  1. The outside controller for the water and ice has a small round door that opens so the ice can slide down from the ice maker through the round door into the glass. For no reason both the water and ice stopped dispensing and this small round door keeps opening and then after the small round door opens fully the spring then shuts the door quickly. This cycle occurs every about every 7 seconds give or take a second. Several lights on the controller door keeps flashing. The water dispenser was flowing water very fast to the filter today so it is not pluged. I have pretty much dismantled the the controller door, looking at the small mother board and the motor unit to the ice dispenser. This where I could use some suggestions please.
  2. Went for a ride with the wife and a friend today. Just as we got into Martinsville we made a lane cahange to pass a tractror trailer and a car and as we passed the car shge decided to pull over on me. I was last in line as ususal. This lady pushed me all the way over to the comncrete medium to where I emidiatley started throwing sparks of of the concrete where my center stand rubbed it. Then she came on over completely in the lane and had me between her car and the medium. After a good hard kick to her driver side door she realized I was there. As she was pulling on up I was pissed so I kicked the back drivers side door also. We got up next to her at the light and tried to get her to [ull over so I could check for damages and she refused and drove off. I call the police and the officer who came to the scene told me not to worry about what i did as maybe now she will look before she changes lanes. Therre was no damage to my bike, just a little scrape mark on the center stand where it made contact. Now as for her car there is 2 size ten dents on the drivers side. Watch out there. They sure aint looking for you. David
  3. So as the wife was driving out of the garage this morning, I noticed the edges of the tires weren't wet (it was raining). the jeep has been riding a little rough since they were were installed. The door sticker calls for 35 lbs and they read 38 lbs. I don't think 3 lbs would do it, and it's not hard to check, but I'm just wondering if the door sticker might be a guideline and correct pressure will vary from tire to tire depending on sidewall stiffness and seven other things. Anyone got any thoughts on tire contact patch??
  4. I know everyone that turns wrenches on just about anything has stories that when thought about, would make one wonder how was I that stupid but later makes you laugh. Years ago, I had just finished a 4 year project, I took two Yamaha 750 specials and made one good out if it. It was beautiful! Every bolt removed and all the parts fixed polished and painted. Late one night I ran the bike and saw no problems, all was good I decided I would test ride it the next day. I went to the shop the next morning, put the liability insurance paperwork under the seat and installed the plates. I fired up the bike with the overhead door open, and let it run a bit to warm up. I picked a few tools up and turned my back for a few seconds.... I heard the now familiar whoosh ... I turned to see the bike on fire. Flames are coming out from under the fuel tank! No problem, I grab the fire extinguisher, pull the pin aim it at the fire and pull the handle. Pfffft, Oh Oh all I get is a poof of dust then nothing! Holy Crap! Now what? The fire has gotten bigger now...I am going to catch the whole shop on fire. So I grab the back of the bike and start sliding the thing towards the overhead door. It moved pretty good with it on the center stand and sliding across painted concrete. When I get it to the door... the center stand hits grass and stops dead... at about the same time the fire gets bigger as it has burned through the fuel line. Panic sets in as flames are melting the Styrofoam on the door. Somehow I grab the back of the bike and heave it into the lawn. It tips over and is fully engulfed. As this happens I hear my retired neighbor lady yell to her husband...GARY CALL 911 Rob has a fire!! I cant even remeber how I did it but I kick the fuel tank across the lawn and grab the water hose and the fire goes out. As I stand there and gaze at the pile of smouldering ruins I hear a calm voice behind me, its Gary my neighbor, he says Hmmm I see you got it out it doesnt look so bad. I bet you can fix it. I never did fix it. I hauled the remains, all the parts left over, and anything that had to do with this machine to a guy that wanted it. My wife and I laugh about it now, but in the end I was lucky to not get seriously burned, lucky to not burn the shop down. Even luckier to not have it start on fire while riding it. Moral of the story? Check your fire extinguisher! Have a spare!
