Can you believe a motorcycle killed this HUGE GRIZZLY? This grizzly was hit by a Harley on Lolo Pass. This is the pass between Lolo , MT and Kooskia, ID. Lolo Pass , elevation 5,233 feet (1,595 m), is a mountain pass in the northern Rocky Mountains on the border between the U.S. states of Montana and Idaho approximately 25 miles (40 km) west-southwest of Missoula , Montana . It is famous as the location where the Lewis and Clark Expedition crossed the summit of the Bitteroot Range via the Lolo Trail on their outward and return journeys in 1805/06. 6. Bear just hit right in front of my house. Marine returning to base hit him with his car. Marine is OK and car was towed off to get front repaired. Bear was approx 175 lbs. and was still alive when the Marine pounded on my front door. Immediately called the State Troopers and State Wildlife. Both departments gave me to green light to dispatch the bear if it posed a threat to anyone or tried to get out into traffic. Bear died within 15 minutes dues to major lacerations at his hip. Must leave bear in the front yard until DOT comes to pick him up tomorrow. Here is a link to the Photo Bucket album if anyone wants to view. Did not post pictures here due to the nature of the wounds to the bear. Veiw at your own risk! HERE BEER30

  8. Whats the Closest Encounter, you ever had with wild life. tell your story... Back in 1986 I was riding with a club from Plattsburgh NY, called the Royal Knights. we were touring through the mountains, and came to a stop under some nice cover casting trees. to relax. from the back of the group, you can here, OH SH**!!! a few screams, OH Hell's !!!, and shot it, ring out. I'm standing their eating a half a sandwich, when I finally see it. and I slowly walk to the otherside of the bike. Of course it stops, and puts its paw on my seat. (3 or 4 year old Male Brown Bear) while sniffing my sandwich.. ( I'm thinking no Friggin way I'm giving up my lunch.. so I keep eating. one of the ladies, walks up behind me a sprays it in the face with mace. The bear takes off running, everyone still, running around there bikes, as it darts our across the main road, and into a large field.. so Linda asks, you wheren't giving up your sandwich were you? Noop.
  9. -- A bear got into an empty car, honked the horn and then sent it rolling 125 feet into a thicket, with the bear still inside, a Colorado family said. Seventeen-year-old Ben Story said he and his family were asleep in their Larkspur home, 30 miles south of Denver, when the bear managed to open the unlocked door of his 2008 Toyota Corolla early Friday and climbed inside. A peanut butter sandwich left on the back seat is probably what attracted the bear, Story said. It's not unusual for bears to open unlocked doors to cars and houses in search of food, said Tyler Baskfield, a spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. "It happens all the time,'' he said. "They're very smart.'' Once inside, the bear must have knocked the shifter on the automatic transmission into neutral, sending the car rolling backward down the inclined driveway and into the thicket, Story said. The door probably slammed shut when the car jolted to a stop, he said, trapping the bear inside. Neighbors had called 911, and deputies freed the bear by opening the door with a rope from a distance. It then ran into the woods. Story said he'll need a new car because the bear trashed the interior while apparently trying to find a way out. The bear also left what Story called "a present'' on the driver's seat. "A nice pile, actually,'' added his dad, Ralph. "Something to remember.'' Baskfield said such incidents are worrisome because they endanger the bear as well as the public. Wildlife managers trap and kill problem bears that learn to scavenge for human food and garbage. "Food was left in the car. It's troubling for us,'' he said. Had to be a relative!!!

    Bear Cub

I had a visitor last night at work. Around 6-7 week old female bear cub. She weighed about 3 lb. I am friends with a local DNR wildlife officer that currently has 3 baby bears. Their den got dozed out on a job site and the mother ran off. They waited for a day and she didn't come back. Today they are being put in the wild with new moms. I had never seen one that little. It was a great surprise for the girl I was working with. I have worked with her for 5 years. It was her last day at work and she had never seen a bear except maybe at a game farm. Can we say it was a photo op for the customers that came in. 1. The DNR officers son Sam that brought the cub to see us. 2. So cute 3. The cub and I 4. Des-my coworker with the cub. Her last day 5. My sister-in-law Christine fell in love. 6. Time for a Bottle 7. The Perfect photo for Bear Heaven (our Boyds bear shop)

  17. WATERBURY, Vt. — A Hinesburg man is recovering from broken bones after he hit a bear while riding a motorcycle on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury. The state police says that 52-year-old Neale Gow was southbound on Route 100 at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the bear moved into the road on front of him. Gow was thrown from his motorcycle. He was hospitalized with broken bones. There is no word on the condition of the bear. Good thing the bear didn't stick around. I have had my close encounter with a bear while riding my scoot.
  18. Got the carbs back on my bike and have a little line-up question. pushing down on 1 and 4 they sit solid. Pushing on 2 and three I can rock them almost 1/4 inch. Never noticed this before. Am I just looking for more problems on this thing or is this acceptable? Can't see anything in the way. These things are a bear for me hooking up cables. Really don't want to pull them again.
  19. I saw one that I just gotta ask what it is for. Ok, what is a Huggy Bear Award for?
