  1. see attached pdf I provided link for radio shack relay, but is in fact not the one I used- and not sure where I got the one I used but the one I used is rated 12vdc 10a, and radio shack link I provided is 12vdc 1a. Not strong enough contact rating for incandescent bulbs, as all power goes thru this relay contact as well as the ep29 flasher which is rated for 20a. any spdt 12v relay will work if contacts rated at least 10a. I also need to rethink the resistor option, as upon review I propose placing it direct from ep29 to ground, and this would continusly provide the .02a sense current for the ep29, causing the ep29 to flash all the time, although the turns would not flash as they are open at the turn switch. Unnecessary wear on the ep29. I suspect a resistor would not even be required in any pratical install, but if it was required, the value would have to be experimented with at an amount greater than 600 ohms, so that the load of the actual turns plus the value of the resistor would cause .02a load, but the resistor buy itself(turns off) would create less than .02a load (higher resistance). As example: a 1K(1000)ohm resistor would provide a .012a load, and if the turn lights provided at least .008a load, then all would be fine for the ep29, and the resistor would consume .14w, so a 1/4w resistor would work fine with safety margin. 60880.pdf
  2. This is just a reminder for some and a note to our many newer members that this is a PG rated site. Please remember that when you are posting your jokes. Some lately have been borderline. Have fun but please remember the few rules that we have here. PG rated, no racial slurs, etc. You are a GREAT group and this post is not aimed at anyone in particular. Just a general reminder. Thanks
  3. Well, we made it back Saturday afternoon. Ran the Dragon, Moonshiner 28 down into Georgia and the Cherohala Skyway. Went to Clingmans Dome, almost had a heart attack walking up, but worth it once you see the view. Beautiful scenery. Thare aren't any roads like that here in Michigan. Personally, I think the Moonshiner 28 is an under rated road. That thing was very technical. Every bit as much as the dragon. Especially with the trailer on the back! I will definately go back and ride them again.
  4. So with this extremely hot weather we are having here I am in need of a new helmet. My current helmet does not have enough ventilation and my head is overheating trying to ride. Any suggeations on the coolest (temperature rated not appearence) helmet would be appreciated. I am looking for a 3/4 with a flip up clear screen. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Rob

  6. Just wanting to hear from those of you who have replaced your OEM Clarion speakers with NON-Marine rated ones(Polk 4" speakers are Marine rated) I was considering Clarion 4" 2 way coaxials. They are only 22.00 a set on Amazon.com They are made of much better materials than the OEM ones. I like my music loud.....and I will just blow the OEM ones....plus I like the clarity of the tweeters in the Coaxial design. Thank You!
  7. I got my Cavalcade running today and wow - what a ride! I'm impressed in the short distance I've gone. I sent the carbs in to have them rebuilt and then had a horrible time getting the airbox back on. A guy in my church who is rated one of the top mechanics in the nation came to my rescue! Now it is time to put her up for sale. I bought it to make a few bucks!
  8. Looking for advice on buying a new helmet. Must be : Full face Snell rated Best ventilated Under $400
  9. I am always asking questions and getting great advice and tips from everyone on here...thought I would give back (if only a little). I recently spoke (in another thread) about my first longer ride and the use of the headset vs speakers vs earbuds, and how I rated each of them. Just to summarize...I rated these three options on a scale of 10. Speakers .... 4 Headset...... 2 Earbuds....... 8 (maybe even a 9 on a better set of buds) Anyway, in order to utilize the headset with earbuds you need the motorcycle adapter to convert the headset to a mini-plug. The first one I bought I paid over $50.00 for it at a 3rd party location on the net...however I found the actual vendor online and now this adapter can be had for only $24.95. Here is the company URL: http://plugup.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=19 Like I said, using the earbuds is a HUGE improvement sound wise, as well as eliminating the wind and motor noise (got rid of my WHINE ). I know there might be some safety issues with earbuds, that's something you'll have to work out on your own...but for MUCH BETTER SOUND...this is the ONLY way to go. Wally
  10. I am getting ready to get new tires for my RSTD. On my RoadStar, I have had 4 sets of Venom X, 1 Venom R, 2 Metz 880, and the stock tires. I found that I like the venoms more than any other tire for the heavy cruiser. I am looking at the 2 available for the RSTD one is rated "H" and the other rated "V". The H has a heavier load capacity. Do any of you Venom X owners have an opinion as to which tire would be longer lasting & why? Thanks
  11. even the Jokes section is still PG rated...

  13. Just looking around the internet trying to find what cars get the best gas mileage and I see where the Smartcar is rated at 45mpg highway and wonder how a car so small and underpowered can only get 45mpg.. Then I look up the old 1990 Honda Civic CRX HF and is was rated 51mpg highway, I checked Honda's current line up and their best car is the Civic hybrid rated at 47mpg highway. WHAT??!!??! In the 90s we had a small car that got 51mpg highway, whe mid sized cars got around 17mpg highway, now midsize cars get around 27mpg highway and small HYBIRDS only get 47mpg. To add insult to injury, Honda had a hybrid that got 60mpg but they stopped selling it in the US a couple years ago, I have to believe someone got paid off!!!!
