  1. I will be replacing my stator soon. I remember a post or a section with photos and step by step of How to. Can any one help? joe
  2. I am trying to access the 1st Gen tech section and they are locked, cant get in............What gives? All of them are locked. I am going over to K-Riders to help him with his bike and wanted to acess the first gen tech section to look things up. I know most of what I need to do, but may need to fall back on it if needed.
  3. Not for the bike, for my laptop. I am trying to change my browser from Internet Explorer to Chrome and I go thru the steps to load it and it says it is loaded, but it does not appear to be there. It does not show up in my programs section either. I tried to download Foxfire, but it made all kinds of changes to my computer, so I uninstalled it. What am I doing wrong? RandyA
  4. A friend is looking for a Horizontal 1 1/4" type Receiver Hitch for his 1998 Aspencade. Does any have one or know of one please ? Nothing in the Classifieds section. I thought there was a classified section for the Goldwings. Nothing in the other sections besides a Goldwing wheel for sale. Thank you for your help. Fuzzy
  5. Have a 07 RSTD. It has the quick release back rest/lugage rack. Anyone every cut the sissy bar section off? Is it solid or hollow tubing?
  6. hi all .. has anyone have any exprience with a good roadside asst. provider for the northeast (new england mostly) section? I have aaa for the autos but called aaa they told me they do NOT cover mc in new england section. even told them ive had aaa, plus for many years and used it about 3 times and giveing them about 90 bucks a year, all i got was sorrey nothing we can do?? so ill be canceling that but realy want something for the 83 venture as most of riding now is in the dark , deer starting to move, and well i dont want to admit but just getting to old for laying on ground trying to fix things :backinmyday:
  7. A couple of weeks ago, Dingy posted some great 1st. Gen service bulletins. One of the items concerned the bolts that join the right lower section to the main frame. This is the section that you remove to pull the motor. While I was working on the 89 yesterday, I thught of this proceedure and decided to make sure mine were tight. I pulled the right footpeg bracket, and tightend the bolts.....mine were about 1/4-1/3 turn loose. I also checked the forward bolts, and 1 of them was a little loose. BTW, Yammie suggested that they'd be checked every time the bike was in for service. I didn't think the bolts were so loose that they'd cause a problem, but today I noticed that the bike seems to turn a bit better. Thanks Gary!! Frank D.
  8. how many folks on this site have a strat, roadliner, roadstar, or warrior. i was thinking if there are enough of us we could get don to start a tech section for them, like we did on the goldwing, since all four are close to being the same.
  9. Just in case some of you fellow Canadians don't checked out the Rides and Rallies section too often, I have just posted some info there on this year's HHR. Andy
  10. I am going to upgrade my stator soon. I can't seem to find a "how to" in the second gen tech section. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks,
  11. BIG TOM

    Did you

get your trailer raffle tickets yet ? On sale now.............see sticky section above.
  12. Well, I finally got around to checking my valve clearances on Biggal this past weekend. I'd been putting it off all summer and this week I had some vacation time so I used it to catch up on some long overdue preventive maintenance. Many thanks go out to all the discussions on this website and MD 's at Don's the last 2 years, as well as Freebird's posting about getting the carbs off in the Tech section. V7Goose's article article in the Tech section was my main instruction book for doing the valves. I also used your procedure for setting the floats on the carbs. Thanks Goose. Dingy has a very good spreadsheet in the Tech section as well and it came in very handy. Thanks Gary. You made working with metrics a lot easier and keeping up with what's shims are in each location. After changing the coolant, as well as the oil, filter, sparkplugs, tightening the steering head bearings, and syncing the carbs (didn't really need that) she runs like a champ again. I'd say I've got my 12 dollars worth of help and more!! Thanks to everyone again!
  13. Cleaning the windshield today, I noticed one side is very loose (broken mount). Warranty is good until Feb 28, 2012. I know there is a "fix" in the tech section, but will Yamaha do anything about it under warranty?
  14. The auctions are posted and I still have some items to auction to raise more funds for the kids at St. Jude. There are Vogel & St. Jude t-shirts, patches, show your support bracelets, and whatever I can dig up that some may find a need or want for. They are posted in the St. Jude Auction section that Don has set up to replace the classified section. The auctions will last 1 week, and I will accept paypal and personal checks. Hopefully we will be able to outdo the NARR in the fundraising challenge, we have a good start with what was raised at Vogel. Remember the St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial Ride will take place on Oct. 1, 2011. Below is the link to the St. Jude Auction section. St. Jude Fundraisers - VentureRider.Org
  15. Today must be the day for kid braggin'. Things have been busy around here lately. Three of the newest additions to the GGK section. They were all born within 5 months of each other. All the mom's and dad's... plus one aunt... are our Grandkids...

