  1. As many of you know, I try to offer the highest quality parts at the best prices and combine them into my "KITS" to make the install easier. I do all of the brain work and you enjoy the benefits. I am now offering a "Kit" for First Gens. and Second Gens. (I didn't forget you guys!) that will replace the stock clutch spring with a VMAX clutch spring, AND a new FULL SIZED Clutch Disc to replace the "Wimpy" half Disc that is in the rear of the clutch pack, as well as a brand new Yamaha Clutch Cover Gasket. As usual, I am shipping these Clutch Upgrade Kits for free and the price is $67.00 to your door! Check the price on the PCW kit to find out what a deal this is. These kits come with written instructions and a link to the thread that explains the install, WITH PICS! The kits are different between the First Gens. and Second Gens. So be sure to order the right kit for your scoot. If you have questions or are not sure what parts you need, PLEASE feel free to PM me. Thanks for your time and good luck with your project, Earl If you have a First Gen. MKII VR (1986 to 1993) Here is a link to the ad: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2644/cat/500 If you have a Second Gen. RSV or RSTD here is a link to the ad: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2651
  2. where is the ground, for the battier on the 2nd Gens?
  3. One of our members, sgn, bought my 99 today.Sad to see it go but I believe it went to a good home. Now if I can get rid of these two 1st gens and the trailer we will almost be ready to hit the road.
  4. Hey Y'all, Anyone have a source for aftermarket or reasonably priced OEM windshield for 1st gens?
  5. I have proof that Yammer Dan loves the 2nd gens
  6. Can anyone tell me what they cost? Was told the second gens are a lot better...
  7. I have read about the problems with the 06/07 2nd Gens and the basket whine. I know that friends don't let friends buy 2nd Gens ( hey just couldn't resist ) But my friend wants me to go look at an 06 with 53K miles. Supposedly they want $4,000.00 for it. The price seems good, even a little low. What should I look for on an 06 ? What speed is the whine audible ? Anything else ? Probably no records as it is being sold at a local pawn shop and they have had it for a while. If I get the VIN, wouldn't the dealer be able to pull records ?
  8. I have a page that shows me all the Ventures up for sale on E-Bay. Lately therer have been a lot more 2nd Gens than 1st Gens. Guess they are finally getting tired of the Imitation Ventures.....:whistling:
  9. Just curious what are the choices for aftermarket seats for the second gens ? Any recomendations as to where the best deal is. Brad
  10. Just sitting here in my Fruit of the Looms doing some thinking. Do my best thinking like this at times. I know you use a CPAP machine as I do. Reading up on it and if you aren't using machine as you should your sleep will still be interrupted at times and these inturruptions can lead to memory loss. I guess you haven't been using your machine as you should. This explains why you have those memory lapses and forget the lesson taught to you about 1st Gens and 2nd Gens. Bringing "Brown Sugar' Down this year and she is faster than "UGLY" I may have to give lessons again in 1st Gen Ed 101.......:rotfl: Be good to see ya Bro!!!
  11. I keep hearing you guys with the first gen's bragging about how fast they are. Well, heres proof that my second gen is not only fast but handels very well also. This was done on Ga hwy 348 (Richard B. Russell Scenic Hwy.) which cuts through the mtn's of north Ga at some of ga's highest elevations. I never felt like I was doing more than 70mph. http://venturerider.org/forum/picture.php?pictureid=5687&albumid=517&dl=1310929526&thumb=1 I don't want to hear anything else about the speed of first gen's. :no-no-no::rasberry:
  12. Seems to be a common mod for 1st Gens, I have one on mine; but has anyone seen a need to do this for 2nd gens? Maybe the 1st gen's temp gauge has made us all paranoid OR the 2nds gen's lack thereof had made us all too complacent OR mother Yamaha has done proper engineering and I don't need to worry about it.
  13. Wondering if anyone here is taking 1st Gen Ventures on lond distance rides... and how long. I see/hear about newer bikes on long rides, but I haven't really of the 1st Gens.
