  1. Where is the sign up list for this ride, me wants one of those!!!
  2. I guess I should fit, then paint, ( finding out the hard way is sometimes the quickest!! ) With placing the floor boards to fit with cutting a new front mounting hole, is the old hole visible under the foot rests, and would it be best to 'fill' so road grime doesn't get up on the running boards?
  3. How much hacking is required to bring the floor boards to just behind the lower faring? \i've got 2 inches to bring back to fit. Just cut it down and weather strip the back end? Any ideas would be great
  4. I'm looking for something like a 'all inclusive' . I found at 4ucam.com a gps 4.3 or 5" mp3, bluetooth, and video camera all in one. under 300 bucks. mind you it's not a Garmin ( my favorite ) http://www.4ucam.com/GPS-Wireless-Backup-Camera-Monitor-8909PC-Rearview-IR.html#contains The price is right, and to put the camera forward facing at night hmmmm the good part it is a FM transmitter as well NO extra wiring BONUS
  5. I 'had' 21" tall extra wide sheild when i purchased my 02 RSV. I got rid of it with in the first week! I like riding in all weather and found the rain likes to collect in my line of sight. bought an after market from Yamy and cut it down to under 10". I still have the air going over my helmet, and the rain doesn't collect any more, but neither does it hit me dead on. Do the f4's collect as well? and the clearviews?
  6. I had that happen to my front brakes thinking the same thing, warped rotors, but at 300+ greenbacks each, I tried something a bit cheaper. I changed brake fluid and it CURED the warped rotor effect. I think it recommended every couple of years, but for the time it takes and to have good working brakes, i'm will be doing it every season. Hope this might give you at least a bit of help..
  7. Question, does it back fire? If it 's like the choke is on, what color is the exhaust? before and after it starts 'acting up'.
  8. Thanks for the link! I was just looking for something just like this for my ride. I want to change the side LED's that I have now to something a little easier to wire and more visible in the day. But i must say that replacing the stock brake light assembly with that of a road star made a huge difference for brightness. i can light up a building 100 ft away. It's nice at night, no reason cage riders can't see me now!!!!
  9. When I was inquiring about my boys wanting to ride with me, the only requirement outside of gear was, that children of any age can ride as long as they can rest their feet on something. My oldest (12) can reach the boards no prob. But my youngest (8), has to use the top of the hard shells! (Now, i think i should be investing in some chrome scratch guards, lol, there are getting to the painting stage)
  10. I don't have time this summer to lower my RSV, so i did the next best thing! I had to replace the front tire and instead of using the 150/80, I used the 130/90 and notice a difference in the handling and lowering of the front. I lowered the rear last year. What i did notice is I had to jack the air a little in the rear and the bike looks level now. I work in a bike shop in Winnipeg and had to handle a non-lowered Venture, WOW, I'm glad I lowered mine:cool10:
  11. I've found anything under 6psi in the forks makes for rough handling in the corners, whether one up or two up. It feels like a slow speed wobble.
  12. I'm a little late on this one, but, I've used 'Q-Bond' and you don't have any mess like epoxies do! Just lay the powder in the cracks ( making sure the plastic is clean and beveled) drop the glue on the powder, wella, 10 sec repair that is sand-able and paint-able and flexible. Works quick and its inexpensive with little to no mess. I 've repaired side covers and works great as well as those little *%^& tabs that fasten the uppper outside fairing ( RSV riders, you know what i mean LOL)
  13. Riding for 18+ hours a day (at least ), With a max of 2-3 hours sleep, for 25 days..... hmmmm ... I 'm in !!!! (I wonder if this would qualify for 25 Saddlesore 1000's?) If they, ( He would have to have a good Pit Crew ) are able to complete such a task, I'm sure it would be some kind of record.
  14. It sounds alot like the idle mixer jets being a bit dirty (the first 35% roughly of throttle) and it also sound like the main jet emulsification tube( where the diaphram needle sits) [throttle over 35%]. Bad part is, you have to pull them. It's the only way to clean the little tiny holes that get plugged up from sitting or bad fuel and the like.
  15. If you are still having trouble, I've worked on the carbs before, i live a 1/2 hour from Winnipeg, and have some free time, a shop, and the tools, we can rip them out clean em up and give them a good crab sync!!!
