  1. I just purchased a fairing for my 05 RSTD it has two 6x9 cutouts my question is I found some really nice stuff car audio quality and I looked into Marine grade stuff but it seems to me it cost more for less audio quality based on tech charts I'm paying more for water proof ? Does that make sense ? so my Real question should be is it worth it to get marine grade products if my bike is garage kept and not a Daily rider only time it gets wet is if I wash it or rain comes in on road trip I didn't plan for (rare)
  2. It's been awhile since I've been here. I live in a very humid area ( Tx. gulf coast ). The kick stand is hard to opperate ( it doesn't move as freely as it did when it was new ). For comparrison I went to the dealer yesterday and played with a new Venture that they have on theire floor. I did the most logical thing and lubed it with marine grease but it is still hard to opperate. Has any one else had this problem and if so were you able to fix it by just greasing it or is it something else I'm missing?
  3. I just got this from my friend Randy, the Marine I've known and grown up with since we were kids. Drat... didn't work.
  4. Has any one swapped out their OEM radio/cassette for a newer and up to date waterproof marine radio? I can imagine there would be no easy way to make it work with the headsets, but still, I think it would be very nice and the Jensen's are relatively inexpensive.
  5. Just wanting to hear from those of you who have replaced your OEM Clarion speakers with NON-Marine rated ones(Polk 4" speakers are Marine rated) I was considering Clarion 4" 2 way coaxials. They are only 22.00 a set on Amazon.com They are made of much better materials than the OEM ones. I like my music loud.....and I will just blow the OEM ones....plus I like the clarity of the tweeters in the Coaxial design. Thank You!
  6. Semper Fi U.S.M.C. . I received this article from a brother Marine, It says all of what I believe and carry with me everyday of my life. All I know is that my transformation process to this state of "arrogance" started in September 1972 when I arrived at MCRD San Diego, Ca and by Jan 73 all traces of the "unorganized grab-ass tic" slothful being that disembarked from the bus had vanished from the face of the earth and a proud indestructible new being with a vibrant 197 year-old Heart, took form. That Heart still beats proudly some 39 years later as I recall the names, faces, places and events that ensued while proudly wearing Marine Green and knowing that I was a link in an unbreakable chain that was forged on 10 November 1775 but would be without termination. The blood of every Marine that ever was and ever will be, flows through my veins and mine in theirs. I have tried to "lovingly" explain it to non-Marines but as the axiom says, "To a Marine no explanation is necessary to one who is not, no explanation is possible!" Semper Fidelis - God, Country & Corps http://mail.aol.com/33953-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=28586788&folder=Inbox&partId=4 Marine Arrogance The below was taken from the latest edition of Sgt. Grit . An excellent response: I wrote this in response to an Army guy on Facebook who posted a comment on our Marine Corps site that he was sick and tired of Marine "arrogance". As it would to any Marine, it pissed me off some and I posted this. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to repost it wherever you would like. Thank you and Semper Fi! Marc Ciacchi. Someone asked me what makes Marines special. I thought about that for awhile. I think that what makes Marines special, if only in our own minds, is that elusive Quality of Espirit D'Corps. It's the fact that we, as individual Marines, don't feel that we are individual Marines. When we wear our uniform, when we hear our Hymn, when we go into battle, we are going with every other Marine who ever wore the uniform. Standing behind us are the Marines who fought during the birth Of our nation. We're standing with the Marines who fought in WWI and gave birth To the legend of the "Teufel Hun den", or "Devil Dogs". We are standing with the Marines who took Iwo and Tarawa and countless other blood soaked islands throughout the Pacific. We are standing with the "Frozen Chosin" and our Beloved Chesty Puller. We are standing with the Marines who battled at Hue City And Khe Sanh and the muddy rice paddies of South East Asia . We are standing With the Marines who fought in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom and now, are fighting in Afghanistan . Like real brothers, their blood courses through our veins, and when we go into battle, we would rather lay down our lives than be a disappointment to them. We carry on our backs, their legacy, their deaths and their honor. We Carry that for the rest of our lives. The Marine Corps uniform doesn't come off when our active duty is over. We wear it daily in our attitude, and our love of Corps and country. We wear it on our tattoos and our bumper stickers. We wear it in our hearts. It's why, no matter where we are in the world, on November 10th, every Marine celebrates the Marine Corps birthday. It's why we'll never be an army of 1. It's why we never stop being Marines. It's why, for most of us, being a Marine Isn't something we were. It's something we are. It's the most important part of Who and what we are. Some say we're arrogant. We say we're proud. We have a right to be proud. We are United States Marines. The most feared and ferocious Group of warriors to walk the face of this earth. When Americas ' enemies formulate their battle plans, they plan on going around Marine units, because they know D-mn well that they can't go through them. We are what the other branches wish they were. We are the modern day Spartans. This isn't bragging. It's written In the battle history of our country. When there's a parade and the Marines march by, everyone pays a little more attention. Some say "arrogance". We call it "pride"

