  1. Thank you both. I guess my concern is that at some point I'll need to sell her, and then have the job of explaining to any prospective buyer that 'they all do that'. I guess I could always point them in the direction of this forum. Anyway that day is some way off I hope, thanks again.
  2. Tried the oil down the schro..... valve thingy. Short piece of garden hose fitts over the valvle stub and left it overnight to slowly settle in. Had it on the centre stand and rolled it off to 'pump' the shock. It shocked me back with a little spit full of oil ( a real Homer moment!!). However, after sealing everything up and putting in about 20psi the damn squeak is still there. Perhaps it will settle out after tomorrows ride. Otherwise what else is there left apart from a new shock?
  3. Hi there. I'm afraid its that old grumble about a noisy rear shock. It has never leaked oil and still holds about 18psi. I had a go last summer of getting rid of the squeak in my rear shock. So off it came and all the places recommended here to be greased up were. To no avail as it still squeaks audibly. So my question is, and I apologise if its already been covered on the forum, can I reduce the noise by increasing/decreasing the air pressure and can I lubricate the piston rod via the air hose without taking the shock off the bike? Thanks guys and gals for listening. By the way, any of you tested the new Guzzi California 1400... it's a really sweet ride.
  4. Pity we can't get gauges that mimic the speedo style. A three all in one design would be great. Brilliant bracket idea though, well done.
  5. Yes, the UK Venture club has just started up again. I'm a member and they may well be able to help with a swap/hire option. Definitely worth contacting.
  6. Had a look on line here in the UK and came up with some options below. http://www.raceways.net http://www.superbikehire.co.uk wwwnewhorizonsbikehire.co.uk http://www.hexagonmotorcycles.co.uk First run through did not throw anything up in the area you are staying, but let me know if these don't work out for you and I'll try again. Cheers
  7. As Kurt suggests, we will be back to play in your sand pit!
  8. Hi Just wanted to say a big thanks to Starstruck for adding to our recent holiday in Wyoming. It was great to spend lunch at the Irma in Cody with a fellow Venture rider and talk about where to go and what to see. It really made a difference to get some local knowledge. Those roads across the plain from Grand Teton to Laramie are awesome. Although we were in a can, we picked up some great riding roads like the switchbacks up to Dinosaur Ridge behind Golden in Colorado or the run up to Estes Park. You guys are very lucky to have a country to run in like that right on the back door. We've had five holidays in the States and each one has been FAB. The wife's even thinking about hiring a bike for the next one! Trouble is i can't read the speedo's on the new Harley's and that and BM's seem to be the only things out for hire. Thanks once again
  9. Hey LilBeaver, you were lucky to see any Ventures 2nd or otherwise. You've done way beter than me. Since I've owned mine I've seen three! so not much chance of re-igniting the UK club then. Perhaps Prince Charles could try!
  10. This turned up in one of our UK national papers today. Perhaps the title should have read 'good breeding goes with good taste! I've tried to upload the picture but can only send you the link. Prince Charles aboard a Midnight Venture! well I didn't expect to see that. It was all in aid of a very good cause, but I bet someone was holding the back to prevent him dropping it! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/prince-charles/8583623/Prince-of-Wales-Charlies-angels-meet-the-biker-Prince.html Let me know if the picture fails to appear with the link
  11. If any venture riders in the UK are not aware - this bank holiday (Monday) Thanet is hosting its 4th annual Ace Cafe meet in Margate. We estimate around 45, 000 bikes will attend this event on and around the harbour. With live bands, bars and stalls its the place to be this Monday. I'll post some pics next week.
  12. Are some of you guys really riding without gloves? A friend of mine is still pulling stones out of his gravel rash, and his crash with no gloves was two years ago!
  13. Hey Jonas, you are right these guys are the best. As is your country by the way. We were up there a few years ago and ended our break in the Hotel Glymer (whale fyord). I'll never forget sitting in the heated open air pool with a single malt watching the sun go down with all kinds of birds flying over head. We took thermals for our holiday but had no rain and no wind, just sun. If any of you guys are thinking of going to Iceland do it. its an amazing place and you don't have to be geologist to find the landscape and people amazing.
  14. And there was I going with a hand held brass bell - gotta be better than the tin things on there at present!
