  1. I have an appointment Monday to take my 06 RTSD in for the clutch whine. I talked to my service manager today and he says he is not aware of the "I" basket. Does anyone remember where the post was that listed the part number for the "I" basket and the phone number for the Yamaha rep. I want to have the part number and phone number with me when I get there because it sounds like I might need to educate my service dept. I'm sure I read a post that had this info. Any help please.
  2. Hello Everyone: I was able to get in a 50 mile winter ride yesterday. Dry roads and 42 degrees. I reflected back on my improvements this past season that have really made my cycling experience much nicer. Using my DroidX cell phone in Otterbox Defender case is a much welcomed improvement. Bluetoothed to my Nolan N103 helment gives me freedom to ride even when I am "On Call", something that I was always scared to do before, afraid I would miss an important callout. Adding a 12v accessory plug allows me power to my cell now. No more "low Battery indicators". Using a GPS program on my cell phone has given me a precise easy to READ "Speed" indicator. I always felt uneasy riding with my stock speedometer, knowing that it was 8 miles per hour off. Little improvements that have made a big difference for me.
  3. After being part of the Verizon program for many years and paying way too much for a cell phone and hating to be under a contract, I finally switched over to Straight Talk. I am not one to want or need one of the smart phones so the simple program works fine for me. I like a simple flip phone that I can close so I went to Walmart and bought one with a camera for about $50 and did the "All you need" program with 1000 anytime minutes, 1000 text messages and some internet for $30 for 30 days. They use Verizon towers, so the service is the same. It is easy to do the auto-fill and it is $32 and change with tax. For those of you that want it, they have unlimited everything for $45 + tax for 30 days. After I determined I liked what I got, Linda and I decided to do the same thing for her. But when I signed up on line for mine, I found that they also offer a bunch of different phones and some are free. We ended up getting a flip phone for Linda that looked brand new that had been refurbished and all she had to do was pick out the phone, which was an LG and buy the first month program with no contract. There is no activation fee and you can keep your old number if it is still active. Anyway, I thought I would throw this out to anyone that wants to look at a different alternative and so far I am very pleased. SGN, Steve Neal, did this and tried to get me to do this a long time ago and wish I had taken his advice then. RandyA
  4. I saw a couple of posts for stereo amps, but thats not what I was looking for. I am trying to boost the input on the AUX side. GPS dont seem to be to bad but if I use my phone for Pandora I really have to crank it up and then the quality suffers some. I have used a booteroo type amp in the phone side and it seemed to help but the battery dies in a few hours. I was thinking about just mounting it under the fairing when I install a splitter, but would have to fiure out a way to make a battery elminator and wire it straight in to a power source. I did see a fancy little unit with like 3 or 4 inputs and a volume knob but it was like $150. Any ideas?
  5. Curious to see if anyone is using the new Nokia 920 windows 8 phone. All reviews I read say its an outstanding phone and many are switching from I phone to it. Do we have any feedback from anyone on the board about it???? Joe
  6. On a recent trip I had a splitter for my Aux input so I could run the GPS and Pandora off my phone. The volume from the GPS was fine but I couldnt seem to get as much out of the phone, even turned way up. I did have my boosteroo with me and tried it but that didnt seem to help much. Is there any kind of amp that can be installed inline or the like for the Aux inputs? If I turn up the phone volume to say the very top the out put get sort of distorted, so I have to give it a couple clicks down. But then you have to run the volume on the bike @ 28-30 to hear it at 70mph.
  7. I pick the phone up & some1 from the desk says " sir I was wondering if you had went out to your bike to get your GPS?" I said NO why ? "well a guest reported some1 was getting it... So i slam the phone down and run out the door, ooops back in put pants on & then out the door. Sure enough some Son of a *itch" had tried to get my NEW 7'' screen Zumo GPS...they had it unplugged and out of the case BUT couldn't get the cord.. then some1 i guess scared them off... Needless to say I didn't sleep. I guess i went out to see if I could catch some1 messing with the bike 25 times.....I told my wife I guess it was good I didn't catch some1 cause I would have confronted them & my luck the SOB would had a gun & killed my AS$..
