  1. OK, i've read every post on the site regarding rear shocks, and they vary from 2005 to the present. Right now i'm looking for current info, based on opinion or actual experience--either will do...So of the three readily available aftermarket shocks, (not counting OEM, which is a piece of dog crap, no intent to insult dog crap) which is the best, and why? My research has revealed the following: Hagon. $469 YSS. $499 Works. $879 Figure $30 for shipping...OK, except for the obvious (hint, involves greenbacks) what breaks out one shock from the other? Why does the Works cost so damned much? Anyone have anything good or bad to say about any of these? Anyone know of any other shocks on the market? Thanks for the help, Fred
  2. A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale 'He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there. 'You talk?' he asks. 'Yep,' the Lab replies. After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?' The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.' 'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running... But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.' 'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.' The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. 'Ten dollars,' the guy says. 'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?' 'Because he's a Bull****ter. He's never been out of the yard'
  3. Well, my Venture found a new owner in New York. I've bought and sold bikes, trucks, riding mowers, motorcycles etc. all my life and never felt remorse for doing it until I followed my Venture down the road. Never seen the rear end going down the highway before and realizing it wasn't coming back was reminiscent of when we had to put our dog to sleep after 18 years of friendship and never questioning love. I guess I finally understand why some of you guys talk so affectionately of your bike -
  4. I got a new dog to guard my house. It was a little more than I thought I should pay but I think when word gets out I'll be a relatively crime free neighborhood. The nice part is he is a year old and already fully trained. For your safety you might want to call the house from the driveway and in the safety of your car!
  5. Anybody ever have or raise a rat terrier? This may be one of the greatest challenges I have ever taken on. Full of energy and smart as a whip. I am a labrador type guy. I like easy dogs to train. This one aint easy. This one has a tendancy to nip. Not a bite yet. The growl comes before the nip. 8 months old. I never hit a dog. the voice should command the dog. This one must have missed that day in school. Here is some history on the devil spawn. We got him at 8 weeks from the APL. His tail was docked. He chewed on me from the get go. He is chewing less from verbal repercussions. I think he got pulled from mom too early. He is so smart. Just bad. This pup will be a challenge.
  6. after too many years Renate finally came off the road for medical reasons. Was pretty lonely at home by herself so a week ago we went to the humane society and adopted a hound cross as a companion. 11 months old and smart and stubborn at the same time, quite a handful. they bonded within 2 days and now he wont leave her side. Just got to figure out where to put a 50 pound dog with the wife on a bike. hey gary, any restictions on pups at pork in the pines? al
  7. No it wasn't a deer.... We've been in this house for over 40 years, and this morning when I get up around 5:30am I look out the dining room door and see something curled up on the mat. Generally it's one of the cats. Looked closer and the cats don't have snouts. Thought it might be a stray dog. Walked over toward the door and it gets up and starts to walk away. It's got a big long bushy tail. Not a dog...it's a fox!! I've seen a lot of animals around here over the years since we live close to a river and a wildlife center, but this is the first and only time I've ever seen a fox, and it acted like one of the family.... Intertaining to say the least.....

    Oh Oh

Biker's Dog A highly timid little man, ventured into a biker bar in the Bronx and clearing his throat asked, "Um, err, which of you gentlemen owns the Doberman tied outside to the parking meter?" A giant of a man, wearing biker leathers, his body hair growing out through the seams, turned slowly on his stool, looked down at the quivering little man and said, "It's my dog. Why?" "Well," squeaked the little man, obviously very nervous, "I believe my dog just killed it, sir." "What?" roared the big man in disbelief. "What in the hell kind of dog do you have?" "Sir," answered the little man, "it's a little four week old female puppy." "Bull!" roared the biker, "how could your puppy kill my Doberman?" "It appears that your dog choked on her, sir."

