  1. So, did santa bring ANY of you ANYTHING for Christmas? I can imagine that most of you were on the naughty list but surely you got SOMETHING. Here is a picture that we took yesterday. Wearing one of many new shirts that my lovely wife got me. She is wearing one pair of the sweats that I bought for her. And YES, they came from the Harley Boutique. And YES, they do sell bikes there also.
  2. I received this from good buddy Ken Derrett aka 1-Up. Hope my family appreciates me now. LOL Dear Family, I’m not dead yet. Thanksgiving is still important to me. If being in my Last Will and Testament is important to you, then you might consider being with me for my favorite holiday. Dinner is at 2:00. Not 2:15. Not 2:05. Two. Arrive late and you get what’s leftover. Last year, that moron Marshall fried a turkey in one of those contraptions and practically burned the deck off the house. This year, the only peanut oil used to make the meal will be from the secret scoop of peanut butter I add to the carrot soup. Jonathan, your last new wife was an idiot. You don’t arrive at someone’s house on Thanksgiving needing to use the oven and the stove. Honest to God I thought you might have learned after two wives – date them longer and save us all the agony of another divorce. Now, the house rules are slightly different this year because I have decided that 47% of you don’t know how to take care of nice things. Paper plates and red Solo cups might be bad for the environment, but I’ll be gone soon and that will be your problem to deal with. House Rules: The University of Texas no longer plays Texas A&M. The television stays off during the meal. The” no cans for kids” rule still exists. We are using 2 liter bottles because your children still open a third can before finishing the first two. Parents can fill a child’s cup when it is empty. All of the cups have names on them and I’ll be paying close attention to refills. Cloe, last year we were at Trudy’s house and I looked the other way when your Jell-O salad showed up. This year, if Jell-O salad comes in the front door it will go right back out the back door with the garbage. Save yourself some time honey. You’ve never been a good cook and you shouldn’t bring something that wiggles more than you. Buy something from the HEB bakery. Grandmothers give grandchildren cookies and candy. That is a fact of life. Your children can eat healthy at your home. At my home, they can eat whatever they like as long as they finish it. I cook with bacon and bacon grease. That’s nothing new. Your being a vegetarian doesn’t change the fact that stuffing without bacon is like egg salad without eggs. Even the green bean casserole has a little bacon grease in it. That’s why it tastes so good. Not eating bacon is just not natural. And as far as being healthy… look at me. I’ve outlived almost everyone I know. Salad at Thanksgiving is a waste of space. I do not like cell phones. Leave them in the car. I do not like video cameras. There will be 32 people here. I am sure you can capture lots of memories without the camera pointed at me. Being a mother means you have to actually pay attention to the kids. I have nice things and I don’t put them away just because company is coming over. Mary, watch your kids and I’ll watch my things. Rhonda, a cat that requires a shot twice a day is a cat that has lived too many lives. I think staying home to care for the cat is your way of letting me know that I have lived too many lives too. I can live with that. Can you? Words mean things. I say what I mean. Let me repeat: You don’t need to bring anything means you don’t need to bring anything. And if I did tell you to bring something, bring it in the quantity I said. Really. This doesn’t have to be difficult. Dominos and cards are better than anything that requires a battery or an on/off switch. That was true when you were kids and it’s true now that you have kids. Showing up for Thanksgiving guarantees presents at Christmas. Not showing up guarantees a card that may or may not be signed. The election is over so I’ll watch what I say and you will do the same. If we all stick to that, we’ll have a good time. If not, I’ll still have a good time but it will be at your expense. In memory of your Grandfather, the back fridge will be filled with beer. Drink until it is gone. I prefer wine anyway. But one from each family needs to be the designated driver. I mean it
  3. here are a few more pic's. I love looking at them because they bring back memories which make me smile or LOL.

  6. It's called Black Death for a reason. The pond Monsters are an urban Legend/Myth A packed umbrella would have been more usefull than the packed harpoon Beware of long heart tugging stories told by Skydoc There was no Strippers tent at MD in spite of what Starbog says. Always take your cold weather gear to MD no matter how hot it was last year and it is held in June. Bring more money next time to Skydoc's table It's great to find a new audience for my old jokes. It's a small world, found new friends who live in Ohio that met and married a mile from my house in Atlanta It was not neccessary to compromise my morals by stealing that roll of toilet paper from the motel the night before after Don posted to bring your own. They had plenty. Beware of Starbog's five dollar footlong. It was not a winner (in my case) Pink is a manly color. Never walk on site with an unopened Dairy Queen sack containing a Butterfinger Blizzard especially if Big Tom is around. If RandyR predicts that we are about to ride into the storm of the century with 70mph wind 3" rain per hour and 2" hail, disregard there is only smooth sailing ahead. Yamma Mama and Moped are just as I imagined them to be over the past few years, and that's a good thing. This event is attended only by old and new friends. Don and Eileen are super people and the most gracious and generous host. But everyone that has ever been to a MD already knew that. Don, Thanks for the good times and great memories I had a great time. It was well worth the long ride and price of admission. I forgot there was no admission price, or was there????????.... Do I owe you any money???????....... Do you take paypal????? Love you man, mean it
  7. I have heard about setting up a relay, I am in the process of making a deal on a bushtec trailer in Las Vegas, I am of course in Illinois was wondering if This could actually work to do a trailer relay. or if someone is headed this direction and would bring it with them!!! it does have the bushtec Hiam hitch so that would be a consideration for whomever would consider doing this.