  8. Bear just hit right in front of my house. Marine returning to base hit him with his car. Marine is OK and car was towed off to get front repaired. Bear was approx 175 lbs. and was still alive when the Marine pounded on my front door. Immediately called the State Troopers and State Wildlife. Both departments gave me to green light to dispatch the bear if it posed a threat to anyone or tried to get out into traffic. Bear died within 15 minutes dues to major lacerations at his hip. Must leave bear in the front yard until DOT comes to pick him up tomorrow. Here is a link to the Photo Bucket album if anyone wants to view. Did not post pictures here due to the nature of the wounds to the bear. Veiw at your own risk! HERE BEER30
  9. I haven't seen this one mentioned on here before. It called PRI-G Fuel Treatment. From what I read it's used mostly for marine engines. Sounds really good and it should be for costing about $1 oz. (But you treat at 1:2000.) Here a link to a marine dealer for more info if anyone is interested.
  10. A Harley biker is riding by the zoo when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.' The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.' The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?' The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves. The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page: U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days ... 11. These next few posts were sent to me by one of my oldest friends, a 20 yr. Marine. Marine Rules 1.Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one. 2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough. 3. Have a plan. 4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work. 5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet. 6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a '4.' 7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life isexpensive. 8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.) 9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. 10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours. 11. Alwayscheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one in which you lose. 12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived. 13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating your intention to shoot.
  12. About time we start taking our lives back! The politicions sure don"t care!!!!! P.s.my feelings only!!! Subject: Marine Stabbed at Best Buy by suspected shoplifter! November 27, 2010 Associated Press AUGUSTA, Ga. - A U.S. Marine reservist collecting toys for children was stabbed when he helped stop a suspected shoplifter in eastern Georgia. Best Buy sales manager Orvin Smith told The Augusta Chronicle that man was seen on surveillance cameras Friday putting a laptop under his jacket at the Augusta store. When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, pulled a knife and ran toward the door. Outside were four Marines collecting toys for the service branch's "Toys For Tots" program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back. The cut did not appear to be severe. The suspect was transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken leg, possible broken ribs, assorted lacerations and bruises he obtained when he fell, trying to run after stabbing the Marine. The suspect, whose name was not released, was held until police arrived. The Richmond County Sheriff's office said it is investigating. > > > Rick Smythe Chaplain > Marine Corps League > St Charles County Detachment 725 > > Semper Fi

  14. If you've never been to this museum it's quite a place. It's in Northern VA and is in my area. Some low life must be looking to get their ass kicked for doing this. http://www2.insidenova.com/news/2010/oct/18/bullets-shatter-glass-marine-corps-museum-ar-570891/ By Julia LeDoux Published: October 18, 2010 TRIANGLE, Va. -- Vandals fired shots at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle early Sunday morning, causing approximately $20,000 worth of damage to the building’s glass roof and a steel wall at the base of the structure. Museum spokeswoman Gwenn Adams said the building was unoccupied at the time. The museum remains open to the public during the ongoing police investigation. “No artifacts were damaged,” she said. Approximately five holes could be seen in the glass roof, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Police did not know Monday what type of gun was used or where the bullets were fired from. The side of the building damaged faces Interstate 95. “The important thing for us is our visitors will not be impacted,” Adams said. “It does not take away from the overall experience of the museum.“ Marine Corps Base Quantico military police, Criminal Investigative Division, is assisting in the investigation. “The authorities are handling the investigation and we have full confidence that they will find the responsible party or parties,” said Adams. Adams noted that the museum has on-site security staff and is also equipped with security cameras that cover the interior and exterior of the property. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. You don’t have to give your name, just the information and you could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward. Military editor Julia LeDoux can be reached at 703-369-5718.
