1. Glad to hear you guys had a good time. Sorry I wasn't able to attend, hopefully next time.
2. Thanks for the kind words Larry. It was awesome meeting you too and I look forward to many future rides. One of the best things about this site is it not only a wealth of info, but it gives us a chance to meet other really great people with similar interests. I agree with Larry that I have made another friend, when we might not have ever met without this site. The funny part is, we've been within 2 miles of each other on a daily basis for at least 3 months and didn't even know it. Sean PS: Thanks again for the nice gift even though it wasn't expected or needed!
3. Larry, I live in Arlington, work in Burlington and have a Carbtune that you are more than welcome to use if you'd rather not spend the money on one. I'd be more than happy to show you how to use it anytime. If you'd still like to buy your own, I'd be more than happy to show you how to get it set up and use it. Don't get me started on how Skagit screwed me last year when I had them install my tires! Drop me a line anytime hindu121@hotmail.com. Of course we might have to take a ride to test it out after!
4. Larry, I bought one of these at Wallyworld in Marysville about 2 months ago. Can't remember the price, but they had them and I wasn't able to find them at any of the auto parts stores. If they don't have them, check at the auto parts store (Carquest) right next to the Aurora Rents store just off the island on the right hand side. Ask for Keith if he doesn't have it, he will get it for you as quick as he can. I would have went there first, but mine went out at night and I was right by Wallyworld and they had them. Sean
5. Out West??? You were at least 1200 miles from us out West! Looks like fun though.
6. These work really well and are cheap. Fit easily into you trunk. Click on the link and go to the accessories section. I have the kickstand pad. http://store.mm411.com/
7. Mine changed from the speakers to the headset output when I took my battery out. If you have it going through the headsets and you turn up the volume loud enough you can just barely hear it from the back like you are hearing. I would check to make sure the output in on SP and not HS.
8. I did notice it was done by Amsoil. Thought the tests and results were kind of interesting though. I have worked for a few companies that have paid for testing on products to try to prove that our product was "better". In fear of being sued by the competition, usually what happens is if during testing, your product doesn't score well in an area or maybe even the whole thing, you just don't put it in the findings or in one case I was involved in, you don't publish anything, you go back and improve the product because it's not up to the competition. What I've found is if you look at the results in the study, they are usually fairly accurate or they would be an uproar from the competition. Not that I'd base my entire decision on a product by a study, but it does give a little insight.
9. This is an interesting study on motorcycle oils. If this has been posted before, sorry, I couldn't find it anywhere. Edited by V7Goose: Man, I don't know what was wrong with that pdf file originally attachd here, but it stunk up several of my computers BAD (massive memory useage, huge page file, SLOW, etc.). So I deleted it and added an external link here: http://www.synthetic-oil-tech.com/MC%20White%20paper-g2156.pdf (If anyone has downloaded and saved the original file from this post, I suggest you delete it and save the one from the link. The file is twice as big, but it won't mess up your computer!)
10. Just thought I'd warn everyone about how useless OnStar is so you don't waste your money like we did. Long story short, we decided to try it on my wife's Yukon as she drives across the mountains quite a bit. We haven't needed it for almost a year until during the big snow and ice storms we had in December. We pulled to a stop at a stop sign and the road angled towards the ditch. Well it was so icy that when we stopped we slid directly sideways onto the top edge of the ditch. We couldn't move by ourselves and people that tried to help would just about slide in with us as we would just go deeper as it was so icy. So we decided to use our OnStar as we had paid for it. When we called the rep looked up where we were located and said "oh, we can't send anyone out as it is our company policy to not dispatch anyone when it puts them in danger and with the snow and ice it will so we can't". He told us we had to call a tow truck or the police on our own as nobody was hurt. I was ticked off, let him and the supervisor know that we would be canceling as I say very little use for it when it was dry and warm out. I also told him I would be posting it on this message board and he told me that wouldn't affect their business one bit so go ahead. Not real interested in customer service! We called a tow truck and they wouldn't come without the police calling them. When we called the sherriff, his response to our OnStar issue was "yeah, I hear that quite a bit. for every one person they help, I hear of 5 others that they wouldn't". So be warned!! Big waste of money IMHO.
