  1. I'm new to the forum, but no stranger to the Royal Star. Eventually traded my RSTD for a car some years ago and now it's time for another one. This time, I want the Venture and so the search began. Online, local, classifieds, marketplace etc and of course by doing so, I came across https://Rumbleon.com. Hesitant to buy online and have the bike shipped, I kept looking. After about a month, I circled back after reading more about their company, warming up to the idea of their online business model, making sure they were legit. (BTW, I don't work for and I'm not affiliated in any way other than I'm an actual customer) After I paid my online deposit I got a call explaining two details. First, bike had just been picked up from the customer and was on it's way to NPA for processing, which takes a few days. Second, upon arrival to NPA, a condition report needed to be completed. This also takes a few days. Just got the condition report today. 1999 Venture w/20k miles for $2,988 free shipping no dealer fee. I can back out now and get a full refund or if I commit, I'll have 3 days upon it's arrival to decide to keep it or restock it. $500 restocking fee. I think I'll roll the dice on this one! Paid by Visa over the phone with all the paperwork being sent to me next day air for me to sign and return. The bike will then travel to the Atlanta hub and on to my house! 2. Looking at a 2007 RSV..anything in particular to look for? Bike has 20k miles. Thanks in advance
  3. Does anyone have any experience with an overbuilt lift I am thinking of buying this for my motor home. http://treasure.craigslist.org/rvs/3466103809.html

  5. Looking at buying a multimeter for some simple use on the bike, etc. What do y'all think about this one? http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoTools/MultiTesters/PRD~0251060P/MotoMaster+Digital+Multimeter.jsp?locale=en or maybe this one... http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoTools/MultiTesters/PRD~0251031P/Digital+Multimeter.jsp?locale=en
  6. Today is an adventure day. Two years ago on last month, I flew to Ohio to buy & drive home with my current motorcycle. Today I'm taking a bus to Louisville, KY. At 7AM tomorrow, the seller is picking me up. I should be buying it & on the road by 10AM for a 10 hour ride back home. Late Saturday or Sunday I'll be home with the new MC Trike (depending on temp & weather). Two years ago when I flew in to Ohio, A VentureRider.org member met me there. He had just conversed with me when I newly became a member & talked about buying a RSV from Adventure HD. He & his wife picked me up at the airport, took me to the HD dealer, invited me to their house for pizza & beer, helped me change the rear tire & then escorted me 20 miles to get me started. I will never forget that HummingBird. Thanks! BTW - This seller is a previous VentureRider.org member. JohnB
  7. A fellow over on the STAR forums is moving and clearing out items he does not want to move, he posted the note below. "I have a stock seat for a 1999 RSV. Excellent shape, came off bike shortly after buying the bike and stored since then. Also have stock seat to 2004 Road Star Silverado. It was removed almost immediately after buying the bike. Both are free to anyone needing them. PLese let me know if you have a home for them, hate to put them in the land fill. " Paul Kinas Here is a ink to his post on STAR's web site if your are interested and not a member of STAR, I would be happy to pass it along to him. http://www.startouring.org/forum/default.aspx?f=12&m=140454
  8. ...and buying this... [ame] [/ame]
  9. Anybody here have any experience with r1150gs or r1200gs? I'm thinking about buying one just wondering what owners or previous owners think about them.
  10. We have floorboards on my wife's 84 1200 trike and were wondering if they could be fitted to a 93 1300 that we are thinking of buying as a replacement which will also be triked. We are looking at several 93s but only one has floorboards.
  11. Well I got the clutch bled properly, checked the air pressure in the tires and went for a ride. The class is acting up...I have to press on the connection from behind to see the display..but other than that it seems to be working OK. Went for a 1/2 hr ride and changed the oil and filter (I know ....that should have been done BEFORE it was stored) Does anyone have a set of chrome speaker trim? I think they were from Ventureline.....just an "outline" of the speaker grill in chrome. I'd be interested in buying a pair if anyone has some. Also looking for the chrome tabs that go on the top-back corners of the faring...they are about 3" long, with a 90 degree bend and cover the corner.
  12. Moving up from a GL1500 to a Venture. Wife demands a comfy seat for touring. Gave a lot of consideration to GL1800 but I like the looks of the Venture a lot more, the lower seat, and it seems to have less problems. Been shopping a lot. Most likely will be buying a 2007 or newer. Best deal I see right now is a 2008 with 9300 miles for just under $10k. got a few questions: 1. Are there any problems specific to certain model years of the 2nd Gen design? 2. has anyone reported successful addition of an electric windshield to a Venture? (if not I'll probably be doing it and will report here.) 3. Buying used Venture still under 5 year OEM warranty is there any paperwork I should be getting with the bike? 4. how do I determine how much warranty is left? Looking forward to participating here. Already planning my 1st trip this summer to visit daughter in the USMC in N.C. Mark in MN
  13. Can you say SCAM????? I had my hopes up that I might be able to pick up a Valk at a very favourable price but the return E-Mail seems to be screaming "SCAM". This is the return message: the bike is still for sale and is in excellent condition as you can see from the pictures. Some minor plastic scratches,no accidents or any kind of damage and it has a clear title. If you are interested in buying it, the price is $****.00 and this is with shipping costs to your location included. I'm selling the bike because I can't use it due to my new job (I work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship) and I don't have anyone in the US to whom I can give it. All documents, including owner's manual, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will be provided along with the bike. Also about payment and shipping I will use only eBay Vehicle Protection Program so we can both be protected. If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay. Man, I hate that!
