1. Happy New Year to all my Venture Rider friends and family. May God bless you and watch over you all as we ride into the new year that God has given us. I ‘m A Christian When I say I am a Christian I am not shouting that I have a perfect life; I'm whispering I was lost but now I'm found and forgiven. When I say I am a Christian, I don't speak of this with pride. I am confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide. I'm not trying to be strong; I'm professing that I'm weak, and need His strength to carry on. When I say I am a Christian, I'm not bragging of success; I'm admitting that I have failed, and need God to help me with my mess. I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible; but God has shown me He believes I am worth it. I still feel the sting of pain. Lord knows I have had my share of heartaches; more than some can imagine; but I always call upon His name. When I say I am a Christian, I'm not holier than thou; I'm just a simple sinner man who receives God's good grace; somehow! When I say that I am a Christian, I'm not perfect to any extent; I'm a sinner saved by grace, and happy that I can repent. James D. Fultz ( Fuzzy )
2. Monday... so if any of you fellow riders are in the area and would like to meet up let me know. was a great ride up we dodged the rain and it was PERFECT weather to ride, about 1/2 way up we stopped and put on a jacket and it was just right! we saw between 75 & 100 turkey's no lie & 7 deer...
3. Just wanted to say thanks to the general site membership. Been very valuable to me so far. Just got back from a small (500 mile) riding weekend and everything just worked great. - My stereo was locking up after 5 min of riding (ever since I brought it home). Pulled the connectors, contact cleaner and dielectric grease...worked like a champ the whole weekend. - Installed my baggershield windscreen while the fairing was apart....perfect with just the short section (I'm 6'4") - Built my first motorcycle trailer based on the tech info in the trailer section. Pulled straight and true...and she was loaded pretty good. - Hitch from Carbon 1 and aux wiring from M61A1MECH....again perfect. - Used Carbon 1's stand to put fresh E3's on the front and rear....that and dynabeads = 0 vibration. All this added up to me having a very enjoyable, troublefree weekend. Great site, and glad I'm a member. Now to try adjusting my carb floats and using the carbtune to set my A/F screws....I like that it's free and curious if it will affect my MPG at all. I seem to be at the standard 38-39.
4. Here it is again, June 21st, 15 years ago we took the plunge and decided it was time to have the same last name. Lots of drama and hard times, but lots of great memories. It isn't perfect, but I'll take it, and I'm glad that were still proving some folks wrong. Happy Anniversary I Love You Kiddo!
5. 14 bikes took a nice ride yesterday to the route 66 red carpet ride in Illinois. It is a festival celebrating the mother road. We had such a great ride with great friends and perfect weather. Museums about the history of the road and sights along the way.
6. For $0.01 each I'm pleased, so far. When they arrived, I thought how can 3 covers be in a package this small. Oh Well!!! They are not something I would use long term, but they will be perfect for traveling. The won't take up much space and will be great for use over night in a motel parking lot.
7. 4 to 4 Nasty boys not perfect need good cleaning a LX Star half helmet.
8. bought a cabin in northern michigan. going there on april 1st, and ready to ride the back roads and up to mackinaw! bought this garmin factory refurbished with 2 year warranty, case, and screen protector for 159.00. its model 1490lmt. installed a West Marine 12v accesory plug into #6 of skydocs fuse kit. works perfect! now i must think of a more permanent mounting solution. but, for the meantime, im going to use 550 cord as a lanyard....just in case.
9. this may have been posted before.....just about everything has been on the whining problem....yesterday i solved my problem very easily.....EAR PLUGS....it worked perfect....just wanted to share....sorry if this has been posted a thousand times before....
10. Looks like weather is going to be perfect for everyones ride Sat. to Memphis, Tn. It may be a little cool in the morning but perfect temps for daytime riding. Hope to see a lot of you there, its a trip that will leave a lasting impression on you after you see the facility ( St. Jude Children's Research Hospital). :Venture::Venture::Venture:
11. This question was asked a few months ago...... Now I personally have drawn hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of knowledge from this board not to mention dang good entertainment and camaraderie. the purpose of this post is that I just used a how to about fixing an e-4/e-1 code on the class system. followed Freebirds instructions reassembled and it now works perfect!!! Don't mind telling ya'll I feel a little proud of myself. soldering gun 5.86 solder 2.00 fixing it myself... priceless (with alot of help from friends I,ve never met) Thanks, Allen
12. I had been looking to get helmets with headsets so that the wife and I could take advantage of the VR sound system. I was wanting to go blue-tooth but anything decent was going to be a small fortune. The forum suggested looking for Goldwing helmets on Ebay or CL. I have been looking but finding helmets in the right size wasn't working out. A friend bought the Parrot SK4000 for $46 on Amazon. I did a search on here and found 1 post. This little device is perfect! I ended up buying one for each helmet. Installation was a breeze. The sound quality is very good but it really shines when talking to someone. I'm cruising down the road at 65 and they never even realize that I am on a bike. It has a remote or uses voice commands. Other than a software bug with automatic gain control, it has worked perfect. It even has a radio. In addition to blue-tooth support, it has an analog input port for my GPS or Ipod or whatever. Now if the wife and I want to talk, I just call her up on her phone. Most of us have unlimited minutes so its no big deal. I love the thing. I especially love it for $46! http://www.raymondstacy.com/parrot.jpg
13. It may not be totally full proof, but makes for an easy solution of securing it to the bike. I found this gun lock works great, it's a perfect fit and its coated in rubber to prevent scratching.