  14. I need to replace the front right fairing panel on my '86 VR. I might be able to repair the one I have, but it is quite badly broken. Does anyone know if all the First Gens used the same front fairing? I read somewhere that they did. If that is the case I will only have a color problem. So ... Will the front fairing panels from the early first gens fit the '86 on models? Thanks.
  15. Anyone catch the EverGo Oxygen commercial? I could be mistaken but it looked like a midnight venture two up? Anyone here? I don't know about the oxygen part, but it did give me an idea about nitrous and those pesky 1st gens... right Yammer?
  16. After 8.5 years I sold my Vmax with the idea of buying a Venture. I came close to jumping on a few first gens and also a few second gens. Had a 99 all picked out but when I made the call they had sold it... guy emailed me after and said he had a 08 with 1100 miles on it. Checked the warranty date and held my breath for pics. Made the deposit that night. 10 days and the hole in my shop will be filled. She won't be as quick but I can always borrow my old max if I wanna go fast. I am anxious to see how the comfy people live. Thanks for all the ideas the forums have planted in the last few weeks...my wallet hates you all! Frank
  17. I know this was a big deal when I had my old '86 1st Gen, but some of our 2nd Gens are getting 10 + years of age on them. Are we seeing the same issues with the carb diaphragms on these bikes as we did the 1st Gens? If not, why?
  18. Thhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-IGNITOR-CDI-IGNITION-MODULE-/130298789825?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e5669bfc1 The way these things went on the 1st Gens sombody might want this one to put up.
  19. Sleeperhawk says this is what First Gens are great for!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkJTeTpxAgc]YouTube- Redneck Merry Go Round[/ame]
  20. I noticed that a company named Hinson makes clutch baskets for numerous motorcycles, including some Yamahas. I wonder if there would be enough business for them to engineer one for the 2nd gens, that might be a better solution to the engine whine than the iffy I-basket from Yamaha? I haven't contacted the compnay, and a quick internet search doesn't find the manufacturer, only resellers....
  21. Hello to all the VentureRider Members, This is Jean, Earl's wife. Earl injured his back a few weeks ago while working on a motorcycle for one of the members of the site. We had a really bad rain Friday, May 7th and he fell down the front porch stairs during the storm. I took him for a MRI on Monday, May 10th and he has ruptured a disk between L4 and L5 in his back. He is in a lot of pain and on some heavy duty pain meds. right now. If he is supplying parts for you, please be patient with him as he is bed ridden right now. I will be checking his emails daily, and will try my best to make sure that parts he has ordered for anyone are shipped in a timely manner. At this time, he is not able to sit up at the computer, but I will relay questions to him and return answers as they come. Everything in the classifieds for sale will be shipped until supplies run out. We have plenty of the batteries for the First Gens. and Second Gens. as well as most of the other items. We are hoping he will have a corrective surgery in the next few weeks and he will be back on his feet very soon. I have been following the problem with the Clutch Spring and as soon as the new springs arrive I will do my best to ship everyone a new spring as soon as I get them. If your bike is at Earl's shop for repairs, please contact me and I will let you know where he is in the repair process. We are both very sorry for this disruption in the services he provides, and I will do my best to continue to be of service to the members of this site. Your thoughts and prayers would be most helpful during this time, He so enjoys the friendships he had made on this site. It breaks my heart to see him in such pain, and to be deprived of the joy he receives from helping the members of this site. Please take a moment and say a prayer for him, I am so worried. Jean
  22. Hey Freebird I think it would be neat if we could have a section of the forum just for pictures of mods. Maybe divided for 1st gens, 2nd gens, and royalstars. What do you think? I hope this is not already set up since I couldn't find it! I think it would be awesome to get on and just look at the many different mods people have done to their bikes all in one convienient location. What do ya say?! Big Mike

  24. O.K. guys. I know a whole lot about the mechanicals of my 88 VR, but not much about the body, plastic, chrome, etc. Can all years of the 1st gens use the same trunk luggage rack? What I'm asking is if the 1200 and 1300 VRs had the same size and shape tail trunks? O.K. Is there anywhere to buy a new, good quality (maybe even N.O.S.) trunk rack for a VR these days? Thanks.
  25. Check this out on e-bay( New old stuff) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140386848177&_trksid=p2759.l1259
