  1. I wanted to share this with everybody here since I was SO impressed with this Ebay Seller. I just bought 2 Belstaff Zodiac summer jackets on Ebay for $49.99 each & they even REDUCED the shipping. (I paid $15 to have both shipped) The jackets I bought are made of Cordura with Hiena wear panels. It has reflective panels, vents velcro & zipper closure It also has a Thermalite liner. It's also waterproof and comes with ELBOW/SHOULDER/BACK ARMOR. Incredibly light & comfortable. They seem to run small so if you get one buy a size larger than your usual. The woman there Doris, was unbelievebly helpful on the phone. Here's a listing of their stuff, I highly recommend them. http://www.ebay.com/sch/roseburg.c.c/m.html?hash=item563fbb12f9&item=370436412153&pt=Apparel_Merchandise&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2562
  2. My decals which look like pinstriping are in poor condition on everything except the left and right main faring. They really bring down the appearance of the rest of the body panels. How can I get the old decals/stripes off and has any body found something close to replace them ?
  3. Does anyone have on their MKII the Chrome Guards for the Large Side Panels. If you do would you be willing to give me some dimensions. 1) Take one off your VR and trace the guard on a piece of paper. 2) Measure the diameter of the tube 3) Indicate on the drawing where the 4 mounting pieces go and their lengths. See Attachment. It might be a bit small.
  4. Anyone ever try and diagnose or repair the auto volume microphone in the 1st gen. ? Mine was working until this week. Possible that I got water in it washing the bike. Or I changed out my speakers. Pulled the radio and both side panels to install them. Also installed a noise filter on the C.B. I got used to the auto volume. JB
  5. How do I get the glue residue off the body panels after removing the pinstripes on a 1st gen?? I used a heat gun to soften pinstripes , then used a putty knife to remove the decal. Then thinner removed the bulk of the residue, but there is still a layer of adhesive the thinner won't touch. I can scrape it with a razor blade. I would rather not have to resort to this as I will end up nicking panels quite a bit, and time consuming. Any ideas ??? Gary
  6. What are the black plastic panels on top of each head? I would like to remove them.
  7. I need to replace the front right fairing panel on my '86 VR. I might be able to repair the one I have, but it is quite badly broken. Does anyone know if all the First Gens used the same front fairing? I read somewhere that they did. If that is the case I will only have a color problem. So ... Will the front fairing panels from the early first gens fit the '86 on models? Thanks.
  8. I like seeing my engine through the side covers and so I removed the vented panels. The problem is the massive amount of heat that blows on my feet and legs during the summer. I found 11" x 14" clear Lexan sheets at Home Depot for $3.49. They are the perfect size to make clear side panels. I made the panels and installed them yesterday. They work! I would show you pictures, but, you can't see the clear panels in a photo! Maybe they will get dirty . . .
  9. Below are some pictures of the first four panels from my cousins HD Road Glide. All are being done in a horror film/Halloween theme, with a different theme on each panel. Though side covers, which appear to both be pumpkins. Most of the characters in the panels have been modified to resemble Hogs. The left side of the tank is Freddie Kruger, but with hog features. Not for most people, but what he wanted. There is some extreme detail in theses. The guy that is doing them has put about a week in the tank alone. His bike is the orange on on the right in the last picture as it was. Gary
  10. Looks like i am finally going to get started on the repair/restoration of my 88VR. I am looking for fairing halvs in good or poor condition but repariable, I might even consider pieces that i can use to make what i have already got whole. Probably going to need the dash panels too... Just wanted to give Y'all first shot before i go to the web in seach of parts.
  11. I will start restoring my 88 in about 3-4 weeks. I am going to need, at the very least, the faring...both sides and dash panels. I need to know what years will fit? Anyone here have them, i'd just as soon spend my money here.
  12. Does anyone have a picture of the front lower, and side panels? I am specifically looking for how the panels attach to each other, not necessarily to the frame. I think I may be missing a piece or two. Thanks Kevin
  13. I was working on when I somehow lost concentration and darn near lost my thumb. I finally finished construction today, decided not to finish it - it a lot easier to stain, seal and finish before putting the pieces together. It's all poplar wood, even the side and back panels. I re-saw 3/4" boards up to 8" wide to make the panels. I definitely NOT a fan of fiber board -
  14. Just ordered 2 pair of Icon mesh ARC pants for warm weather riding and protection. Anyone tried these? Was told they are very cool in the summer. They have armor in the knees and reinforced panels. http://www.ridersdiscount.com/street-gear/pants-men/54689.php
  15. Well, I am getting back to the Venture, and finding more and more problems as I go along. Are the fuel tanks interchangeable among all the first gens? I guess if you weld a tank and then smear JB weld all over it, and use cheap paint, it'll last long enough to get it out of your hair. Are there any solutions to the dash panels, other than more broken ones off ebay? Has anyone successfully fabricated something that will work in lieu of the panels? If so, can I see some pics? Is it within the realm of possibility to graft a radio into a non-Royale Venture? Other than that, I am almost done giving it the "Krylon Touch" (Rustoleum to be honest) which has turned out surprisingly nice. I still need to sort the carbs. I have been through them but get big puffs of black smoke at full throttle, maybe I have some jets in the wrong place. Starting to get excited about it again.
  16. I prefer leaving the side engine panels off my '85 in cold weather. But in order to "clean up" the engine area, I'd like to remove the black support tube/bar that attaches to the frame and runs accross the bottom of the jugs front to back. Question is, does that bar do any more than support the plastic panels? I really can't see where it could play a more vital roll than that. Any input would be appreciated!
  17. Ok 2nd gen guys, get ready, something fell off a 1st gen. Well, it appears that when I towed Brad's bike to meet him, I may have lost both side panels. They were very snug when snapped in place, but due to having the seat off and the top tab not being held in place by the seat, they must have blown off, because when he got home, they were gone. It also appears that the way he put his straps on that it would have held the side panels in place if they were on when he strapped it down. I have offered him a spare set I have that are painted purple, but I would like to see if we can find some black ones first. So, let us go on a treasure hunt and see if we can find some black ones for him. Thanks, RandyA