11. First thing to try is to plug hard wire directly from the cable/dsl modem to the computer and work for 30 minutes to see if you have the problem. If everything is ok there, it's a very good chance it's the router. I just had a cable modem go out and it was doing the same thing. I've also had a router go out and it will also act the same way so make sure to rule out the connection then look into the router.
12. http://www.supercircuits.com/ This company has everything. Can pretty much set up any system you want.
13. Scooter, I live in Arlington which is north of Seattle. Lots of great riding around here. I'd head up the Oregon coast (hwy 101), over the Astoria bridge into Washington up through Long Beach. You can then head up the coast and catch one of the ferries or head a bit east and hit I-5 at Olympia. I would recommend the North Cascades over Hwy 20 to head east of the mountains, it's a great ride. The option of heading into Canada then east is also great if you have the extra time. Let me know if you need more specifics. I would be happy to help you plan a route through Washington. You'll want to keep a close eye out for the deer around here, that can really ruin a trip.
14. I had the same problem but was unable to find anything that worked very well. I have been using this belt when she rides with me for years (even before I had the Venture). This seemed to make it better that she couldn't reach the floorboards flat footed. She even falls asleep without a problem. She is big enough now to ride without it but she'd rather not. http://www.childridingbelt.com/enghome.htm
15. As you will see, I have spent waaaayyy too much time on this subject. Did all the research and talked to many people and depending on which article you read or who you talk to you will get different answers. So a buddy of mine and I did the following believe it or not. We each went to Costco (because they had a super easy return policy) and a local ma & pa store with guys we know that would take returns back no problem also. We are both in the same area (15 miles apart) and he is on DirectTV and me on our local cable company. We each bought the same DLP (Mitsubishi 58" if I remember correctly). Took it home, hooked it up and tried it out. Took it back, both grabbed the Vizio 42" LCD did the same. Then the Sceptre 37" LCD. We then went to the local shop and tried the LG 46" (if I remember the size correctly) Plasma and last but not least the LG 46" LCD. Believe it or not we disagreed a bit on the results, but here's what we found. By the way we have both set up more than a dozen TV's and surround sound systems for friends an family. 1. We found that it's true each person has a different eye and it's ultimately up to the user what they think is best. 2. We both thought that the DLP probably had the most vibrant colors but we both have seen too many of these sets of our friends have to get returned for various picture issues in less than a year. I personally wouldn't own one. 3. If you can't tell the difference between a regular channel and an HD channel, your system is not hooked up correctly and you are not truely getting HD even if you aren't paying for it. Had this happen to 3 different friend and all were set up incorrectly and after a few adjustments, WALA! 4. The plasma sets were probably a slightly better picture than the LCD, but not by much. Not enough to justify the price difference. My buddy thought the Plasma was more of a diffence than I did. 5. The Visio was a pretty good set and the price was pretty good, but not as good as the Sceptre. 6. The Sceptre was the best picture for the best price. Costco online carries these and the bigger ones sell out very quickly. Keep an eye out. 7. We both ended up with the LG 46" LCD 1080P TV for our main TV's (I have the 37" Sceptre in my bedroom. Super happy with it and glad we did this little test, we learned a lot. If you can get local channels over an antenna, vs using your cable or satelite signal, do it. Much better picture and it's free. You don't really need a 1080P TV yet because nothing is being broadcast in 1080P at this point but will be coming soon so if you don't want to buy a new TV in a few years, I'd recommend getting a 1080P set. Don't trust the signal and picture in the store. They make the unit they are pushing look the best. Hope this helps a bit. And yes, we spent WAAAAAYYYY too much time on this topic. Although when I started the wife said she couldn't tell a differnce between regular and HD and just wanted to stick with my old HD projection set and our $150 set in the bedroom. She wouldn't let me take the Sceptre back, wanted it in the bedroom. She's now come over to the dark side too!!
