  1. Thinking about taking off tomorrow and just riding all weekend, however Mr. Weather Man is saying it's going to top 100 degrees even in the mountains. Have not rode in 100 degree temps since last summer so I ask is anyone else planning on riding this weekend in the heat or is everyone going to just chill out indoors?
  2. We did have a beautiful weekend here in east Tennessee. I saw 74 degrees both days while riding and for the middle of January, this was record temperatures. It was good to get out and get a little seat time on Saturday with a friend that has just converted from a Goldwing to an 09 Venture. On Sunday, I rode alone and just enjoyed the day. There were a lot of motorcycles out and about everybody waved. The bad part about about having a warm day in the middle of winter is it seems just about every time we have a local motorcycle death. This weekend was no exception. We had a 77 year old man in a Cadillac pulled out in front of two on Honda's and one struck the car and the other crashed trying to miss the car. The 28 year old rider that struck the car died at the scene and the other rider, who is 18, is in the hospital. The only information the Highway Patrol has released at this time is charges are pending. I just wanted to take a moment and say that we all need to be extra diligent when we get out there and take those "off season" rides because many people just seem to forget about looking for motorcycles. The other thing is it seems like after not riding for a couple of months that we always want to crank it on some to clean the spider webs out. Be careful out there. RandyA
  3. Just when you think you are done riding for the season...we get one more nice weekend. Didn't matter that I had a ton of things to do at home. Working all week doesn't give me alot of time for chores at home...but then I hear the "B2" calling....wanna ride? wanna ride? And to heck with the "to do list"...and off we go. 70 degrees out, turning into a gorgeous "leaf looker ride"...and then I wonder...is THIS the last ride of the season? Hope not..but weather forecast does not look good for next weekend.
  4. Heavy frost and 28 degrees yesterday morning. Greeted this morning by a thin layer of snow/sleet. Mid 30's rain and snow for this weekend here in Western Nebraska. Several motorcycle related events cancelled or post poned.

  6. Had a phone call from Beer 30 and was asked if I would like to get together this weekend at Deadwood.Gene and Becky actually have a weekend off this is the first I know of in 3 or more months. So we are going to be at Deadwood in Beargrass Nc on saturday sept 29th at 12 noon for some good times and good food. Feel free to ride the bike drive the cage or get there anyway you can its been a LONG time since we have seen them away from work and I am sure its going to be great as usual Hope to see you there Jeff
  7. I just received an email that the new VentureRider flags have shipped. I should have them in about 3 business days which means I should be able to get them in the mail to you next weekend. I'm exited to see them and will post a picture once they arrive.
  8. Well we are leaving on the RSV and the new trailer Thursday after work for Vancouver BC for the long weekend, leaving from Sylvan Lake AB.
  9. Now that I have most of the wrinkles ironed out.. the old blonde seems to running like a top. I have put a few hundred miles on her and the last fill up shows 38 miles per gallon. Guess it is time to let her run me somewhere... so its off to Charleston sc for the weekend to visit a friend. Hopefully the journey will be as silky smooth as this v4 lol If any of y'all are in chucktown this weekend hit me up... Always for meetin and greetin fellow enthusiast! While in town I should be getting her loaded up with an led glow kit ... You know... To accentuate the safety chrome

  13. It is that time again. This Saturday (Aug 26) is the annual Saltspring Island Santa Toy Run. 16. Just wanted to say thanks to the general site membership. Been very valuable to me so far. Just got back from a small (500 mile) riding weekend and everything just worked great. - My stereo was locking up after 5 min of riding (ever since I brought it home). Pulled the connectors, contact cleaner and dielectric grease...worked like a champ the whole weekend. - Installed my baggershield windscreen while the fairing was apart....perfect with just the short section (I'm 6'4") - Built my first motorcycle trailer based on the tech info in the trailer section. Pulled straight and true...and she was loaded pretty good. - Hitch from Carbon 1 and aux wiring from M61A1MECH....again perfect. - Used Carbon 1's stand to put fresh E3's on the front and rear....that and dynabeads = 0 vibration. All this added up to me having a very enjoyable, troublefree weekend. Great site, and glad I'm a member. Now to try adjusting my carb floats and using the carbtune to set my A/F screws....I like that it's free and curious if it will affect my MPG at all. I seem to be at the standard 38-39.
  17. Hey have a safe trip to Americade and hope you all have a fantastic time, looks like we may not see you before you leave this weekend on your trip. Oh and try and keep Joey under control as well, I know it's a chore. Safe riding and enjoy.......
  18. Another great Memorial weekend in the books. I trust everyone is having a safe ride home today. It was great to see old friends and meet the new ones this year. We had a nice rides on both Saturday and Sunday even if it was a bit warm. And as usual, we managed to eat well. I didn't take a lot of photos myself but others did so please post a few here. Below are a few that I shot. Thanks to all who came and we hope to do it again next year. Dennis
  19. Thanks to a 3 day weekend I only have 2 items left to go before I can take her for a spin. I spent the last 3 days working on putting her all back together. Had to take some parts off a couple of times because I missed putting a couple of things on..........very frustrating. Waiting on the rear master brake cyl, and the throttle cables to arrive, hopefully I will be riding it next weekend, short little spins at first, but everything works like it should, ran it through the gears while up on the center stand and she shifts as good if not better than when I got her 8 years ago. I have never owned a bike this long, and have never taken the engine apart and changed a tranny, not really hard, but I dont want to do it again. Got lots of help from the tech section here, and help from some very helpful members.
  20. I heard a rumor this weekend that the FCC is doing changes to CB radio frequencies and if you don't do something by July 1, your radio won't work. Has anybody heard of this? And if so, what can be done to your radio?

    FINALLY: First Ride!

Having bought the bike on December 27th, I've been waiting a while to get out on the open road. Got the call from the shop yesterday that the bike was ready and safety certificate was in hand. Took off for a one hour ride, mixed country road and highway, with my first stop at Tim Horton's - gotta be Canadian, eh. Later I ran down to a friends house in the country - nice windy roads - to fix a fridge. Today, my wife and I will be heading out to my mom's cottage to open up for the season. That will be about a 4-5 hour ride as we will be taking the back roads and ENJOYING our first "two-up" on this bike. Have a GREAT WEEKEND everyone. Ride safe and may the angels ride with you. My dad used to warn me that my guardian angel left when I went over the speed limit or got stupid somehow... Let's all be SAFE and SMART out there this weekend. Cheers and Blessings,