  5. Need to get new tires for the cage (08 Taurus) Went to Sams Club, where I can get BF Goodrich Touring T/A tires for a little over $100 each, ....more like $140 each installed and out the door. Michelin Defender XT tires would be a little over $155 each, plus the add on charges, which I didn't get a quote on, but should take the price to around $190 each installed and out the door. Are Michelin's worth the extra two bills for the set? This car (great car) has 120 k miles on it, so this will probably be the last set of tires I'll put on it. I anticipate this Taurus will easily run 200K, but at that point I'll probably want to get something a bit fresher. So, the question is: are Michelins really that special?
  6. so i'm at my partners apartment today when we get a knock on the door. he goes and answers the door and standing in the hall are two really derpy looking women asking if he owns the motorcycle in the driveway. so i go over and say its mine well it turns out the idiots backed their Chevy cobalt into my VR. so now the rear left saddle bag is all scratched where it got hit and the front right side of the fairing has some broken mounting tabs and shifted when it toppled over. my insurance must love me two not at fault claims in one riding season. (on a good note i now know i can pick up my bike super easy)
  7. Just wanted to say THANKS!....I have just enjoyed another year here. Great folks like you have made the $12.00 that i just paid all the more Valuable. I haven't spent as much time here as i once did; but, every time i "open the front door" to this place I find you, and you treat me like a friend or family. Just wanted to say thanks for that.
  8. I hired on to shoot the RWRE Driving event this past weekend. It was mighty hot... Felt like I was going to fall out from the heat on the second day. Anyway, here are a few shots of something other than people sitting on the door getting a photo taken. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Driver1.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Insurance--.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Driver6.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Kid1.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Girl2.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Driver2.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Driver3.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/Cheers.jpg More on my site if you care to go look...
  9. Whats the definition of guts vs balls? Guts is when you come home from an all night drinking binge with your buddies and your wife greets you at the door with her broom and you say "are you still sweeping up or are you taking that out for a spin tonight"? Balls is when you come home from partying all night, smelling like stale beer and cheap perfume and your wife meets you at the door and you say " " Whoa, you're next, Chubby"

  12. Headed to door county wi on 6/13/12 if anyone is interested in meeting up and going for a ride.
  13. I'm not real keen on the "new improved" cages anyway, but some of the categories of the types of cars or SUVs or whatch-a-ma-call-it's leave me confused. TV commercials about the best mileage or passenger capacity or cubic feet of capacity or best warranty, then to call a vehicle a "crossover"??? I thought that had something to do with a certain kind of surgery that most people never have. Can someone please explain the differences of van, minivan, SUV, crossover, and/or any others that I'm not listing? Maybe I've just been around too long, but it seems to me that it was a lot easier to understand two door sedan, four door sedan, coupe, station wagon, and convertible.
  14. No it wasn't a deer.... We've been in this house for over 40 years, and this morning when I get up around 5:30am I look out the dining room door and see something curled up on the mat. Generally it's one of the cats. Looked closer and the cats don't have snouts. Thought it might be a stray dog. Walked over toward the door and it gets up and starts to walk away. It's got a big long bushy tail. Not a dog...it's a fox!! I've seen a lot of animals around here over the years since we live close to a river and a wildlife center, but this is the first and only time I've ever seen a fox, and it acted like one of the family.... Intertaining to say the least.....
  15. I read this and thought it was worth passing on... you never know when that little action on your part has a big impact on somebody else. A sweet lesson on patience. A NYC Taxi driver wrote: I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware. 'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.' 'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?' 'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly.. 'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice. I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice..'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. 'What route would you like me to take?' I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired.Let's go now'. We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. 'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse. 'Nothing,' I said 'You have to make a living,' she answered. 'There are other passengers,' I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.She held onto me tightly. 'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.' I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut.It was the sound of the closing of a life.. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day,I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver,or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
  16. Still a newbie.....stupid question...the cassette door is stuck closed...not a bad thing as posted here but would like to access the aux jack...any easy fixes ..have tried wd40 spray...pushed the stupid thing every way...can this be accessed behind fairing to trip door loose thanks les
  17. Two Irishmen are sitting in the pub window seat, watching the front door of the brothel over the road. The local Methodist pastor appears, glances around and quickly goes inside. "Would you look at that!" says the first Irishman. "Didn't I always say what a bunch of hypocrites they are?" No sooner are the words out of his mouth than a Rabbi appears at the door, furtively looks about, and goes inside. "Another one trying to fool everyone with pious preaching and stupid hats!" They continue drinking their beer roundly condemning the vicar and the rabbi when they see their own Catholic priest knock on the door. "Ah, now dat's sad." says the second Irishman. "One of the girls must have died...”

