I have a 2009 royal star touring deluxe and noticed that the swing are when on my lift has about a .003-.005 side play on the swing arm. The factory manual says there is not supposed to be any. Has anyone had this issue and if so what is the proceedure to take the side play out.

I have a 2009 Royal star touring deluxe and am currently servicing it and found the reear swing arm has some end play in it. The end play has about .003-.005 side play on it. Is this a concern and if so what is needed to take this play out. Does the exhaust have to be removed to get access to the through bolt.

I have found a 2009 RSV with a just installed Hannigan Trike kit here locally, they are asking $21,900.00 for it, yet they have a 2006 RSV with the same for 27,900.00. i picked up my brand new 2009 rstd from the dealership on Friday. 15 km into my initial ride I pulled up at a red light when the light changed all of a sudden I had no gears what so ever. Although it is in deed under warantee i would love to here from the membership as to how I should handle this situation. needless to say I am very disapointed.

The race is held on the Isle of Man and was part of the Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championships until safety concerns caused it’s removal from the series in 1977. To preserve the race’s status, the Isle of Man TT races became part of the TT Formula 1 Championship from 1977 to 1990. From that point on the Isle of Man Department of Tourism conducts the race as part of the Isle of Man TT Festival. The race started in 1907 and has always been a time trial format on public roads. Between 1907 and 2009 (at the end of 2009 TT races period) there have been 237 deaths during official practices or races on the Snaefell Mountain Course.

I just made reservations at The Oberlin Inn for Friday Night. I figured I would try them again. I liked the over hang for parking the bikes. The price is $89.95 for the Venturerider group. I currently have 2009 WW Autoroute DEM Basemap NR 3.00 Software version 4.00 GPS 2.90 DSP 2.40 Text 4.00 Voice 2.60 I cannot find anything newer. Garming says all but maps are current. I find it hard to believe that 2009 stuff is current but hey you never know. Anyone have any additional knowledge of current software or firmware for this unit?? Also lifetime maps seems like a good deal at 90 bucks. Thoughts??

Looks like I will be traveling to Phoenix in the next week or so to pick up my new 2009 Venture S, I am finalizing the deal as I type. I'm looking for information on a stealership or maybe some available garage space to do the 600 mile service, (oil change, rear diff fluid). I will be on my way back to West By God Virginia, a total of about 2200 miles. If anyone has information about a convenient stealership close to the interstate near there, please share that information with me. As is the same if anyone has the ability and desire to host/help for the change, that of course would be much appreciated. I am mechnaically inclined and do all of my own service, but that of course is when I have the facilities to do such. Heard today from K&N, Yamaha will not relase other Venture until 2012 or 2013. They showed a 2011 (Blue/black) in their dealer book. This must be left overs from 2009. I wonder what Yamaha is up to now for the touring market.

I wanted to post a good comment about dealer Turn1 in Plymouth, Indiana. They are a dealer for Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Victory (and Polaris). I had tire troubles with my old Bushtec trailer on the trip to Potato Creek. After several stops and tele calls elsewhere trying to find new tires and tubes, Turn1 took care of me. They had tubes in stock, and ordered a pair of new tires for me which they installed on Thursday as I was leaving the International Rally. They were knowledgeable, and good to work with, and made time for me while I was on the road. And their prices seemed quite fair. I'll point out that they have a pair of new-old stock Ventures on the floor. A 2009 Red/Black, and a 2008 Silver S model. And a used 2009 Seashell/Raven. Also having a Victory factory truck demo days on July 30-31 which I wish I was nearby to take advantage of. http://turn1.com/

I decided to put the HD antennas on the Venture. I thought it would look better. It really does. I made these out of aluminum stock and found some bolts to fit. If I can figure out how to make photos attach I'll put them here. I'm going to a custom bike shop and have the part made from steel and chromed. And also have them get me some chrome bolts and star washers. If anyone would like to do the same conversion, we can get a break on the custom work. I'll wait a couple of weeks to get a price. The antennas are 2009 HD, CB and AM/FM/WB. They cost $30.00 each. It has to be 2009 or later because the 2008 and older do not have the load in the antenna. Rich

OK...I printed off Freebird's excellent instructions for splitting the fairing...and then as I was reading over them, I noticed these were published in 2006. I have a 2009 Venture WITH THE LIGHT BAR BRACKET, so I know I won't have to remove my lights...but are there ANY other changes on splitting the fairing from the 2006 models up to the 2009 models? Any MORE tips or things to look out for. I am splitting my fairing so I can install (actually replace), the wiring harness for my Garmin 665 GPS. Anything, TIPS, TOOLS, or WARNINGS would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wally

I know we just about beat this to death, but it is a VERY annoying sound. My question is that can I ASSUME that my 2009 already has the "I" Basket clutch assembly installed? Or is it possible I could still have an earlier clutch basket in the bike. Thanks, Wally

Does anyone out ther have a passenger backrest pan to fit a 2009 Royal Star Venture trunk? Doesnt matter if cushion is torn or in good shape. I recon anything 1999 to 2009 will work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A very good friend asked me to ride his brand new Vintage Chief from the dealer to his house. He is recuperating from a leg ingury. He already has three bikes (2005 Triumph Bonneville, 2009 Harley Ultra and a 2006 Venture. This was a treat for me, and the bike is awesome. The color light green and cream with distressed leather seat and saddle bags looked great. The twenty mile trip in the cold could have been better, but I survived and it is a great machine.
