  1. Baby Boomers Hope this works, funny and hits close to home
  2. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/IMAG0264.jpg Im glad how it came out. If you look close you can see imperfections but who will be looking so close. I cut in angles with a hacksaw then filed down to a round shape. finished it off with some clear nail polish. While I had it off i sanded all the surface rust from the pivot points and greased all points with some moly.
  3. Happy Birthday Buddy!!! You were sooo close to being a Christmas baby!
  4. This list has been a real help as I struggled to get my 92 Venture back up and running. Starter Clutch replaced, Carbs redone and sync. changed all fluids out, all with help or advise from this list. The results is about 700 miles so far on the best riding for comfort bike I have ever ridden. I have had goldwings and Harleys and none of them takes a pot hole or railroad crossing or that invisable bump like the Venture. Even my Harley die hard was blown away with a RR crossing I dared him to take. The bike matching the feeling in new car (well ok close real close) For a guy with a bad back that is a must. It cost a lot of time and money to get the bike running and I hope I avoid any more trouble but for the ride I will just continue to throw money at the bike to fix it when the problem comes up. Thanks to all on this list who post and help others. My abilities and knowledge is limited at best so about all I can do is say thanks you guys make a difference.
  5. While trying to find a new source for Plastex I came across this site http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/cmpages/01-00542-45.php?clickkey=57384 for all purposes this seems to be Plastex under another name. I do not know how currant the info is but if it is there are a few locations in the USA and one here in Ontario. It appears you can mail order or purchase over the counter if you are close enough. Here is a link for you Americans http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=plastifix&x=48&y=17 A list of locations Spruce Locations West - Corona, CA East - Peachtree City, GA Canada - Brantford, ON International Reps Avionics Affiliates
  6. The wife wants to ride down to the Alamo and the river walk. What hotel would you guys recommend from $100-150 range that's close by and mc friendly? Thanks in advance.
  7. I know, I'm not the first one, or be the last to gripe about cagers that just got to squeeze you out of your lane or just get too danged close while trying to pass on the road. It's disturbing and it's all too often. But wait! There is a product out there that will help deter those who like to run snug against you. Maybe not stop 'em but at least a reminder to them that you have met. Well in our minds anyway. But I want a couple. (Yep, I had one of those days on the Interstate again. The old Snag was showing his teeth today) http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=55&zenid=bvh4343hbvggs4oall8vdu9i04 Mike
  8. Just to let any members in the area know about a ride this saturday September 8th... This benefits the Fisher house which provides housing for military families and allows them to be close to their loved ones, while they are in the hospital....... Shari and I will be coming down for this ride....
  9. I know is almost time to go back home, but Who is close to South Haven, Mi??? I plan to ride tomorrow afternoon around, since Sunday morning we 're facing back home...
  10. Hi all; Wondering if any members are close to Imperial Beach/San Diego CA that could run by and check out a 1st Gen ? I have a friend that is interested in one and though I have volunteered to drive over with my trailer to pick it up with him, it would be good if somebody familiar with 1st Gens could just see if it is what the owner/seller claims. So..???
  11. The trunk on my 83 VR has not closed great since I bought it. It looks like the p.o. let it tumble off the bike while driving. The gaps on the top and bottom halves, don't match up when you close the lid. Has anyone tried to tweek the cases on these bikes? I have tried but I am a little scared of breaking them.
  12. Hi everyone.I have had it with people tailgating me on my bike.I have actually had some so close all I could see was the hood of the car.But I finally found a way to get them to back off.May sound kinda gross to some of you but I have done it three times now and each time it has worked.I just kinda flip my head back and sideways a bit as I spit over my shoulder.Don't know if it is actually hitting the windshield or they see me and realize what I am doing ,but all three times I have done it they back off real quick and one even flipped me the bird as I pulled into the turn lane as they passed me.I may survive going down but I really don't want to be run over by a car following too close if I do go down.
  13. Did somebody had the problem I have right now. I cannot close the cover of the cassette receptacle. Any suggestions?
  14. Back on November 4th 1967, two very young people decided to tie the knot. I was blessed to marry the magnificent Nadine I. Templin, and she remained the love of my life for the next 45 years. Wife, Mother, Teacher, Councilor, Friend. Last night she lost a battle with liver cancer, and there was nothing I could do to fix it. She was surrounded by family and close friends, and slipped away peacefully. She’s now in a much better place, and God has inherited a mighty warrior of the Gospel. Rest in Peace Sweety, I love you…..
