  1. Just saw that Web Bike World had picked this as one of their products of the year. I've never even heard of it but I know there was a recent discussion here about the best action cameras. At a list price of $399.00, it had better be very good. Sena Prism Review - webBikeWorld
  2. Is anyone familliar with any of the CRC fuel conditioner products? I came across this product http://crcindustries.com/auto/?s=06141 and this one http://crcindustries.com/auto/?s=05068 at the local Canadian tire store. With all the talk about ethanol spiked fuels lately, I went on the CRC site and found the following bullitin. http://www.crcindustries.com/files/Ethanol%20Fuel%20Stabilizers%20PR.pdf Has anyone used these products? How would you compare them with seafoam? Here is a link to a comparison of three of their own products as well http://crcindustries.com/auto/marine-products I also attached a PDF data sheet.
  3. Just a heads up for anyone who might be interested in buying saddlebag liners. I ordered and paid for full set from TLC Products in June..They have gone bust..no reply to emails ..phone disconnected....paypal cant contact them...Im out $90...DO NOT BUY
  4. So I'm strongly considering ordering one of these from RideBikegear.com anyone here have experience with their products?? Looks like a good deal to me! http://www.ridebikegear.com/tp-extra-large-motorcycle-trunk-tour-pak-with-wrap-around-backrest-and-large-top-rack-p-196.html
  5. I’ve been meaning to share something I learned with those who might be interested. I highly recommend that everyone read Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David L. Hough. This is the riding bible and should be read and reread at least every other year. I know most of us have been ridding most of our lives and feel confident we could handle most anything that might come up and hope we never have to prove it. I know that is how I felt. I have to say that there is always more to learn and things to be reminded of regularly. I fully believe it is possible to ride a life time without incident but it takes vigilance in keeping your head in the ride. Reading material like this will help to keep your thoughts directed while riding. Riders have very little in common with cagers beyond the fact we share the same ribbon of pavement. Cagers and cage manufacturers are all about crash survival. Riders much like airline pilots are all about crash avoidance. This line of thinking brought me to another thing we have in common with the aeronautical industry, inhibiting corrosion. The aeronautical industry spends an extreme amount of time and money to protect the structural integrity of an aircraft especially as it is affected by corrosion. I found a company that specializes in corrosion protection specifically for the aeronautical industry. I have been using these products for years on all my motorcycles and I have no rust not even on the bolts of any of my bikes. I apply it once a year and it protects better than anything I’ve ever used. It can be used on most any material from Lexan and paint to chrome and bare metal. The product is RejeX. I buy it from Great Lakes Corrosion / CorrosionX. I recently went out to buy more RejeX and found they have expanded their line of products to include spray on types and other cleaning products they are advertising for use on motorcycles. I guess they heard those of us who have been using it on our bikes. I cannot speak to the effectiveness of all the new products they now manufacture but I can tell you the RejeX works for a fact. Just thought I’d share from my experience since you all have helped me so much sharing from yours.
  6. Due to requests I have now added trailer hitches to my list of products I offer for members here. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3919&title=rsv26amp-3b-rstd-trailer-hitch&cat=24 Thanks in advance, Larry
  7. Canadians & Americans Hey, we can make a difference if we try. How is it possible to ship food from China cheaper -- than having it produced in Canada or at least the U.S.? FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN FROM CHINA .. SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE IS FROM CAL .. ALL "HIGH LINER" AND MOST OTHER FROZEN FISH PRODUCTS COME FROM CHINA OR INDONESIA . THE PACKAGE MAY SAY "PACIFIC SALMON" ON THE FRONT, BUT LOOK FOR THE SMALL PRINT. MOST OF THESE PRODUCTS COME FROM FISH FARMS IN THE ORIENT AND THERE ARE NO REGULATIONS ON WHAT IS FED TO THESE FISH. ALSO WATCH FOR PICKLES. A LOT OF THE NO-NAME PICKLES COME FROM INDIA . BICK'S HAVE RECENTLY CEASED OPERATIONS IN CANADA -- DON'T BUY THEM . Another example was in canned mushrooms. No-Name brand came from Indonesia. Next to them were President Choice brand. Produce of Canada!! The P. C. went into my grocery bag. Also check those little fruit cups we give our children. They use to be made here in Canada in the Niagara region until about 2 years ago.....They are now packaged in China !!!! While the Chinese, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in Canadian markets, the media wrings its hands and criticizes the Harper Government for perceived errors. Yet 70% of North Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended!! Well, duh. Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF CANADA!! Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some Canadian farmer. Easter is just an example; the point is not waiting for the government to act.. Just go ahead and assume control on your own. Canadian Thermos bottles were made here for many years.. Thermos sold out in the 1990's and now the bottles, those that keep our food warm or cold are now made in CHINA .. We lost---about 200 jobs! THINK ABOUT THIS, If 200 million North Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favour...fast!! The downside? Some Canadian businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Just one month of trading losses, will hit the Chinese for 8%, of their North American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it. START NOW and don’t stop. Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are intelligent Canadians, and NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET! Pass it on, North America !! I DID!!
