  3. Today was a beautifull day in the Cascade mountains of WA state, and my sweetie and I rode our '88VR from home here in the Tacoma WA area, over Chinook Pass (Hwy 410) and down the eastern slopes stopping at Whistlin Jacks Lodge for a huge fish and chips lunch, then on a little farther on to see the newly realigned highway replacing the one that was buried in Americas biggest landslide on record, then turning around and came back home the same route. 264 miles round trip and achieved 49.63 mpg by keeping to the posted speed limits, and running mostly on cruise control. Amazing..... for me that is. I think my bike is running well........ and I just might squeeze a 245 mile range out of a tankfull of 89 grade fuel. Just sayin...... -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83,88 Venture

  6. Hi Guys! I have a 1980 Honda CB 750K which has an pretty old throttle-lock on it that I would like to replace with a more recent made, better quality one. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that isn't too pricey but which is pretty good quality? The attached pictures are what my current one looks like. Thanks for any suggestions! Be Safe! Pete
  7. I was wondering if anyone new how to get in touch with Pete. Not sure what he goes by on here and not even sure he is on here anymore. He is the guy who rode the new victory at Vogel. If you do I would like to know how Thanks Rick
  8. I am wanting and needing to get my carbs rebuilt. This guy quoted me with new parts for about $300. This price includes taking them off the bike and putting them back on. Goes by the name of Carb Doctor or Johnny D, he is based in St Pete. Anybody in this area heard of any his work? Thanks, Ross

  10. Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of the smooth backing plates? Apparently, Yamaha has discontinued this item. # STR-4NK27-03-01 I have contacted a number of the better-know dealers which we often refer each other too, but have had no luck. Odds are though, there just has to be a set sitting around somewhere. Thanks guys! Pete.
  11. Just got in from the Moose Jaw SK, M and E and had a great day, the weather held out and threatened to rain once or twice, but not much materialized. It was great meeting old friends and new and I would like to thank everyone for coming out and making it a great time. We had Alberta Clipper from Medicine Hat AB, Billm30 and Shirley from Calgary AB, Rocket from Wainwright AB, Big Bob from Gravelbourg SK, BJB from Swift Current SK, and me, friesman from Regina SK. We met at Boston Pizza for a quick lunch and coffee and then headed out to Pete (Tessa2c) and Hazels place at Herbert SK. about an hour and 20 minute ride west from Moose Jaw. (there wasnt many turns, but it was a good ride...lol!) Pete seems to be doing very well, and they treated us to some great hospitality and great eats! mmmmm barbeque sausage and ribs...mmmmm and all the trimmings till we couldnt get back on our bikes. Thanks to Hazel and Pete for all the wonderful hospitality and thanks for letting us take over your home. Its so good to see you guys. Brian oops almost forgot here are a few pics , just follow the link http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/20090516May16_08

  13. Okay, I got my tax refund and there's probably enough left over to pick-up a DK3 for my '07 Venture. Anyone have any good leads on where I can find the best price for one? Thanks! Pete.
  14. A while back I said I would report back on getting my "I" basket done. I finally had enough time planned for non-riding and got the work done recently. I took it to RER Motorcity in Monroe CT. The service manager's name is Pete. He said that while they had not done an "I" basket he knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the whine. He said they would contact Yamaha and coordinate everything for me. He than took me into the back and introduced me to the mechanic that would actually be doing the work. The shop was clean and well organized even though it was very busy. They ordered the part and we scheduled an actual day for the work. Once they got into the replacement they found out that Yammy had not sent a gasket they needed for the job. Pete called me that day and told me what had happened. He called Yamaha and arraigned for them to send the needed gasket. After two days Yamaha had not sent the gasket and Pete called them again, With out any coaxing from me he "discussed" it with them and Yammy sent it to him via overnight (hehehe). Through out the whole process Pete kept me well informed and was definately my advocate with Yamaha. I told him about this forum and told him I would tell everyone about my experience with RER. He apoligized to me for the delays but said that now that they know exactly what to do, and what is required, they are more than ready to help out anyone else that would need the "I" basket change under warrenty. I would highly recommend RER for the "I" basket work. As for the whine, well mine is gone, adios, sayanora, tata, out of here and I love this bike even more than before (which I didn't think possible). Now the only whine associated with this bike is me whining about not getting enough riding time.
  15. Are there any left out there somewhere? Marilyn and I received one each from tessac2 (Pete) last and just love em....thanks again Pete! Marilyn lost hers somewhere on the road to Kitchener and I would like to get her another one. It would be a surprise so please dont PM me as that would appear on our email and she reads those....but seldom if never reads anything on our site here. Of course all financial things would be taken care of by me. Thanks