  12. Well back on July 24 I laid my motorcycle down. Here is a post of the damage. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62041 It was on a Sunday that it happens. With the dealers being closed on Mondays and me living on the south side of Indy I sent email to Dreyer Honda South. I told them I had a Yamaha RSTD and what had happen. Ask them if they could get the parts and fix it for me. I got a call that Tuesday morning from there service manager. He said they would love to do the job that they could get the parts. Well in a few days after that I had the check from the insurance company. I told the service manager that when they had all the parts in there dealer ship to give me a call and I would bring it in. Because I could still ride it and did not want it to be in the shop for a few months. He said Yamaha had all the parts in stock and it would take a few weeks to get them in. Well about two and a half weeks later they call me and said they have all the parts in but the front headlight ring. That if I could bring it in they would get the parts on it. Now they had down that it would take 6.5 hours labor. So I drop the bike off and I ask the service manager when it would be done he said this time next week. I told him I need the bike that next weekend. Well after they had my bike for a week I called them to see if it was going to be ready the guy that answer the phone went to look and came back and told me all the parts are setting next to the bike in the box. Well I said they have not touch it yet. I was not a happy camper. Then I find out they was still missing four parts. Well after me telling them I was not happy with them for having me bring it and saying they had all the parts but the one and plus that we talk about me bring it in when they had all of them and ready to do the job. I got my bike back the next evening with the parts they had in on it. Then the service manager tells me that when the windshield, front headlight ring, and reflector for crash bar for saddlebag was in I could bring it back and they would put it on while I waited. So I get a call yesterday and they said the rest of the stuff was there. Could I bring it in and they would put them on. I said you get them on while I wait today they said no we will have them on by Friday. I said that’s not want I was told the last time I pick the bike up. So I told them I would bring it in today. But that I need the bike Friday because I had a field meet to go to this weekend. Well after we had talk on the phone. I got to thinking they had not done good on their word has far timing. So I went up to their shop and got the rest of the parts and brought them home and put them on myself. I got the parts on in about two hours. Bike is now all done and back looking like it should. So I would have to say I give them a grade of D. The work they did was done right it’s just what they tell you and what really happen is off .
  13. Glad to hear that the Vogel Rally was a success and that everyone made it home safe! Just as an update I would like to let the members know that the NARR group had another fundraiser this weekend and it turned out pretty good as well. We set up a booth at a local car show and sold popcorn, sno-cones and some of the nastiest messiest stuff that has ever been invented......also know as cotton candy! That stuff does not work well when it is 95 degrees and about 85% humidity but it sure does sell! We had a really good turnout and had a net profit of..... oh wait a minute that is supposed to be a secret! We have enjoyed this challenge but in the end the challenge is secondary to what our real goal is and we can't wait to see what these two groups have taken in together for the kids! There were actually two parts to this challenge, one was that the NARR bunch could bring in more money than the Ventureriders and the second one was that NARR could bring more people to St Judes for the tour and to present the donation. I don't know exactly how many folks will be coming from Alabama at this time but I would love to see more people from both groups than ever before.

  17. Dogman and his wonderful wife came visiting recentlhy, and brought some Hot Sex with them. They rode over six hours through rain threatening weather to bring it. We had a great visit and all enjoyed the Hot Sex and after that, we told stories around a campfire. Thanks Dave and Bernie!
  18. I've been wondering lately on what the road conditions over Beartooth Pass would be like for the Rally in Cody. With all the weather they've been getting, and BT always being dicey, I thought it still might be snowed in. Not so. The highway is actually open thanks the the various agencies responsible for road up keep. It might be a tad cold and it would be a good idea to bring your cold weather gear. It even got a little nippy on top in '09. Here's the site for up-to-date reports. BEERTOOTH Looks like it'll dry out by late July. :cody

  22. Our new 86 is a bit tall. Not dangerously tall, Tom is not quite flat footed, but the weight makes it a bit scary if the rider can't stand over the bike and have complete control. Is there a way to bring down the rear of the bike by say 2 inches? Thanks! Ginny in Denver-ish
