  1. www.overtons.com Try checking out marine speakers. I am not sure if they make a 4" size, but it's worth looking. The ones on my pontoon boat sound great and they are waterproof to boot. Just another option to think about. Ride safe
  2. Well Squid, Since we just met a couple weeks ago, I am sad to see you go. Drive safe, enjoy the new beginning, and embrace life for all it's worth. Thanks again for the lunch at Tony Packo's. Tell Lonna we said hi and bye. May Giod bless you my friends.
  3. Here’s the last update on what has transpired since my wreck on Sept. 4th. As some of you might remember, when they did the CT scan after the accident, they had found enlarged lymph nodes in my chest area and also a suspicious look spot on my left lung. The two things together added up to trouble. I got into see a pulmonologist last week. He brings up my CT scan while my wife and I sat in his office. Takes a look and begins to tell us that the other doctors had made a mistake when they looked at the scan. Yes, I do have enlarged lymph node (twice what they should be) and it’s called sarcoidosis. There is over a 99% chance it will never turn cancerous. Then he looks for the spot on my lung that they were so worried about and tells me not to worry about that either. Apparently I have a blood vessel that is a little bigger than normal for that spot in the lung. He zoomed in on it and said, look, see how you can trace it? So it’s all great news. My wife and I were very relieved. The insurance company stopped by my house Saturday morning and gave me a check to total out the bike. So it’s gone for good. I’m not sure if I am going to ride again right now. With winter coming I have some time to think about that part. So here’s the deal of the day. I have an older Neosho 16 cu/ft Starlight trailer, 8” wheels painted black and red that needs some cosmetic work. It is road worthy, has a spare tire and rack for a cooler on the front. I don’t have pics right now but will get. I will sell the trailer and my Sears motorcycle jack both for $150.00. If anyone is interested let me know. The trailer really needs some body work and maybe a paint job, or the frame could be used as the start of a trailer project. I have pulled it for years, though. You can e mail me at whozleft@yahoo.com or call me at 740-403-1634. I live just east of Columbus Ohio. I am thinking that if I ever do get another bike, I more than likely won't get another tourer. I just don't need that big of bike again. My wife stopped wanting to travel on the bike a couple years ago, so a bigger bike is overkill. I appreciate everyone's prayers and good thoughts through these past 3 weeks. I am so glad that I can call the VentureRiders my family. Tak care and ride safe.
  4. Hi all, I would appreciate some prayers. I posted a week or two ago about the accident I had the Friday before Labor Day. I went down on the intersate in rush hour traffic. My helmet hit the pavem, ent so hard I more than likely would have been braian dead if I hadn't had it on. Aftyer reading the accident report this past weeken I also found out that a semi truck barely missed me as I was passed out in the middle lane of the freeway. Thankfully the driver was able to brake a swerve enough to get around me. God was with me and I didn't even get a broken bone. Only some road rash, very sore muscles, etc. from which I am recovering quickly. I also mentioned they found I had some enlarged lymph nodes in my chest area when they did the CAT scan in the emergency department. I followed uip with the doctor and found out on that visit that I also have a "nodule" in my left lung. Talk about a punch in the gut. I was never a smoker. They won't say anything else until they know for sure. They have already got me into a pulmonologist tomorrow and he will be scheduling a bronchoscopy for me so they can get a biopsy of the thing to see what we are dealing with. As for the bike, I got a call last night telling me they are going to total it. I am calling the adjuster back in a few minutes to get the details. So I will be Ventureless but will still hang around if you don't mind. My wife wants an end to the biking and I am just dealing with the health issues right now. So we'll give it some time to see how we feel in the Spring. I am feeling like maybe the accident happened so I would find whatever it is that is taking up residence in my lung. I am normally not good about going to the doctor and really haven't had any clue that there I appreciate you all. Ride safe.