  15. Its getting close I will be cleaning the shop this week end and getting the campground ready. And I was down at the campground and that creek monster came out of the creek and went in the corn and started his laps threw the corn. Sure am looking forward to meeting some new freinds and seeing some old ones. Have a safe and enjoable ride here. Orlin and Sharon
  16. who lives close to me that has the gage and the knowledge to use it? I've had my bike for two years and have never had it done. of course it runs like a raped ape i think it's time to do it. I'm off on Tue and wed and can make the drive if it's fairly close. i know 1rooster has one but seems like we did he's a couple of years ago at the Lexington BBQ and i don't think he can set them but i could be wrong. thanks P.S. i live in black mountain,NC.
  17. Kruis'n the Kootenays Motorcycle Rally I hope you have your reservations made and the GPS's configured, as we are getting close to needing numbers for the New Grand's Catering Dept. so we will need to know fairly close numbers of how many we will be feeding for the hosted meals. If your plans are still up in the air but you think you still may want to come please drop us a msg so we can talk. Looking forward to getting those roads all rode on and meeting all you folks!
  18. On his brand new Ninja 650R. He took the msf course and bought that bike, and I thought; hmmmm. He had 574 miles exactly of experience. We were 3 in a line, and he was leading and I was last. Following a car too close going about 25, the driver slammed her brakes (because she was also following too close), he panicked and locked up the fr wheel, and zip- he was over the top in an instant. He got lucky- scraped the heck out of some skin, and bike is probably totaled, but no major injury. Hopefully the next bike won't be a ZX-14!
  19. Nina's mom passed away peacefully yesterday appx 4:10 PM with Nina and her 2 brothers at her bedside. She was 88? (not sure). Her health deteriorated since her brother passed last year. They were very close and she is now with him again. Rest in Peace mom.
  20. I have a TCI that needs the diodes replaced. I have the diodes and was going to do it myself, but after loosing sight in my right eye, I am not comfortable trying to do it. My depth perception up close really sucks. I can open it up so you can get to both sides of the board if that will help. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. RandyA
  21. was thinking of putting together a nc maintenance day however i don't have all the tools and very little knowledge on working on these bikes.(no lift or stand) i have a two car garage for working on them just thought i'd ask for some feed back on this.not trying to get to fancy just trying to do something for nc.if i lived close to the coast it would be no problem, i could just kidnap muffinman, lol.please give me your thoughts and tell me if i'm grasping at straws or not, thanks.
  22. believe it or not i do try to use the search option before asking questions. i have found i get better search results when i go to open a new thread and type in the subject than it opens other topics that are close to what i'm looking for. dose anyone know why that seems to work better than the search box? or the search thats listed in the menue bar.
  23. i know this was my first year of doing the nc meet and eats and hope that next year will be a lot better. i will be working on looking at the calander and trying my best not to have them on holiday weekends.think i will try to keep about the same destanations as this year.i try having them where more members can make them and maybe have them close enough to draw some from sc,tn and some ga folks, of course all are welcome.thoght about even playing around the thought of having a ride and stay over at a motel and than finishing up with it sat, dont know yet.
  24. Found this bouncin' around at work looking for some clean humor, hard to find these days, enjoy :] Susie's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day. One day as he slipped back into consciousness, he motioned for her to come close to him. She pulled the chair close to the bed and leaned her ear close to be able to hear him. "You know" he whispered, his eyes filling with tears, "you have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you stuck right beside me. When my business went under, there you were. When we lost the house, you were there. When I got shot, you stuck with me. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. "And you know what?" "What, dear?" she asked gently, smiling to herself. "I think you're bad luck."
  25. While on a ride today I had a close encounter with a Turkey Buzzrd, the silly thing took off as I was approaching and flew back across the road. Managed to go between the windshield and me, his wing was right in front of my face , had to duck to miss him, good thing I did not have a passenger, because they would have collected the bird for sure. My buddy riding behind me said it was so close he thought I had hit the bird, but we both survived to talk about it.