  10. Hello Everyone: Just wondering if any other Sturgis visitors remember seeing a guy with his Dog, Cat Albino Rat combination??? He has trained a Dog to carry a Cat on its back and then trained an Albino Rat to ride on top of the Cat. Not something you see everyday. I spotted him in Bridgeport Nebraska yesterday. Spoke to him briefly. Nice, Polite guy. He was headed North with his odd looking RV. I realized it him when he let the Dog, Cat and Rat out for a brief walk. I got a picture of the RV Rig but the dog cat and rat jumped back into the shack before I could get a picture. Imagine driving this 50+ foot slow moving rig 250 miles!!!
  11. A dog lover, whose female dog was in heat, agreed to look after her neighbors' male dog while they were on vacation. She had a large house and believed that she could keep them apart. As she was drifting off to sleep, she heard awful howling and moaning. She rushed downstairs to find the dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage, as so frequently happens when dogs mate. She was unable to separate them and panicked about what to do. Although it was about 11:00 pm, she called her vet. After a long time, he answered in a grumpy voice. She explained the problem. The vet said, "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs I'll call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he'll be able to withdraw." "Do you really think that will work?" she asked. "It just worked for me," he said and hung up.

  18. Rode to Houston from Corpus Christi on Satuday to pick up some parts for another bike in the stable. Starter crapped out again, a welcomed push start from a group of amassed Patriot Guard Riders in a Walmart parking lot got me on the road again (Hey, works great if you let the bike sit for an hour, this is # 3 starter by the way). Another cracked armature, I'm sure. I couldn't shut the bike off while fueling, and later while being ticketed for 4 MPH over the posted limit in Port Lavaca (Labor Day weekend, no mercy ya' know). The officer was livid about that, but finally gave in when I asked if he would help me push start the bike. OK, Iv'e reaped cheap long enough, drove to San Antonio today and bought a GL1800. One well used 87 venture for sale, about 3K in it over the last three years, Ignatech igniter (bought it two years ago when it was the hot topic and mine had failed, God bless them Croations), new metering needles and seats, choke plungers, diaphrams, starter rollers, E-3's, updated brakes, Progressive springs, Franks forks, and that wonderful fork brace, along with all the stuff that was supposed to make this thing charming. BYE BYE. Great site we have here, a wealth of information as I have found, by the same token, you can chrome plate a dog turd, but you still have a dog turd all the same, it's just real shiny. Not bitter, just done with supporting a black hole. If I had one positive thing to say about this old beast, it would be that through it all, it smoked every Harley (and one Boss Mustang) that ever tried to pull the trigger on it. It did have that one redeeming value. God Bless, I will keep my membership intact, just that I will be reading the Wing Forum from here on out..
  19. MY DOG http://us.f1614.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f935928%5fAPfTi2IAASTaTkflzAD1SkSaLx8&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 It's just dawned on me!! My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day. He has his food prepared for him. He can eat whenever he wants. His meals are provided at no cost to him. He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year if any medical needs arise. For this he pays nothing and nothing is required of him. He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep. If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up. He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep. He receives these accommodations absolutely free. He is living like a King, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day. I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick ........ I think my dog is a member of Congress

    Koko

One of my best friends died today. Her name Was Koko. That was short for Kokopelli. She was a mini Schnauzer and one of the finest dogs I ever met. She turned 16 years old this year. She has been having some issues with her health that have magnified the last few weeks. Today she lost the use of her right rear leg. She has been having trouble getting around and having seizures. She was in pain when we layed her in her bed. The time had come for my friend to leave us for a better place. Char, Buddy and I will really miss you Koko. You were a great dog.
  21. Bought without wife's knowledge. Wife upset with me. I know-- I'll tell her Monty made me do it. After all, he and Angel were tent camping when we met them. He has a camper now. Dog gave his appoval. Wife took a nap in it. All is good again. Its a 2004 Aspen Classic--screen room--elec. brakes
  22. How do you turn a fox into an elephant? Marry It! What is the difference between a battery and a woman? A battery has a positive side. Why is the space between a woman's breasts and her hips called a waist? Because you could easily fit another pair of tits in there.. How do you make 5 pounds of fat look good? Put a nipple on it. Why do women fake orgasms ? Because they think men care. What do you say to a woman with 2 black eyes? Nothing, she's been told twice already. If your wife keeps coming out of the kitchen to nag at you, what have you done wrong? Made her chain too long. Why is a Laundromat a really bad place to pick up a woman? Because a woman who can't even afford a washing machine will probably never be able to support you. Why do women have smaller feet than men? It's one of those 'evolutionary things' that allows them to stand closer to the kitchen sink. Why do men pass gas more than women? Because women can't shut up long enough to build up the required pressure. If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first ? The dog, of course. He'll shut up once you let him in. Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman's sex drive by90%.. It's called a Wedding Cake. Why do men die before their wives? They want to. My wife sent this to me so I hope we are at PG I think it is but it made me laugh