    Ebay links.

I don't really care to see the Ebay/Craigs list post when I search for new posts, but when I go to edit the ignore for new posts section of the CP, the ebay/Craigs list forum is not there to be ignored.
  17. Having searched the tech section, I just want to clarify something. Having greased the splines on the end of the drive shaft I've gone to insert it back in the drive shaft tube. After a little jiggle it went in and i was able to loosly fit the four acorn nuts prior to doing the alignment process as reccommended in the tech section. My question is (probably a dumb one) is, is it possible for the end of this shaft to miss its connnection with the UJ and simply lay in the bottom of the tube? I think its gone in but not sure. Cheers
  18. The dates are set for my 3rd annual mini rally. please check out the dates in the regional rally section and in the calendar section to mark your attendance and join the WNY GANG for a great time......... Hope to see you there:fnd_(16):
  19. I'm seriously considering selling my 02 Goldwing Trike with a MotorTrike kit. I would like to free up some money. It has 25,000 miles. If you are interested just PM me. $19,000 will buy it. I'll put an ad in the classified section tomorrow or Sunday.
  20. I just read the tech section in my October issue of Motorcycle Cruiser. A reader wrote in to ask Mark Zimmerman in the Shop Talk section about a Royal Star that has a whine in the rear end. The reader talked about proper shimming and all of his experience. Mr Zimmerman's response was "I'm not aware of any specific or generic problems with the Royal Star's final drive..... I did a quick internet search and nothing jumped out at me, so if you have info to the contrary please let me know so I can find out what's going on." I emailed him instantly, gave him a list of web sites to investigate , including Venturerider.org, If you have any information for Mr. Zimmerman reguarding a whine in a Royal Star I think he deserves an email at zimmemr@aol.com. Lets see if he can make good on his promise to "find out what's going on."
  21. here's a picture of the lower section of the cabinet that nearly cost me my thumb. Linda won't let me finish the top section yet ( I couldn't if I wanted to ) can't stand to use my thumb yet but I'm having a hard time not turning the saw on

  23. Just thought I let everyone know that there is a section of US Hwy 212 in South Dakota that you might want to avoid. It is between Redfield and Faulkton SD. This section in packed gravel and dirt. The actual length of this section of "road" is 26 miles west of Redfield to the western edge of Redfield. There is no posted detour but google maps does show heading south on US Hwy 281 to SD 26 west and then going north on SD 45. Unfortunately I did take that route so I can attest to how it is, but I can tell you that the section of 212 wasnt fun at all. After getting over it and stopping in Faulkton, a local said it has been that way for a few years now with no completion date stated. I do know there was no construction equipment to be seen anywhere there. The rest of US 212 was a nice drive and well worth the ride if you are either heading out to the Black Hills or back from there. Just want to let you know in case you are planning on that route. Rick F.
  24. looks like the new goldwing tech section is starting to roll. anyone on here that has a wing or is thinking about getting one, check it out. the good info is starting to roll in. eck posted some great info. don't know if i could lay my wing down to change the wheel in the rear, but lots of wing owners do. there's a great movie of a guy doing it in the tech section, thanks to eck.
  25. Here's a bit of an update for those who might remember me. Last year about this time I ruptured a bicep tendon in my left arm at work. Due to surgery and recovery, there was no riding allowed for me. This year I am having trouble with my right shoulder. My family doctor says it was probably caused by compensating for the other arm...the worker's comp people don't see it that way. So, the constant pain in my shoulder coupled with my very patient girlfriend becoming less patient about me being in NY while she is in SC, forces me to make the very difficult decision to sell the Venture. I need to gather info and photos for the classifieds section, but I figured I'd o a quick overview here, mostly to garner sympathy, but also to kind of ease into the process and see who might be interested. This is really killing me, but here goes. 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale, 2 tone blue. not sure of exact mileage, but I will get that info. I put around 6000 trouble free miles on it over the two years I was able to ride it. The left side fairing was banged up by the previous owner and it was missing a side cover when I got it. I have collected most of the replacement pieces, but I have not had the time or money to paint and install them. There are also some Yama-line pieces that i bought as NOS a couple of years ago, I think I have a few more still in the packaging. Whatever I do have will go with the bike. I have no desire to part this out . I promise to have more details properly placed in the classified section in a day or two.