  14. I am in the market of buying a '99 -'03 RSV. My price range is 4,000 to 5,500 dollars. In that price I will be getting a RSV with 50,000 to 75,000 miles. To me .....that's higher miles on a bike.....but I know these Engines/Trans/Drivelines are good for 200,000 miles plus.....so I guess what I am asking is since I will be buying a higher mileage RSV.....what are the big problems that I should be watching for when shopping for an RSV with 75,000-100,000 miles? I am really beginning to like the look of the RSV Millinimum Edition......very different.....buy very classy in my eyes. Thank You.
  15. Hey all, I've been in the market for a bit for either a Venture or Goldwing. Someone in my hometown has an 1983 Venture Royale with 19,000 miles on it and is asking 1,800 bucks. He says it starts and runs fine and is at his auto dealership so he is going to drive it back to his house tomorrow to sell (about 40 miles). Sounds like an honest guy overall and he said he has owned it for only two months and intended on keeping it (just got the plates for it last week) but he is hard up for cash and has to come up with 10 grand for something to do with his business partner. He said he's had at least 25 emails on the thing. He said he just bought it 2 months ago for 2,500. Could someone tell me if this is a good deal and also could it be a bad idea to buy this? Any recommendations? I'm 5'7 and currently own a vstar 650...just looking for something me and the wife could go on longer trips and be more comfortable. Thank you
  16. Bongobob is hosting a meet and eat at the Hearth restaurant today (Saturday) at 6 pm.....see the details in the meet and eat section of the forum.....Bob is buying........... at least ,thats what Rickster told me ...
  17. 1987 Venture Royale 30-35K on it. Plastic in good shape. Compressor works but only when jumped with a hot lead (any ideas on this problem?) Picking it up Sunday. Co-worker selling it to me for a good price IMHO. Sat in garage for a lot of years but has been gone through and runs. 1 spark plug fouled out. Can't believe I'm actually considering buying this 1gen being a 2nd gen lover. Any idea what the value actually is via guesstament with info given? I haven't even seen it yet but his description is something I believe.
  18. OK after my success with installing new springs, with a lot of hand holding from Rick, I am feeling cocky enough to tackle a valve adjustmnet on my 05 RSTD. I have read V7Gooses's excellent write up and every other thread I could find regarding this procedure. My big question is why does this need to be done? What happens if it is not done? I know there are a few of you out there that think this is a big wasted effort. I would like to hear why? Not trying to start another war like over the Dyna Beads or over the car tires just would like some good feedback from everyone. 2nd part: Has anyone actually tried using the suzuki shim tool on their 2nd gen http://pitposse.com/povashto.html or [ame=http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GTVOC8/ref=asc_df_B000GTVOC8956097/?tag=globa0a-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000GTVOC8&linkCode=asn?tag=citofgamonlco-20]Amazon.com: MOTION PRO SUZ VALVE SHIM TOOL 08-0017: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31ljmdffXzL.@@AMEPARAM@@31ljmdffXzL[/ame] ? Found shims at $5.17 ea http://www.z1enterprises.com/catalog.aspx?pid=YPEN1B. Considering buying a few from 2.55 to 2.85. Anyone know a source with better pricing? Are the sizes about what can be expected to replace? Might just borrow the kit from RandyR or another and restock theirs. Just looking at my options! Last but not least I want to wish everyone at this fine site a Blessed Merry Christmas. I am thankful that God has put all of you in my life and I am truly humbled by his signs of Love starting with his son!
  19. I don't own a Venture as of yet but it has to be on the top of my list for my second bike. It's an awesome machine from what I can tell and is definately a bargain(especially used) compared to the other popular baggers out there, Harley and Goldwing. I was wondering how much mileage can you get out of these Ventures? Here's an ad posted in my area for a 2000 Venture with what seems to me to be fairly high mileage: http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-street-cruisers-choppers-2000-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-W0QQAdIdZ238464566 That 139450 klms is 86,650.21 miles BTW, just to clear that up. The price seems pretty decent and the bike looks to be in good shape, it's just the mileage that kind of concerns me. I know that the seller is a stand-up guy, a machinist by trade and also a motorcycle mechanic. He wheels in deals in buying used bikes, fixes them up and only sells them when they have a clean bill of health. So, I wouldn't hesitate buying a bike from him, that's a plus. But again, what about the mileage?
  20. Well, Coudn't resist. Bought a 2006 Honda vtx 1800 R with sadlebags, windshield, new tires, and with just over 6,000 miles on it for $6500.00 out the door. Wil be picking it up within the next week and half. I know the routine, pics, pics. As soon as I get her home. Also going tomorrow to start the process of buying a house here. Hope they accept our bid. Will have 2 2car garages to store bikes in and in between them is a place for an RV.........Condor if you need space I have some avalible. lol.
  21. Can anyone give me info on where I can find the rules and regs of buying a bike in the States? Inquiring minds would like to know
  22. I am thinking of building a trailer to pull behind the bike. I have a cargo box carrier i can use on it, so i just have to build the frame. I am leaning towards buying a Harbor Freight trailer to use. I just cant build the trailer cheaper than buying it. My question is, should i buy the lighter duty trailer with the 8 inch wheels, or the heavier trailer with the 12 inchers. I can take springs out of the heavier etc. to help the ride if i have to. Wouldnt 12 inch tire be better?
  23. Someone sent the Sales Book on the 2010 Harley Davidsons,I've only ridden one in my life time and it was Police Special, anyways 3 models strike me that I would consider in buying if I were rich The Rocker c..XR1200 and The new FLHXSE CVO Street Glide
  24. Anyone interested in buying a CarbTune? I no longer have my RSTD and do not need it..
  25. I see a lot of engine parts for sale that the owner must have when they tore down the bike and now has pistons and connecting rods and bits and peices of the motor for sale. So who is buying any of this? It just looks like to me that it is a waist to even put this stuff on fleebay. So what do you all think???? Bubber