  8. My phone & wallet went through the wash Sunday, The Phone was also dried. It didn't make it. so for the few of you that actually talks to me buy phone. can you please send me your numbers again. Thanks. Mike
  9. A rider from Rome Georgia ran off Ga 19 north of Dahlonega Saturday and was killed. Copied from local news. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Missing motorcyclist found dead The Dahlonega Nugget The body of a missing Floyd County motorcyclist was found by local deputies Monday morning, approximately two days after he disappeared from a winding mountain roadway. Woodrow Clemmons Jr., 61, was just north of Stonepile Gap on Highway 19 when he apparently lost control of his bike and left the roadway. “It was a very steep part of the road where it dropped off,” said Investigator Wesley Burnett of the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to the accident, the Rome resident had been riding with a fellow biker who was in the area but reportedly didn’t witness the accident. “They got separated from one another,” said Burnett. “[Clemmons] hadn’t returned on Saturday and on Sunday morning they had been calling different locations checking on him.” A bulletin was soon issued to regional law enforcement officers advising them to be on the lookout for Clemmons and his Harley Davidson Working with the phone company, LCSO investigators were able to locate the victim’s cell phone which put them within a mile the accident site. “We went ahead and got a ping on the phone and we were able to locate him,” said Burnett. Officials said that it appeared as though Clemmons died in the actual accident.

  12. I didn't get my phone call, so I know it must have been rigged!!
  13. i'm sitting here with tears in my eyes writing this. i just talked to la on the phone, and he is'nt doing to well. i know he will be mad at me for posting this but i think all his friends should know. he has'nt been on the site since last december cuz he does'nt want folks to feel sorry for him. he said he does'nt go much farther than the grocery store any more. it's hard for me to picture the ambassador not out on the road heading to visit with one of us. i don't know if he gets on the computer anymore at all. but his phone number is on the members list. he is a true friend and i really miss riding with him and his drop in visits. i just wanted everyone to know his situation even if he does'nt. he sounded really depressed cuz he can't do the things he really loves anymore. maybe some of us can cheer him up a little. bill
  14. Eileen and I got home about 9:30 last night from a week on a houseboat on Lake Cumberlan in Kentucky. Could have easily enjoyed another week there doing nothing but floating around on the boat but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Had a great time though. I had internet there through my computer tethered to my phone but it was very slow. I checked in from time to time but if any of you addressed me specifically and got no answer, please let me know.
  15. Drove 110klm in the rain to Toronto this morning after work to deliver rad for you(Taz) to Kevin Black.Had no phone number so couldn't get a hold of him so I paid $15 and mailed it too him.Should get it next week sometime.
  16. TAPATALK not working on my phone for this site... Is it a problem with my phone, or are others having trouble too? It hasn't worked for about a week now.
  17. Looking for my cell phone yesterday and could not find it. Well I was unloading the dishwasher and guess what was in there? I have no clue how it got there but I thought of Eck right away and just had to share.
  18. Anyone know if they are still in business? Not answering his phone this morning.
  19. I decided to give Charlie a call on the Land line today to see how he was doing. Turns out not all that great. He is on a lot of meds and has sold his bikes cause I guess his ailment does not allow him to ride very well. But he is still able to go fishing and we had a few chuckles over the phone. He also said to say Hi to everyone.
  20. For those looking for an interesting weekend " ride " and a little fishing !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=-RaFApVP0zU&vq=large I think this fishing resort, is somplace in the southern states, but not sure. I don't have the phone number for reservations, but sombody down around Alabama might have the number ( possibly Georgia )
  21. Many thanks to Earl (Skydoc_17) for the inspiration. I had the mirror stem and just bought the cell phone mount. I like how the phone enters car mode when inserted in to the dock for simple operation. I didn't even know that this mode existed. Ill probably clean it up a little more and shoot the back side with a little black paint.