  19. :sleigh:It has long been a tradition to place a star at the top of a Christmas tree. A recent trend has been to place an Angel there instead of the star. The reason for this change may not be known to all of you, so I will enlighten you. It is December 21st and Santa is just about completely stressed out. He and Mrs. Clause are on the outs, so he's been trying to get some sleep on the couch. The Elf's union has taken a strike vote and it looks like they are going to walk out at midnight, leaving a kazillion toys unassembled. The world is full of on-going wars, lots of no-fly zones and he's trying to figure out how to fly under the radar. Rudolph has come down with a terrible head cold and his nose is only working part-time. As the wizened old whiskered one is trying to cope with all of these situations, there is a light tap-tap-tap on his front door. Grumbling to himself, Santa yanks open the door, shouts "Now what?", looks around and finally looks down. He discovers a small, shy, just-got her-wings Angel. Full of the Christmas spirit and the joy of the season she looks up at Santa and chirps "Hi Santa. I'm your Christmas Angel and I have your tree for this year. Where would you like me to put it?" And thus a new tradition has it's beginning. Yeah, I know. But I still think it's fun to tell. Merry Christmas to all.
  20. Just got a 'phone call from bike transport to say they have one space on the truck, and I will have the trike at my door on the 19th December !!
  21. A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. "Not a chance," says the husband, "it is 3:00 in the morning!" He slams the door and returns to bed. "Who was that?" asked his wife.. ... "Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers. "Did you help him?..." she asks. "No, I did not, it's 3am in the morning and it's pouring rain out there!" "Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself! "God loves drunk people too you know." The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain. He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?" "Yes," comes back the answer. "Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband. "Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark. "Where are you?" asks the husband. "Over here on the swing," replied the drunk..
  22. I wanted to be the first to say Happy Birthday Charlie go out and catch some fish but dont forget to close the door its getting cold down here in the south. Jeff
  23. Ok now I ran across this and wondered a few things, like how can you put the icc sticker on the door, how long your trans will last. . . . [ame=http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1704445/motorcycle_tow_vehicle/]www.metacafe.com/watch/1704445/motorcycle_tow_vehicle/[/ame]
  24. Hi Just wanted to say a big thanks to Starstruck for adding to our recent holiday in Wyoming. It was great to spend lunch at the Irma in Cody with a fellow Venture rider and talk about where to go and what to see. It really made a difference to get some local knowledge. Those roads across the plain from Grand Teton to Laramie are awesome. Although we were in a can, we picked up some great riding roads like the switchbacks up to Dinosaur Ridge behind Golden in Colorado or the run up to Estes Park. You guys are very lucky to have a country to run in like that right on the back door. We've had five holidays in the States and each one has been FAB. The wife's even thinking about hiring a bike for the next one! Trouble is i can't read the speedo's on the new Harley's and that and BM's seem to be the only things out for hire. Thanks once again
  25. Statistics finally caught up with me. On the 21st I was riding in Kerrville TX and a young woman pulled out of a parking lot in front of me to go the other direction. Didn't have much time, pretty sure I hit the Stebel horn (at least that is what I remember) and tried to turn out of her way hoping she would stop. Ended up catching her SUV on the bumper, the bike skidded into the vehicle and I left a nice dent in her door with my shoulder. Bike ended up facing back the way I came. As I was picking myself up off the ground she opened the door and said she didn't see me. After I screamed at her about hearing the horn she said she hadn't and got back in her car. I think she may have been a bit afraid of me at that point. EMTs transported me, a wrecker company took my bike and her SUV. The bumper was pushed sideways and back into the tire making it undrivable. I am sore, but on my way back to Georgia in my RV. I think my baby is toast though.
