  1. How does one repair/replace/fix a ruptured cover for the noise sensing microphone on the VR radio controls? -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83, 88 Venture
  2. I am using two CBDNROHSB Chatterbox headsets, bought them last December, started using them this spring. We were getting a lot of external noise (wind, etc.) and I thought it was from the passenger microphone because I figured she was getting more wind buffeting than me. I finally got to the point that I turn off the intercom until we need to communicate, just too much noise. Well, I have discovered that it's my microphone creating all of the outside noise, not from the passenger. The only way I can stop the noise is by using my left hand to cover the mike, squeeze my fingers together and really tighten my fist around the microphone. I compress the foam down to the point I can feel the microphone under the foam and then the noise stops. If I just cover the mike loosely it doesn't help. I'm wondering if anyone else is using this particular headset kit (or another from Chatterbox) and what your experience with it has been.
  3. We have J&M headsets in our helmets and the speakers hurt our ears on long rides. We would like to try earbuds. It doesn't look like I can remove the speakers without cutting wires. I don't want to cannibalize our headsets in case we want to go back to them someday. Is there a place to get a microphone only with a 5 pin plug? Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Ross
  4. The cradel for the Garmin 765T has a port for an external microphone. Does any one know if the external microphone cable for the Garmin could be wired into the 5 pin cable on the 2G so that you can use a regular head set microphone instead of a Blurtooth enabled head set and a Zumo 550 setup? The 765T is so much cheaper than the Zumo 550, so if you could still make a hands free phone call that would be ideal.
  5. does anyone have a diagram for the pin positioning for the communication system on the Venture. I need a schematic for the pins to make a new microphone, need to know which pins to use going in to the bike. Thanks guys.
  6. I have created a Teamspeak server just for Venturerider members. It's like chat, only you speak instead of typing. It works great, and as many people can be on it as I allow at one time. Great for getting on and just shooting the bull. You can get it at www.teamspeak.com . You'll want to download the client, not the server. You will need either a headset with microphone, or a microphone with speakers. It is completely free. If you download it, and need help setting it up, just PM me, or catch me in the chat room, and I will talk you through it. My IP is monty.servegame.org the port is 8767 no password for now.
  7. The microphone socket on the drivers conector/cable from the tank to the radio isn't working. The other aspects of the cable work fine. That is I have sound from the radio I just can't communicate out. However, when I plug into the passenger plug the my microphone works. The driver's connector just doesn't work. I also found that one of sockets for a pin is loose. So I suspect that it is broken inside the plug. The cable is $50 from Yamaha, does anyone know of an inexpensive alternative to Yamaha?
  8. Hey Folks: Need some help: I wear a half helmet and wife and I really do not need to have IC/CB for traveling…BUT I have a need this weekend (and past times) to have IC/CB for a group ride….I read posts and just got the IMC HS G45U for half helmets. I know Gary N. has them and gives them two thumbs up…Just using for occasional group riding. Anyway…I read everything in the owners manual and have one question…. When I hook them up…Radio_Aux-CB comes in OK...I can talk into the microphone without pushing the talk button and hear myself in the earphones….Is there something up or this normal.....I can not read anything about this anywhere….This happens when I have the radio on/off…CB on/off….both on/off…makes no difference…Could you experienced IC/CB folks help me out and let me know if this is normal…Again..just talk into the microphone and hear myself in the earphones...Thanks for any help provided.... George In Virginia….
  9. I was wondering if anyone is using a handheld microphone for their CB radio. My friend has a Harley Ultra Classic with this setup and I like the way he is able to use a half-helmet with no headset. What experience have others had? If you are using a handheld mic, where did you get it? Can you provide a link? Thanks much!
  10. I purchased the P/N STR-4XY89-50-KT (2 EACH) for my 2008 RSV. They both bombed! One had no audio from the microphone at all. The other one the audio output was about 5% of the 100% that would have been normal. I've been in 2 way communication/electronics over 40 years and these were the pits! These are the ones purchased through your Yamaha Dealer. Buyer Beware! Does anyone know where I can get some that actually work on this bike? I need EVERYTHING to work properly for group rides. Need head to tail commo.

    Microphone help

I am looking for a microphone that I can switch easily between helmets. I don't need a headset as I listen through the external speakers. I ride Tailgunner and am constantly talking to the Road Captain so a handheld model won't work. I have an older J&M set that works fine, but it is a hassle to move around and the boom mic is giant. Does anyone know of a throat microphone available that will plug into my 2nd Gen's CB? I would also consider a compact mini-boom that I attach - as long as I don't have to mess with the ear phones. Any help is appreciated.
  12. I wear a half helmet and go on group rides frequently. I am looking for a CB microphone handset for the RSV that plugs in and can hang on the Bars. dont want it on my helmet. Are there any?
