  1. After 6 years of saving and planning the building has started. Im putting up a 40 by 80 pole building with 40 by 40 for a heated shop and the other half for her horses. Dirt and fill is being delivered as I write this. My final addition to my little piece of America. Got to watch the first loads being dumped on facetime. When I get home in July the building will be there and Ill put the electrical and other miscellaneous items in. I cant wait. No more tripping over the toys in the garage. What do you all have for a shop? Should I finish the interior in steel or wood? Any ideas and pics would sure help. rjjammer
  2. How many of you guys ride in the Toys for Tots parade in Chicago? Thought about doing it, wondering how many have and how they felt about it. Thanks Ed 1988 Venture Royale

  4. Sailor

    Toy run

Had a great toy run here yesterday. We started with 40 bikes two years ago, got 80 last year and 120 this year. Hoping for 150 next year. Not bad for a small island. Last year we raised $2000 and a truck load of toys for underprivileged kids. I know we did better this year. Got to get a lighter Santa suit though. The one I borrow is heavy duty and it is hot, hot, hot in August.
  5. I wish I had the spare time to come up with these toys. http://www.wimp.com/waterpack/#
  6. I just finished doing my taxes last night, and efiled them. I got an email back from the efile company stating that the IRS is not accepting or processing any taxes (paper or electronic) that used a Schedule A, till at least 2-14-2011. Baby needs new toys.
  7. If you live near Augusta and this isn't true, keep it to yourself. This makes my day! Guys ought to be more careful when they're running with knives . . . Maybe if he'd not accidently stabbed that Cpl, the Marines might not have chased him and he wouldn't have fallen. Funny how things like that--unintended consequences--happen, isn't it? Also, I think we have a new definition for "loser." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AUGUSTA, Ga. - A U.S. Marine reservist collecting toys for children was stabbed when he helped stop a suspected shoplifter in eastern Georgia. Best Buy sales manager Orvin Smith told The Augusta Chronicle that the man was seen on surveillance cameras Friday putting a laptop under his jacket at the Augusta store. When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, pulled a knife and ran toward the door. Outside were four Marines collecting toys for the service branch's "Toys For Tots" program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back. The cut did not appear to be severe. The suspect was transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken leg, possible broken ribs, assorted lacerations and bruises he obtained when he fell trying to run after stabbing the Marine. The suspect, whose name was not released, was held until police arrived. The Richmond County Sheriff's office said it is investigating. And the investigators found out it happened just like the Marines said. Must have been a nasty fall! Semper Fi

  9. Couple days ago I finally fired up the heater in the garage and began a project that I had put off for 2 weeks. Girls had asked me if I would build there cats a plaything. Well i just used mostly scrap wood I had in stock and let my imagination go wild. After I was done they helped me do the painting and added some cheap cat toys to it. Also If ya look close ya can see a fish light tube that was Nicoles that had been stored away years ago. Figured might as well put it to some use. Daughter Sarah arrived home just in time to help with final painting and attachments. Sarah Pam and I had a couple cold ones in celebrating her coming home, and finishing cat christmas present. Nicole, who ended up doing most of the painting had to settle for a non-acholic strawberry dakerie. All in all it was alot of fun and cats are luvin it. Vibrant color paint = $17.49 Misc. cat toys = $ 8.99 Happy cats = Priceless http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/th_100_3665.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/th_100_3660.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/th_100_3652.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/th_100_3655.jpg

  15. Cops accused of Toys for Tots thefts ‘tarnished’ police’s image, official says By Freeman Klopott Examiner Staff Writer 12/25/08 The four District of Columbia police officers reportedly caught on tape stealing from Toys for Tots “tarnished” the department’s image, a police official said. Police confirmed that the four officers had been put on desk jobs as internal affairs investigates them for stealing toys. Officials said if the officers did take the toys intended for the city’s youth, they will be prosecuted. On Christmas Day, the department’s community outreach director, Yvonne Smith, fired off a message to an e-mail network for residents of the Southeast D.C. neighborhood where the thefts allegedly occurred. Smith wrote that she’d hoped to see Christmastime news coverage include positive stories about police outreach in one of the city’s poorest, most crime-plagued neighborhoods — the 6th District in Southeast Washington — instead of a tale about the strong victimizing the weak. The story of the four officers accused of taking the toys “starts off Christmas on a sour note, puts distance between the community and the police, and worst of all, tarnishes the image of the Department during a time when we are trying to build strong relationships to foster trust that ultimately helps us solve crimes,” Smith wrote. As police officials released few details on the investigation on Christmas Eve, police cadets were unloading a van stuffed with toys at Sursum Corda and Potomac Gardens Public Housing Developments, Smith wrote. “People of all ages ran out and surrounded them, taking toys and saying, ‘the police have never done anything like this here,’ ” she wrote, highlighting how police outreach can benefit relations with the community. “Please don’t let the Christmas story of the day be about an investigation of officers who make up .001 percent of the department,” Smith concluded. “Many many many more members made outstanding contributions during this holiday season to make a difference in the lives of families who are struggling.” Two of the accused officers worked for the department’s youth services division, and the four were caught on tape taking the toys, WJLA reported. 19. I had a chance to ride with another Venture today that was identical to mine but with MANY more toys on it. So, I got to see what mine would look like with lots of toys. He had aftermarket pipes on it that sounded pretty good. He said they are Sampson slipons but didn't remember the model of the pipes. He said he bought them because he wanted Fishtails. I really liked them because they weren't overly loud, but had a nice tone to them. I thought I would ask opinions on a couple of forums about Sampson. Do any of you have experience with them - good or bad? How is their quality? craigr

  24. I know lots of us have young children in our lives, be they our children, nieces or nephews, grandchildren. So I've been looking around at alternative places to get toys. I found this really interesting site. The toys are all American made. Lots of old stuff too that I'm sure plenty will remember. Here's the link. http://www.fatbraintoys.com/index.cfm After watching the news today with the latest recall on toys that can kill kids or put them in a coma, I was really upset. Christmas is on it's way and what do you get for the children in your life. Luckily some of the old board games are still available as well out there. Hope this helps anyone looking for a safe toy for that child in your life (no matter how old they may be) Margaret
  25. After reading the recent post concerning all the toy recalls I guess it just makes me mad that all this stuff is coming to light all of a sudden. I mean, how long has this went on and we're just now finding out there's a problem? Doesn't that seem kind of odd? Is there no regulations saying that we need to be checking these things when they come into our country? As someone pointed out we can't directly control what is made overseas, but we certainly can do spot checks once it gets onto our soil. I also take some of the responsibility because I never once questioned the safety of paint and such in the chinese made toys I know I have bought for my kids and now my grand kids over the years. Last year I did buy my one grandkids a set of Lincoln Logs. He still builds things with them. He's found out you don't have to have a battery powered toy in order to have fun. As a grandpa I think I'll just determine in my own heart to go back to simpler toys for the kids this year and in the coming years. It's time I become responsible for my own actions and not get pulled into the advertising hype that tells us the only good gifts are the electrical ones that come from wherever. Everyone ride safe and God bless you all.
