  5. Hey all my Canadian friends, I have some questions for you folks about Calgary. I work for a company called Tenaris down here in Texas. We have 4 plants and a corporate office in and around Houston. One of our Manager/Supervisors of our weld mill is going to travel up to another one of our facilities in Calgary Alberta. I mentioned to him that I would talk with some of my Canadian friends and get the lowdown about Calgary. If y'all can help me out with good places to eat, or fishing and hunting areas, or just cool places to go and see, I would really appreciate it. I have heard of the Calgary Stampede, I'm not even sure what thats all about other than Rodeo and such. I notice it's July 6th thru the 15th. I'm not sure about what it would take for him to get a Canadian fishing license and if there is any kind of hunting he can do up there during July and August. Give me some ideas here so I can pass it on to him....Thanks
  6. So. I added Oberlin,OH to my weather map saved locations this morning in anticipation of MD. it came up with 34F for today. Is Don going to offer electric oil heaters to the campers? Ice fishing on the pond?
  7. Just saw on Local TV station Seattle, Two guys in a small fishing boat, on the Columbia River ( someplace between Portland Or. and the Pacific Ocean ) were minding there own bussiness, just fishing . ( I assume for salmon ) And guess what ?? A Sea Lion, takes there Bait !!!!!!! Another near by boat, videoed the event, so its apparently On the record book !!! For all you Bull Head fishermen out there, Take heed !!!! Consider the possibilities, of have a Sea Lion, as the " Power Source " for your 12 foot fishing boat !!!! :080402gudl_prv::cool10:
  8. I decided to give Charlie a call on the Land line today to see how he was doing. Turns out not all that great. He is on a lot of meds and has sold his bikes cause I guess his ailment does not allow him to ride very well. But he is still able to go fishing and we had a few chuckles over the phone. He also said to say Hi to everyone.
  9. For those looking for an interesting weekend " ride " and a little fishing !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=-RaFApVP0zU&vq=large I think this fishing resort, is somplace in the southern states, but not sure. I don't have the phone number for reservations, but sombody down around Alabama might have the number ( possibly Georgia )
  10. The local CTV tv station has a fishing show that covers some different types of winter ice fishing in the area around Regina SK. My favourite episode is the best bait for Pike, it was shot about 30 minutes north of town about a week ago. http://regina.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20101209/sask-reg-reel-101209/20120110/?hub=Regina
  11. I ( in error ) decided a long time ago not to do a bucket list. I've changed my mind - after looking around Australia, I've decided that I want to do some fresh water fishing in Australia, then perhaps the next day deep water ocean fishing. What makes this doable is that it only costs just less than $100 US for a 6 hour charter for either. Of course the 27 hour flight could be a pain but that's why someone invented Bud Light.

  13. Does anybody have the I-Pilot on their trolling motor ? I just bought a CoPilot but am seriously considering an I-Pilot for the extra features. Anybody have any experience with one ?
  14. :sign20:This morning got up to go . You know how it is ,You only had 4 hours of sleep, you get ready, jump in the SUV, pick up your friend ,he's in the same condition you are, walk to you favourite fishing hole, drill the holes, 6 inches of ice ,safe enough and still half asleep realizing that your body is sort of freezing ,Your minnow are frozen to the ice. your coffee is frozen and the Kobassa is like a steel bar, winds are 20-25 kph and your cheeks are numb. Call the weather office from the lake its -27c and the windshield factor is -35C Packed up and go home to thaw out Im still thawing out
  15. Now I see why George prefers riding the bike versus fishing! :rotf: These are Bill Dance's classic bloopers! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_BLggf-mqs]YouTube- The best bloopers ever[/ame]
  16. In Northern Ontario or I should say Zone 10 of the Fishing Regulations We are now only allowed 1 larger than 15.7 inches Lake Trout and One under The norm was 3 fish.. this lake I fish in the winter/summer and never caught anything under 24 inches So here you see my partner caught a hat:rotfl:and I caught a 27 inch Lake Trout:thumbsup2: And knowing the members here They'll say its a minnow The thickness of the ice is 38 Inches
  17. Now this how we go ice fishing in Ontario, eh! Ya gotta find them first. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x768VAsOQSw]YouTube- Canadian Ice Fishing Crazy Canucks[/ame]
  18. Okay Frog Man, Family, and I will be heading for the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving week. :cool10:For those that would like to visit us while there. We are staying on Atlantic drive in Rodanthe right next to the Rodanthe fishing pier. Look for a new 3 story green house called Pier Pressure. ADC, you going to come for a visit? Mini, we will be expecting you.
  19. Just wanted to share our 3 day weekend trip (Aug 1 - 3) with ya'll. We left Vancouver around 7:45 AM headed for the Langdale ferry leaving Horseshoe Bay @ 9AM. Being that it was a long weekend, the linup for the ferrys was extremely long but around here, if you're on a scoot, you go past all the cars, campers, motorhomes, etc and get right down front. It's a "first on - first off" for bikers. Met another couple riding an '07 RSMV from Kamloops doing the same trip. The "trip" takes us up the "Sunshine Coast" via 2 ferry rides to Powell River, across the straight on another ferry to Comox, south down Vancouver island via the "old" coast highway to Victoria and from there back to Vancouver. We took a side trip to Saltspring Island to visit with Sailor and his wife. Those not familiar with this route can google it and take a look ... it's one of the best 2 or 3 (or more) days bike trips around here. Lots to see and do and the scenery is amazing. A word of warning tho... make hotel/motel reservations on a long weekend or you may just find yourself riding a lot further than expected (don't ask how I know this LOL). We hooked up with Sailor mid-afternoon Sunday and after a short rest and a drink or 3 at his place, Nina & I headed down to the lake for a refreshing swim (the lake is just down the hill from Sailor's house). Then it was back to his place for more R&R, drinks, story telling, jokes and so on ending with a feast of BBQ ribs, salads, and an amazing chocolate raspberry "OMG this is so good" dessert. (it was raspberry, wasn't it? ... I think I was slightly "overserved" by that time LOL) What a host/hostess he and his wife Janet are! I just can't say enuf good words about them ... truly awesome "real" people! Monday we headed off the island to ride out to Sooke and hook up with my nephew who was out fishing with his daughter and her boyfriend. While at it they set a crab trap and got a good mealful. Plans are to go over there for the long weekend in Sept for more fishing and partying. My nephew is sure in his glory with his new, all aluminum fishing boat. A few pics for ya'll to check out here.... enjoy! http://s393.photobucket.com/albums/pp16/SilvrT/Aug2009LongWeekend/?albumview=slideshow Hope you can access these...
  20. Never been fishing before so when some friends invited us to go to their favorite fish'n place we said "sure why not". So we left yesterday AM and drove the space shuttle (fishing yaught in tow) and stayed over night in North Bay Ontario. This morning we carried on to our final destination, Elk Lake Ontario. This place is even further north than where Charlie (e-fish'n-c) lives. Nice place. Seems to rain a lot and the sceaters are man eaters. Can't sit outside. No TV. Internet is hit and miss. Thank goodness for pretty blonds and satellite radio. If it stops raining tomorrow, I guess the next thing to do is catch minnows in order to catch something bigger???? This should be interesting. Stay tuned.