  8. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_id=42&Category_ID=14&manufacturer_ID=557&product_ID=29500&sblid_name=Ohlins_Rear_Shocks__S__DR_LS____Royal_Star_____and_current__for_Yamaha_1300_Royal_Star_Venture_ Hi Guys, was looking at the Cruiser Customizing site today, and if it's accurate, it appears we have another alternative from Ohlin, including one with a remote preload adjuster. Their products are generally found on high end bikes with a real reputation for quality, so if it's true, this is great news. Ron
  9. Well, I bit the bullet today and called Works Performance Products. I guess I will find out if it is worth the money or not...
  10. a freind of mine said he was going to give me some "PIG SNOT" polish has anybody ever heard of or used any of there products. just wanting to know if it is all right to use on the bike.here is a web addy i found http://shop.pigsnot.com/ thanks:confused24:
  11. OK folks, it has come to my attention that the area that I created in the classifieds for our member vendors may not have been a good idea. I created that area to make it easy to find our members who also offer us some pretty nice products at good prices. I am now hearing though that it is making their products harder to find. For example, if you didn't KNOW that Rick Butler offers seat mods for motorcycles, it would be hard to find it. You would have to open Member Vendors and then click on Rick Butler to even find out what he offers our members. So, should I get rid of that area and just move the ads back to their respective categories?
  12. OK, the 29 Year old, Honda CX -500 sitting in my garage, started leaking fuel from the tank last night. Seeping fuel at the lower edge of the tank. Anyway, don't want to put a lot of money into this thing, for a new tank. I see on the web, there a re several products on the market for makeing fuel tank repairs. Anybody here have any experience with any of the fuel tank leak repair products ?? IF so I'm all " Ears " as they say. Any reccomendations, or horror stories ?? Thanks for any tips
  13. Webbike World has posted their annual products of the year page. Nothing that really excites me but maybe of interest to some. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycles/best-motorcycle-products-2010.htm
  14. Seeking your opinions. I've been thinking about adding a new category to our classifieds area. I don't know yet what it will be called but it will be for our established members who offer products and/or services to our members. I'm talking about people like Carbon_one, Skydoc, Rick Butler, MiCarl, etc. It will NOT be for any new person who just joins up for the purpose of peddling goods here. Posting to the new area would be with pre-approval only. It will require that a person has been an active member here for some amount of time and has proven themselves to be a true VentureRider member. The reason for this would be to make it easier for all of you to find these products and services as they often get stuck back several pages in the classifieds and are hard to find quickly. So....do you think that this would be helpful?
  15. Please read this; our duty to react is in our hands!..Sharon K When the Canadian dollar was low in value, foreign companies bought up most of the businesses in Canada at garage sale prices. Foreign owners have closed down the canning factories in Exeter (north of London, ON) and in the Niagara area. As a result the local farmers have no place to sell their produce or have it preserved. In the soft fruit producing area of Niagara, farmers have ripped out their peach trees because other than road side stands who will buy their fruit? The big companies have already decided and publicly announced that it is cheaper to buy canned peaches from Greece, so that is what you will see in stores. The farm land is being sold to developers and turned into big house and condo developments. The canning factory in Exeter was eventually taken over by a co-op of former employees and they will try to make a go of it but it sounds kind of shaky. The politicians stood by and did nothing. Garlic is no longer produced in Canada because it comes from China at a price cheaper than the cost of production in Canada. That's all you see in stores and there is no Canadian produced garlic to choose from even at a higher price. Maybe the high taxes in Canada have something to do with it. A small but determined radical group trying to unionize farm labour didn't help matters either. Sure all these trade agreements bring us low cost material goods, but if everyone is out of a job who is going to buy these products? Good luck trying to find 100% Canadian products in stores. The only way to find such a thing is to deal directly with the farmer and leave out the retailer. "FOOD" for thought. More information on this subject..... I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT THE COUNTRY MARKET. ON> THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA '. FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN FROM CHINA I WAS SHOCKED!! SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE IS FROM CAL . Another example was in canned mushrooms. No-Name brand came From Indonesia . Next to them were President Choice brand. Produce of Canada !! The P. C. Went into my grocery bag. TAKES FOREVER JUST TO BUY FOOD AND DO LABEL READING !! Are we Canadians and Americans as dumb as we appear --- Or --- is it that we just do not think? While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in North American markets, the media wrings its hands and criticizes the Bush Administration (now Obama Administration) (and the Harper Government!) for perceived errors. Yet 70% of North Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Well, duh... why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, CANADA/AMERICA!! Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ) simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? Some Canadian/American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! The solution? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on June 4, and continue it until July 4. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their North American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it... "Remember: June 4 to July 4 " EVEN BETTER. . . START NOW! Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are intelligent Canadians and Americans, And NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET! Pass it on, North America !