  5. Who will mount the car tires on the bikes rim? Does anyone refuse to do so? I'm just curious.
  6. It was me. Last friday afternoon on the way home from work on I-70 just east of Columbus, OH then traffic came to a very abrupt halt. Mostly due to a bunch of "I have to get in front of as many people as I can" folks who were in the left hand lane that was ending soon. Those people caused everyone to slam on their brakes because they were forceing themslves into the lane in front of everyone. The car right in front of me had to stop very quickly, I hadn;'t given myseklf enough room I guess, hit my brakes tried to get into the other lane only to see two other cars coming up to beat out as many other cars that they could. I had no choice but to hit the car in front of me. I managed to slide the bike sideways so I wouldn't hit front wheel first and go over the handlebars. I bounced off the car, and then bounced off the freeway with my bike on top of me. Ended up passsiing out and woke up as a paramedic (who was driving behind me) was holding my neck in traction until the squad got there. I was going about 30mph at impact, my helmet, I don't always wear it, saved my skull. the squad rushed me to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with suspected head injuries based on the fact I had lost blacked out, was repeating myself to the paramedic on the squad, and the looks of my helmet. After x-rays and a CT scan they found no broken bones although I do have some road rash and muscle soreness. I couldn't walk on my left leg and that is getting better each day. The right side of the bike sustained the most damage and the insurance company has been great to work with. I should know more in the next two days about whether they will repair it or decide to total it out. No one else got hurt and I am so thankful for that. All in all I am one very blessed man. There is one thing they did find wrong when they did the CT scan. I have some enlarged lymph nodes in my chest area. The doctor gave me a list of things it could be. Or it could be nothing. I will be seeing the doctor next week to see if they want to do a biopsy to determine what is wrong. I have a history of cancer in my family so I do have some concerns. I would appreciate any prayers for that situation. Ride safe!
  7. Go to Overtons.com they have a lot of ragios including one that comes with speakers. Of course the speakers are too large for our bikes but the whole system is only 130.00. The item #PLCD3MR and it has CD and MP3 hook up. Not affiliated, just passing on info.
  8. I had an 05 Nomad and loved it. I traded it in for my Venture because my wife, I and my trailer were just a little much for the Nomad. I have thought about going back to a Nomad at soem point myself. They don't feel near as heavuy as a Venture, are great running bikes and have pretty super handling I think. Besides that, they are a great looking bike for the money.
  9. On the news last night they actually said the two were given speeding tickets. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the whole incident though, because the one officer shut off the mic on the video camera inside the car. That is not standard procedure apparently. The news also went on to say that the highway patrol has given out many tickets to people for speeds in excess of 100mph on Ohio highways. Peopl are sure in a hurry to get where they are going around here. Maybe they should leave home a little earlier.
  10. I drive this section of I-70 on a daily basis. sometimes on my bike and other times iin my car. Look at the amount of traffic that goes by just during this clip. These guys should be held to the same level of accounaability as any of us should. I believe they will pay for their actions. I also think they were hoping to get off scott free or they would have never mentioned anything about their badges in the first place. It's a shame that bikers of any sort think they have to ride this fast on public roads. My wife alos drives this stretch of highway daily and I can't imagine how I would feel if something would happen to her because of a couple hot doggers like these guys. Maybe they were trying to show off, but to me they juist proved their total stupidity. Rant over.
  11. NCReb, Did you paint the trailer yourself, or have someone do it for you? Just asking because my Neosho is due for a new paint job and I was curious about how much it might cost to have it done. Yours looks great by the way. Did you check with Neosho to see about buying chrome rims? they used to have them for sale but I haven't been on their site for a long time.
  12. Did you turn the pumpkin over and allow the oil to come out of the speed sensor hole by any chance? Doesn't really matter, it's the perfect time to change the rear end lubrication anyway.
  13. I live in Pataskala and would be up to meeting you guys sometime and doing some riding together. Sounds like we could have our own Central Ohio meet and greet thing sometime.
  14. So what did they find wrong with it?
  15. I, too, spent some time hanging around with Rex and Rick and I had a blast. It was great to meet you guys and my seat also feels 100% better with your mod. Rick, I had one hip replaced due to arthritis when I was 50 and the other one is beginning to hurt now. I found myself fidgeting around quite a bit when I rode any distance at all. Even though I thought my Venture seat was halfway decent from the factory. But on my way back from maintenance day I was amazed at how much better my hips felt. This morning I rode the 30 some miles into Columbus for work. When I pulled in the lot at work it just popped into my head that I hadn't really even changed my seating position once since leaving my house. Before your mod that couldn't have happened. So now I'll tell people I had you do my seat for medical reasons. I hope to catch up with the two of you again sometime. Until then you guys take care and ride safe. Oh, yeah, watch your back with Rex, you know how he is!
