker swap. Thanks!
  6. The ability to use ipod would be nice. First, I need to replace the stereo speakers. They are shot!
  7. I'm not sure how well you can see it in this picture - definitely 2 colors. Look at the luggage or the side cover under the seat. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn179/e065206/83%20Venture%20Royale/PICT0003Medium.jpg The red is a metallic color so it is likely the Crimson Sparkle. What the other color is, I don't know.
  8. On the last page, there is the listing for the 1983 model (my model). Shows two colors - a gold and a crimson black. My bike is definitely not gold. But there are definitely 2 colors on my bike which I believe are original. A deep red/purple and a gray or black. Looks like the code for Sparkle Crimson Black is OAY. I'll take that to a paint store and see if they can show me a sample.
  9. I want to repaint my motorcycle. It is currently a two tone paint scheme (see pic in my signature). Where would I find the paint codes? Since I will likely paint it myself, I will likely just go with the single color - haven't decided yet if it will be the red or the gray.
  10. I would not rate it as "great". However, it is far superior to using the browser. In fact, of all the apps I have on my apple, this is the only one I ever purchased. All the others are free apps. Using the browser is troublesome because you need to move things around, resize, etc. The app formats it for the smartphone and only gives the critical information. I really like it. You can try the free version of the app which I believe lets you read posts, but not reply.
  11. I didnt' even know there was a blackberry version. IF you find one that works, please let me know!
  12. Thanks for the input. I guess I'll go aftermarket. Not many CB users out there anymore anyways.
  13. My Venture Royale does not have a CB Radio. thirdbike (from classifieds) will sell me the control unit and the transformer/filter piece that fits to it. What else do I need to add a CB to my bike? -Vinny
