  1. Trying "the GPS question" a diff way: Which is the least expensive Garmin(refurb Ok) GPS that supports MP3 and phone calls(via bluetooth) Was thinking of opening my Nuvi265WT and adding a mic in and audio out so I could then use buddyrich cable. But then how to get an external MP3 player attached as well and will a phone call mute the MP3? (don't think so) Can't afford ZUMO sp!ke
  2. 2007 GL1800 Audio--- Asking for recommendations for GPS with external audio connection so I can connect it to the Auxillary lead cord in the left fairing pocket. I have installed the power outlet, and have the aux. connector lead wire in the pocket. So-o-o-o I should have all the necessary hook-ups available, just need to know what to shop for so it can be connected for us to hear it through our headsets. Oh yeh, and to mount it. I have Garmin 255W for the truck and car and it works fine for us, but has no connection for external speakers. Thanks.
  3. Hi everyone. My wife and I pull a trailer when we go on our long trips. We camp most of the time and like to bring as much stuff as possible. I want to get a midsize, deep cycle battery to tote around in the trailer to power things around our campsite. I have a modest 350watt power inverter which is ample for what we need (we run mostly led xmas lights, phone chargers, small lcd TV, small laptop and a laser kaleidoscope. Also various 12v items. Not all at the same time). However, I don't like the idea of it running off the bike battery all night. Which leads me to my next question.. How could I rig it up to have the bike charging the external battery while we're riding? Is it as simple as just hooking it up in parallel with the main battery? Thanks everyone!
  4. I'm looking for help/info with regard to external hard drive back ups. I want to get something & a program that I can download a back up from a different location. Confusing ? yep - Here's what I want to do; I will have a computer in a building apart from my home and across town. There will be people cataloging information/pictures on that computer. At the end of the day I want to back up that information on an external hard drive which will be located at my home. The reason for this particular action is many but foremost is in case of fire/theft or any other unforeseen act. Thanks for any help. Dick
  5. Radio, CB, MP3 and other External Audio (still under construction) Q: How do I use an MP3 player or other audio device with my Venture? A: There is an Aux input jack right next to the stat-of-the-art cassette player in the fairing. In addition, many owners have used a splitter in the Aux input line to add an additional input jack right next to the Aux power jack on the left side of the fairing (be advised, however, that you should NOT connect two external audio devices at the same time, even if you have two jacks, unless you use some type of external isolation device to prevent probably damage to one or both of the audio devices). Please see the threads in this section of the Technical Library for all the answers: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=74]Radio, CB, GPS, Etc. - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Q: My CB antenna is on a different side of the bike than my buddy's antenna - how do I know which one is right, and does it make a difference? A: The CB antenna should be on the left side of the trunk. It makes a difference because the CB unit is mounted under the trunk, and the antenna wire from it is not long enough to reach the CB antenna if it was mounted on the wrong side during dealer prep of your bike.
  6. The cradel for the Garmin 765T has a port for an external microphone. Does any one know if the external microphone cable for the Garmin could be wired into the 5 pin cable on the 2G so that you can use a regular head set microphone instead of a Blurtooth enabled head set and a Zumo 550 setup? The 765T is so much cheaper than the Zumo 550, so if you could still make a hands free phone call that would be ideal.
  7. This is an interesting study on motorcycle oils. If this has been posted before, sorry, I couldn't find it anywhere. Edited by V7Goose: Man, I don't know what was wrong with that pdf file originally attachd here, but it stunk up several of my computers BAD (massive memory useage, huge page file, SLOW, etc.). So I deleted it and added an external link here: http://www.synthetic-oil-tech.com/MC%20White%20paper-g2156.pdf (If anyone has downloaded and saved the original file from this post, I suggest you delete it and save the one from the link. The file is twice as big, but it won't mess up your computer!)
  8. I just finished putting in the Buddy Rich fix for using the cell over the zumo, and it works great. My question is that the head set I have hangs over my ears and is really uncomfortable. If I switch back to the external speakers will the mic still work? If no one knows I will give it a shot when I get home this afternoon.