  16. 10471.1 Found this on another site. Yamaha Motor cuts jobs, closes plants Japanese motorcycle maker Yamaha Motor announced Friday plans to close seven factories globally with the loss of 1,000 jobs, in an effort to bounce back from a 2.4-billion-dollar annual loss. Yamaha, the world's second biggest motorcycle manufacturer after Honda, said it would cut 200 jobs overseas, on top of the 800 in Japan announced last week. The streamlining is also in addition to a 10-percent reduction in the company's global workforce of 17,000 already underway, a Yamaha spokesman said. The group will shut five of its 12 domestic factories by 2012, all in Shizuoka prefecture, central Japan, now producing parts for motorcycles, marine products and buggies. Overseas, Yamaha will close a motorcycling factory in Italy and a marine products plant in the US state of Florida. "The company is expanding the scope of three structural reforms -- reorganising the manufacturing layout, the workforce and reducing costs -- beyond the level envisioned in the previous announcement," Yamaha said. Yamaha said it suffered a net loss of 216.1 billion yen (2.4 billion dollars) for the year to December, against a year-earlier profit of 1.8 billion yen. Revenue dropped 28.1 percent to 1.15 trillion yen in 2009 as the economic slump dented sales of motorcycles and marine products both at home and overseas, Yamaha said. For 2010, the company expects to break even on a net basis with solid demand in Asia projected to lift revenue by 8.4 percent to 1.25 trillion yen. But "demand in Europe and the United States is not expected to recover for some time," it said. "Thus, sales conditions surrounding the Yamaha Motor Group are expected to remain harsh," it said.
  17. Harley-Davidson company today announced that it has purchased Yamaha's motorcycle division. Harley-Davidson company, a brand name for 107 years, would be at the top of any list of immediately identifiable corporate logos recognized worldwide," said Matthew S. Levatich, president of Harley-Davidson. "We are proud to bring this storied company to American ownership. We intend to maximize the value of the name and to fully utilize the manufacturing, marketing and worldwide distribution assets of the company to create appreciation and value for our shareholders. We also plan to increase the company's revenues through expanded branding activities and strategic acquisitions that will compliment the company's current product lines. As part of the synergy between our two companies, we plan to incorporate Yamaha products into the lines manufactured by H-D. The stock purchase agreement between Harley-Davidson and Yamaha encompasses all assets including patents, trademarks, intellectual property, distribution rights, machine drawings, inventory, equipment and physical assets of Yamaha, including its corporate headquarters in Newnan, Georgia. Under the agreement, Harley-Davidson will pay $15 billion in cash, with $5 billion paid upon closing and the balance due in May 2012. As of the close, Yamaha's total assets were approximately $17 billion, which includes two manufacturing facilities. The main facility is a 660,000 square foot plant on 160 acres located in Newnan. The other facility is a 36,000 square foot plant in Kennesaw, GA. Total liabilities are approximately $53 million, which includes a 10-year note payable to Yamaha for $15 billion due in May 2012. 21. Hello, is anyone using a Wal-Mart Super Tech brand oil filter? Also how about Valvoline 20W50 motorcycle oil? This is the only local option I have for these kinds of products and I sure don't want to cause problems for my 2006 RSTD. Thanks for your help!

  24. Folks I just want to take this time to praise those who deserve it. I recently (read last Monday) decided to buy a backrest for my '08. I looked at both the Utopia and the Diamond R, I went with the Diamond R and I am so happy that I did. I know you folks hear of us praising certain vendors that offer us great products or service. Let me tell you that Diamond R does both. I ordered online and then later that morning talked with Patty on the phone. She was very pleasant to chat with and had told me that she had already packaged up my backrest and was going to ship it the same day I ordered it! I recieved it from Texas to Michigan by Thursday 3 days...it don't get much better than that folks. Lonna and I went to Bummers M&E south of Indy this weekend and I can tell you that my back was a much happier part of me. If you are looking for a backrest, please check out what Allan & Patty have to offer. Their products are top quality and the customer service is stellar....I highly recommend them to all of our members