14. This bike is almost perfect. Victory is at least listening. http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/victory-motorcycles/touring/cross-country-tour/pages/overview.aspx?WT.si_n=VIC-AD-US-PRMO-2012_CROSS_CTRY_TOUR&WT.si_x=1&WT.ac=VIC-AD-US-PRMO-2012_CROSS_CTRY_TOUR
15. One of the things I wanted to do on going to Freebird’s MD was to take a little extra time and set up a route to take mostly secondary roads. By doing this, Linda and I set it up to only travel about 250 miles the first day, Thursday, and then about 200 the next day, stopping by Don’s on the way to Elyria, OH to check into our room. We started out from NE TN going up 23 thru VA and KY up to Portsmouth, OH, which are mostly curvy four lanes. We were early enough to be able to get into our room and take a swim, rest a little and then go out to dinner. After a great dinner, we walked along the levy on the river side then back on street side with all the murals. Very interesting way to present history of the area. With our walk being over a mile, it was nice exercise after being on the bike for about five hours. In putting this trip together, Linda and I found that we had about $85 on various Walmart gift cards left over from Christmas. This was a perfect way to use them up and have great memories. With this, I went on line and found Walmarts that have gas stations and was able to get almost all our trip gas by doing this along our way. Another thing that I had not really done before to any extent was to use a GPS on a trip. I have a cheap one that I bought off one of the sale things on the internet for about $39, plus $5 shipping and it worked great. What I did was to pick out some towns that I wanted to go thru and I would just load the center of town location. Then at about ten or so miles before I got to that town, I would call up the next town and that would help me get through or go around the town I had noted. I had found that by preprogramming, I could do about three touches on the screen and would be good to go. This also allowed me to get off on some of these secondary roads and not worry about going in circles. By doing it this way, it kept the GPS from trying to send me down the interstate. Friday was a great ride through the farm country on central Ohio and at times, it was like riding thru a moving postcard. There were the occasional farm tractors and school busses, but it was true Americana at its best. We were able to stop by Don’s and then get checked into our room and go to the Quaker Steak and Lube for a great visit and food. As many already know, Saturday was a great time, with some really neat folks and good food and helping out a little on some maintenance. I have to say that Don and Eileen are great hosts and have the perfect place for this kind of get together. I would have loved to have had the little camper and stayed there, but with the temperatures we had Saturday and Sunday, the air conditioned motel room was good. After going back to the room from Don’s, Linda and I rode up to Lake Erie and stopped at a couple of parks. It was interesting as I had not been there before, but flown over it some in a past job, but I was surprised at the lack of restaurants along the waterfront. Sunday morning, I rode over to Don’s to see a few off and visit again. This ended up being a lay around day and riding the area a little more. Monday we trekked down the middle of the state to a room we had reserved west of Charleston, WV. Again, a great meal and good rest and then the final leg back home on Friday. All in all, I can not think of a thing I would want to change other than maybe a little lower temperatures, but, we did not see a single drop of rain. We rode some beautiful roads, did not have any close calls and the bike ran absolutely perfect for a little over 1,200 miles. This says a lot for a bike over 28 years old with over 143,000 miles on it. I was a little surprised at the gas prices in that area as we have gas at about $3.40 at home and we saw $4.03. I truly feel very blessed to have so many friends on this site, have an antique bike that I am proud of that does so well and to have a very special person in my life that loves to ride and enjoys the back roads of America as much as I do. Life is very good. RandyA
16. center stand, reverse, horn that doesn't have to be replaced, fuel injection, cruise control that doesn't quit going up a hill, a better sounding audio system, no chirping and greater visiblity. put all of this on the RSV and you would have the perfect bike. having said all of that I really do love my RSV and with those few exceptions I really don't miss the wing although I haven't been on a long trip yet, hopefull that will be soon.
17. New here, will add more photos when he stops riding it long enough to take more pictures! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5261/5634591907_648b2b0173.jpg Not perfect, but 43K miles and runs perfect. Already laid it down gently in the driveway this morning and he was able to pick it up easy, no damage. It's got some scrapes already so he didn't feel like a moron. Glad I wasn't there to laugh at him, LOL!!!! 18. I like seeing my engine through the side covers and so I removed the vented panels. The problem is the massive amount of heat that blows on my feet and legs during the summer. I found 11" x 14" clear Lexan sheets at Home Depot for $3.49. They are the perfect size to make clear side panels. I made the panels and installed them yesterday. They work! I would show you pictures, but, you can't see the clear panels in a photo! Maybe they will get dirty . . .