  22. Last week I decided to save gas money and start riding my Virago to work. We live on a mile of gravel, which I have driven for 13 years. I have to head east to get to the closest black top and the sun was directly in my eyes....met the school bus so I moved over to the right and caught a deep rut in the road. The bike shot out from underneath me and I flew off rolling towards the opposite side of the road. Knocked the wind out of me and my back was killing me. It was the first time in 8 yrs I had not put my cell phone on my waist bag and of course it was in my purse in the saddle bag. Wouldn't you know by the time I crawled back to my bike, I could see it was on the side that went down. Long story short, I had to limp back home about 3/4 of a mile to get to our land line to call the hubby. Had all my leathers on and helmet. Everything is scratched up...and I feel lucky. I was sure I had broken all my ribs on the left side but doc says bad bruising, no broken bones. Hurt like He## all weekend and am slowly healing. I feel very lucky! I have always carried that phone on me for this very reason, and the one day I put it in my bag, I needed it. Live and learn...
  23. I haven't specifically found this information on here yet so I figure I would share it to make it easier for anyone looking to use a Garmin GPS & pair it with a bluetooth headset. According to Garmin, the only Garmin Devices that support pairing with a Bluetooth headset are the nuvi 765, 775 , 785, StreetPilot 2820, zumo 220*, 550, 660 and 665. When a headset is paired with these devices the listener will be able to hear phone calls, navigation prompts, or MP3 music (if the device has a MP3/Media Player). All other Garmin Bluetooth-enabled devices are only capable of pairing with a Bluetooth cell phone. The exception is the zumo 220. It will only pair to a Bluetooth headset or helmet and does not have the ability to pair to a Bluetooth-enabled phone.
  24. ESPECIALLY LOOK AT SCENE THREE... Be sure to read Scene 3. Quite interesting. This is a new one. People sure stay busy trying to cheat us, don't they? SCENE 1. A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker. After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open, and thought to himself, 'Funny, I thought I locked the locker... Hmm, 'He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make sure all was in order. Everything looked okay - all cards were in place... A few weeks later his credit card bill came - a whooping bill of $14,000! He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions. Customer care personnel verified that there was no mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen... 'No,' he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep - you guessed it - a switch had been made. An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet. The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards. Verdict:The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them. How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy? $9,000! Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped? Small amounts rarely trigger a 'warning bell' with some credit card companies. It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to big one! SCENE 2. A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along. Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another person. He called the waitress and she looked perplexed. She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man. All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card. No exchange of words --- nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.. Verdict: Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time. Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it, 'assuming' that it has to be theirs. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION! ========================== SCENE 3: Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that I had called in. I paid by using my Visa Check Card which, of course, is linked directly to my checking Account. The young man behind the counter took my card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as he waited for the approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing. I noticed the phone because it is the same model I have, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I heard a click that sounded like my phone sounds when I take a picture. He then gave me back my card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing buttons. Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on. It then dawned on me: the only thing there was my credit card, so now I'm paying close attention to what he is doing.. He set his phone on the counter, leaving it open. About five seconds later, I heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved. Now I'm standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit card. Yes, he played it off well, because had we not had the same kind of phone, I probably would never have known what happened. Needless to say, I immediately cancelled that card as I was walking out of the pizza parlor. All I am saying is, be aware of your surroundings at all times. Whenever you are using your credit card take caution and don't be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card. Be aware of phones, because many have a camera phone these days. FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN THINK OF. LET'S GET THE WORD OUT. JUST BE AWARE! Never let your card out of your sight.....check and check again!
  25. Hilarious! Growing up without a cell phone If you are 35, or older, you might think this is hilarious! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways...yadda, yadda, yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it! 1) I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! 2) There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents! 3) Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe! 4) There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself! 5) Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig? 6) We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it! 7) There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are. 8) And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! 9) We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen.. Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! 10) You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?! 11) There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! 12) And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that! 13) And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores! And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place! See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1970 or any time before! Regards, The Over 40 Crowd (Send this to someone you'd like to make smile