  15. Lets all be careful out there even at stop lights. Watch those mirrors while you wait. ROSENBERG, Texas -- A Marine survived two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan only to lose his life in a crash at home. You always hope you wake up and it's a dream, but the reality is he's not gonna be back," father Dwanye Stidman said. Cpl. David Stidman, 23, returned home to Rosenberg about four months ago. Instead of spending quality time together, fishing and working at the family's manufacturing business, Dwayne Stidman is making arrangements for his only son's funeral. "It was very heart-wrenching when I got his belongings back," Stidman said. Police said the Marine was at the intersection of F.M. 762 and Brazos Center Boulevard at about 12:45 a.m. Monday when his motorcycle was rammed from behind by a pickup truck. Authorities said the driver, Sean McGuire, 33, was arrested shortly after the wreck and accused of driving under the influence. "Of course, you're angry and you have all of the emotions from guilt of why did I live and he had to die?" Dwayne Stidman said. This father's guilt comes after his son returned to help him recuperate after he, too, was hit by an alleged drunken driver and badly injured while riding his motorcycle. "He was willing to stop his life … to come back and help me out," Dwayne Stidman said. The father wants to repay the favor by pushing for tighter penalties for those who chose to drive drunk and drive. "Its just something ... we need to make sure it does not happen to someone else," he said. He said it's especially important because for the rest of his life he'll have to go on without his son, his best friend and proudest joy. "I lost my son and I will miss him beyond words," he said. "I hope to see him when I get there, too."
  16. For the past 4 days I have been caught in RAIN and My footing kept on slipping My remedy was purchasing Marine Anti-Slip Grip Tape It works great and Looks pretty cool, on the scoot
  17. Plantation, Florida: Last week police were called to investigate an attempted armed robbery: The 71-year-old retired Marine who opened fire on two robbers at a Plantation, Florida, Subway shop late Wednesday, killing one and critically wounding the other, is described as John Lovell, a former helicopter pilot for two presidents. He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, and he works out every day. Mr. Lovell was a man of action Wednesday night. According to Plantation police, two masked gunmen came into the Subway at 1949 N. Pine Rd. just after 11 p.m. There was a lone diner, Mr. Lovell, who was finishing his meal. After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove Mr. Lovell into a bathroom and rob him as well. They got his money, but then Mr. Lovell pulled his handgun and opened fire. He shot one of the thieves in the head and chest and the other in the head. When police arrived, they found one of the men in the shop, K-9 Units found the other in the bushes of a nearby business. They also found cash strewn around the front of the sandwich shop according to Detective Robert Rettig of the Plantation Police Department.. Both men were taken to the Broward General Medical Center , where one, Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale died. The other, 21-year-old Frederick Gadson of Fort Lauderdale is in critical but stable condition. A longtime friend of Lovell was not surprised to hear what happened. The friend said, ''He'd give you the shirt off his back, but he'd be mad as hell if someone tried to take the shirt off his back.'' Mr. Lovell was a pilot in the Marine Corps, flying former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He later worked as a pilot for Pan Am and Delta Airlines. He is not expected to be charged authorities said. ''He was in fear for his life,'' Detective Rettig said, "These criminals ought to realize that most men in their 70's have military backgrounds and aren't intimidated by idiots." Something tells me this old Marine wasn't 'in fear for his life', even though his life was definitely at risk. The only thing he could be charged with is participating in an unfair fight. One 71- year young Marine against two punks. Two head shots and one center body mass shot... Outstanding shooting! That'll teach them not to get between a Marine and his meal. Florida law allows eligible citizens to carry a concealed weapon. Don't you just love a story with a happy ending?