19. 11 years ago today my beautiful wife said I do to me of all peaple. Now here I am happier now than I was then. Just had to brag as its not often that you can find your perfect woman. Love you babe David
20. THE PERFECT HUSBAND Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cellular phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen. MAN: "Hello" WOMAN: "Hi Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?" MAN: "Yes." WOMAN: "I was shopping and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only $2,000; is it OK if I buy it?" MAN: "Sure, go ahead if you like it that much." WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Lexus dealership and looked at all the new models. I saw one I really liked." MAN: "How much?" WOMAN: "$90,000." MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options." WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing... I was just talking to Janie and found out that the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking $980,000 for it." MAN: "Well, then go ahead and make an offer of $900,000. They'll probably take it. If not, we can go the extra eighty-thousand if it's what you really want." WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!" MAN: "Bye! I love you, too." The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths wide open. He turns and asks, "Anyone know who's phone this is?"
21. well we made it home awhile ago, and the meet was a total success. we thought it was going to be a washout cuz of rain. got a nice ride in friday and a really great ride saturday. what a great group. everything went picture perfect. i sold my wing to a really great guy, and he rode it all weekend. it was his and his wifes first venture rider meet and i think they really enjoyed it. i know linda and i had a wonderful time. the highlight of the meet was the trip to herman, mo. yesterday. it just happened that there was a fair going on there so we spent several hours sightseeing. i want to thank all the folks that attended. we consider them family. already planning a christmas get together, and a fall meet for next year. the temperature was perfect this time of year. the aftermath of the hurricane came and passed early so we got plenty of riding in. bill
22. We just returned from a trip from Omaha to the Grotto of the Redemption in IA then up to Okoboji and back. Just shy of a 500 mile trip. Perfect weather!! we spotted two Ventures riding together in Okoboji. Were they anyone on here?
23. Just checked my speedo with GPS..accurate at least up to 115..right with my speedo...Found the perfect hwy peg..Ergo peg with the addition of the mini arms by Kuryakyn.1.5 inch long and extends out a little..Now my legs are VERY comfortable... having the floorboards instead of pegs and hwy pegs that are perfect Did 500 miles yesterday..it was a breeze now getting ready for our 7000 mile trip starting 8/21/2010
24. This spring, the radio started losing station memory or messing up on the stations. But I was able to re-set them and things were OK. Then I rode an hour in the rain last Saturday. Dried the bike out over several days and went for a ride yesterday and now there is only one station...on all channels, and I can't use the seek, channel up/down or even change from FM to AM and back. The intercom and CB work perfect. Anyone dealt with this, and does anyone have a nice working radio section including the cassette they would be willing to sell? I want my tunes...luckily the one station is my favorite, but it has lousy reach.
25. Yes, sometimes the problem you are trying to slay is caused by the most simple cause, but even then it can be a REAL PITA to find! Been having a surge in my idle speed for the past few weeks, so today I decided to check it all out, re-set the carb mixture screws, and actually compare the screw settings I get when just using a tach compared to my exhaust gas analyzer in preparation for Maintenance day. Shoulda been pretty simple, right? But it was anything but! When I checked the mixture screws on #1 and #2, they made almost no difference in the idle speed. In fact, the bike actually picked up a bit and ran BETTER with the mixture screws for either of those two jugs ALL THE WAY IN!! Now that was weird. In contrast, the two right side jugs acted perfectly normal. So I hooked up the gas analyzer to check the CO% - no problem dialing in the right two, but those damned left two wouldn't get below 6% even with the mixture screws closed, and if I set them out around 3 turns, it was pumping 15% CO!!!! Plugs were not that old (about 12,000 miles), but I decided to put new ones in, just in case. Those left two were real black and sooty - either running mucho rich or lots of problems firing. Seemed unlikely I would have two bad plugs at once, but I crossed my fingers and fired it up again with the new ones - no joy. So now I am really stumped trying to figure out what coud be affecting just the left bank. Decided to check the sync - seemed unlikely, but I could imagine that something had gone haywire with the linkage. Got the gauges on there and sure enough, both left carbs were pulling a couple of inches of mercury less than the right. Aha! says I, now I'm on the track. But alas, no. It was not the sync. OK, this is long enough, so I'll jump to the end. While I'm futzing around and starting to get really annoyed, I happen to grab the choke knob and push it in, AND IT MOVES!!!! Simultaneously, the bike settles down to a perfect idle! And the carbs come right back into perfect sync too. That is all it was - choke just a tad out and hung up. Nine freaking hours later, and now all I gotta do is finally reset all the mixture screws that were probably just freakin' perfect to start with!. No moral here, just had to share my pain. Hope it helps someone to stop and think about their problem and get back to basics a little faster than I did! Goose
