  2. is there directions some where on this site for splitting the lower fairing thanks mike
  3. OK...I printed off Freebird's excellent instructions for splitting the fairing...and then as I was reading over them, I noticed these were published in 2006. I have a 2009 Venture WITH THE LIGHT BAR BRACKET, so I know I won't have to remove my lights...but are there ANY other changes on splitting the fairing from the 2006 models up to the 2009 models? Any MORE tips or things to look out for. I am splitting my fairing so I can install (actually replace), the wiring harness for my Garmin 665 GPS. Anything, TIPS, TOOLS, or WARNINGS would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wally
  4. Hey good people, I just picked up my '09 Venture last Sunday and due to a hand injury a month ago, I'm unable to ride my new scoot for at least another 2 weeks or more. So in the meantime, since I bought myself a truck load of chrome, I have plenty of time to accessorize and customize my bike to pass time till I actually do get to ride. I've been reading past posts in regards to what to do under the fairing after you've split it but I can't recall where to find them again so through this thread, I'd appreciate your input on things to do once you've pulled the fairing apart by helping me put together a 1-2-3 list of the things required. I'd really like to do this as a one time thing unless something drastic happens later. I have a few accessories that require pulling the fairing so while I'm under there, I'd like to be able to get all the jobs done in one shot. (I recall things like adding dialectric grease to electric connectors, rerouting a jack input for the MP3, adding a second accessory plug etc.) So with your help, we can compile a nice list that others can utilize too. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance....... Bluez
  5. Everything went great & love the sound. Nice little rumble. I used Freebird's (i think) method of removing the clamp cover/shield from the stock mufflers, splitting them and riveting them back on the rk's. Worked out really well. Just wish it was'nt so nasty outside.
  6. I don't know you and you don't know me....but, I just HAD to say thanks. Today I installed a headlight modulator and ran the wire for the new passing lamps I'll be installing (when they arrive:bang head:). Anyway.....The tech articles on splitting the fairing & gas tank removal were just awesome. Thanks again and hopefully one day our roads will cross!!
  7. I have seen and read the very good "how-to" on splitting the 2nd gen faring. Now that I am ready to do it, I can't find it. Would someone be so kind as to point me to this article? Thank you!
  8. well, my son gave me a XM sat. Radio for Christmas, and I just bought the cable and splitter today, so it looks like tomorrow I will be splitting the fairing and doing the install... any one have any pointers on this??
  9. Is there a horizontal left to right headlight adj. If so can it be adj without splitting the fairing?