  18. 10471.1 Found this on another site. Yamaha Motor cuts jobs, closes plants Japanese motorcycle maker Yamaha Motor announced Friday plans to close seven factories globally with the loss of 1,000 jobs, in an effort to bounce back from a 2.4-billion-dollar annual loss. Yamaha, the world's second biggest motorcycle manufacturer after Honda, said it would cut 200 jobs overseas, on top of the 800 in Japan announced last week. The streamlining is also in addition to a 10-percent reduction in the company's global workforce of 17,000 already underway, a Yamaha spokesman said. The group will shut five of its 12 domestic factories by 2012, all in Shizuoka prefecture, central Japan, now producing parts for motorcycles, marine products and buggies. Overseas, Yamaha will close a motorcycling factory in Italy and a marine products plant in the US state of Florida. "The company is expanding the scope of three structural reforms -- reorganising the manufacturing layout, the workforce and reducing costs -- beyond the level envisioned in the previous announcement," Yamaha said. Yamaha said it suffered a net loss of 216.1 billion yen (2.4 billion dollars) for the year to December, against a year-earlier profit of 1.8 billion yen. Revenue dropped 28.1 percent to 1.15 trillion yen in 2009 as the economic slump dented sales of motorcycles and marine products both at home and overseas, Yamaha said. For 2010, the company expects to break even on a net basis with solid demand in Asia projected to lift revenue by 8.4 percent to 1.25 trillion yen. But "demand in Europe and the United States is not expected to recover for some time," it said. "Thus, sales conditions surrounding the Yamaha Motor Group are expected to remain harsh," it said.
  19. My Son is having his Graduation from the Marines in San Diego Ca. end of this Month. We will be driving out there To see him Graduate, then bring him home before he ships out. The Marine Base is next door to the San Diego Int'l Airport off of I-5. We would like to know if anyone knows a good Motel or Hotel close by? One that is not in a bad area? We will be there for about 3-4 days. Looking forward to seeing my young Marine. He called tonight for the first time since he's been out there, sure was nice hearing from him. Looking forward to that bear hug. Thanks
  20. Don't want to start anything but if any Ohio members are able to help a family grieve in piece my friend a Marine sent me this Family of Fallen Marine Hero Needs Your Help!!!Share Yesterday at 11:15am Please read the note that I received below and help if you can! This Marine faught and died for people like the ones described below to have the right to protest. This being said, I feel we have a duty to shield the family from these types of people. Please read the note below and join me either on the procession path or in the Human Wall! Here is the note that I received: "Last week, October 20, a 22 year old Marine from Painesville Township was killed in Afghanistan. He is coming home today. Saturday is going to be his funeral at Zion Lutheran Church on Mentor Ave in Painesville (across from Lake Erie College) at 11 am. The funeral procession on Saturday will leave Monreal Funeral Home on Curtis Blvd in Eastlake, travel to route 90, go to Vrooman Road and go North on Vrooman Rd. The procession will go left on 84 to drive past Riverside High School where Lance Cpl David Baker went to school. They will continue past the school going west on East Walnut (84) and continue through to Mentor Avenue. They will then turn East on Mentor Ave (Left) to go to the church. The funeral procession is expcted to leave the funeral home between 9:45 and 10am Saturday morning and to arrive at the church Saturday by 11am. Here is the part that really just frosts me. I dont know how many people are familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS. They have been in the news several times. This "church" has decided to travel to the funeral to protest outside the church during services. They say they protest these funerals because "soldiers are dying for the homosexual and other sins of America. God is now America's enemy and God Himself is fighting against America". That is a direct quote from their "preacher"-a man named Westboro. He is known for preaching messages about homophobia and anti-Semitism. This family is going to the church to grieve for their son - a son who died far away in another country doing what he felt he had to do. Whether you believe in the war or not, he died and his family is grieving. The last thing in the world they need to see as they step out of the limosine at the church is a group of radicals shouting at them and protesting their son and his death. I am of the opinion that, if enough people gather at the church PEACEFULLY, we can form a human wall between the family and this group. They wont have to see them, they wont have to hear them, they wont even need to acknowledge them. They can go in to the church to grieve and bury their son - which should be their only priority that day." I will be there. Will you join me? Buddy (Sgt Raddatz, USMC)
  21. I've read on several occasions where someone mentioned a Yamaha marine supplier who generally had good prices on motorcycle parts....I've used the search tab but didn't see anything useful - anyone remember the name of that supplier or their web address.....thanks.
  22. My son got his ship date. It's off to Afghanistan. Marine Infantry Div. He sure is fired up. Hard for me and mom to feel the same enthusiasm. These guy's are awesome. Please pray for their safe return. Thanks
  23. I bought this kit that had a quart of Penzoil marine gear lube 80W-90 GL5 mainly because I wanted the pump that came with it. The whole kit was $5. Is there any difference between marine gear lube and regular gear lube? What I currently use in the rear end of the bike is regular 80W-90 GL5, so my thought is I should be able to use this stuff meant for marine use. Same weight and they both have the GL5 rating... Anyone with any knowledge on this?
  24. We do not hear any of this sort of news anymore, I wonder what kind of free press we still have? Pray for our Republic and its defenders! Outnumbered 8-1: 'A good day for the Corps' By Peter Bronson "Our vehicles came under a barrage of enemy RPGs (rocket propelled grenades) and machine gun fire. One of our humvees was disabled from RPG fire, and the Marines inside dismounted and laid down suppression fire so they could evacuate a Marine who was knocked unconscious from the blast." That's not from an episode of The Unit or 24. It's not from an anti-war movie. It's not from any newspaper or TV news reports I could find. The quote comes from a "designated marksman who requested to remain unidentified." He was reporting what happened recently in the city of Shewan, Afghanistan. The story was told in a Marine Corps News report by Cpl. James M. Mercure. It will give you goose bumps and make you want to stand up and salute the nearest flag. Here's more, because it's a lot better than anything I could write today: "The day started out with a 10-kilometer patrol with elements mounted and dismounted, so by the time we got to Shewan, we were pretty beat," the marksman said. Mercure reported, "Shewan had been a thorn in the side of Task Force 2d Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Afghanistan throughout the Marines' deployment here in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, because it controls an important supply route into the Bala Baluk district. Opening the route was key to continuing combat operations in the area." "The vicious attack that left the humvee destroyed and several of the Marines pinned down in the kill zone sparked an intense eight-hour battle as the platoon desperately fought to recover their comrades. After recovering the Marines trapped in the kill zone, another platoon sergeant personally led numerous attacks on enemy fortified positions while the platoon fought house to house and trench to trench in order to clear through the enemy ambush site. '"The biggest thing to take from that day is what Marines can accomplish when they're given the opportunity to fight,'" the sniper said. '"A small group of Marines met a numerically superior force and embarrassed them in their own backyard. The insurgents told the townspeople that they were stronger than the Americans, and that day we showed them they were wrong."' "During the battle, the designated marksman single handedly thwarted a company-sized enemy RPG and machinegun ambush by reportedly killing 20 enemy fighters with his devastatingly accurate precision fire. He selflessly exposed himself time and again to intense enemy fire during a critical point in the eight-hour battle for Shewan in order to kill any enemy combatants who attempted to engage or maneuver on the Marines in the kill zone. What made his actions even more impressive was the fact that he didn't miss any shots, despite the enemies' rounds impacting within a foot of his fighting position." '"I was in my own little world,"' the young corporal said. '"I wasn't even aware of a lot of the rounds impacting near my position, because I was concentrating so hard on making sure my rounds were on target."' "After calling for close-air support, the small group of Marines pushed forward and broke the enemies' spirit as many of them dropped their weapons and fled the battlefield. At the end of the battle, the Marines had reduced an enemy stronghold, killed more than 50 insurgents and wounded several more. '"I didn't realize how many bad guys there were until we had broken through the enemies' lines and forced them to retreat. It was roughly 250 insurgents against 30 of us,"' the corporal said. '"It was a good day for the Marine Corps. We killed a lot of bad guys, and none of our guys were seriously injured."' Such an amazing story of heroism and victory would have been on Page One in every paper in the country during World War II. Just 30 Marines giving eight hours of hell to 250 insurgents is the kind of story that would make a good movie - if that kind of movie still could be made. But these days, it did not even make Page 10. I couldn't find a story about it anywhere. The only mentions were on conservative blogs and military Web sites. The soldiers who are fighting for their lives and our country might as well be in another dimension. News from the battlefronts in Iraq and Afghanistan is apparently not important. It reminds the jaded anti-war crowd that they were wrong. We're winning. It reminds a self-centered nation that some Americans are making sacrifices much bigger than a loss in their 401(k)s. So we don't hear about it.
  25. I talked to my Son tonight, He's heading out to boot camp:pushups: in San Diego Ca. on May 4. I'm so proud of him yet I'm scared as well - being a Father. He said he wanted to go in the Marines. So I gave him my full support:happy34:. He was kinda shock that I backed him on his decision. Told him I wanted to go in when I was 18 but my football days ruin that idea - knees. So now my Son is going to serve our Country. Sorry this is not about motorcycles, Just wanted to tell everyone how proud I am of my Son...... Buddy Father of a U.S. Marine
