    If I just had to, I could deal with the ignition being keyed different than the trunk and bags. In that case, you can still get by with one key. The keys are double sided. All you need to do is get a new blank and have one side cut for the ignition and the other side cut for the luggage and gas cap. Then just mark it so that you know which side is for the ignition. He is saying that he needs THREE keys though. That is absolutely unacceptable. Either the bike was damaged or there were a combination of parts taken off it and then replaced. Either way, it's just not right and I wouldn't accept it on a new bike.

    I would absolutely not accept that on a new bike. There are two possibilities. The bike was damaged and repaired. If that is the case, they are required by law to disclose the damage. The other possibility is that they stole parts off it to repair another bike and then put new parts on the one that you bought. Either way, you did NOT get a NEW bike as it came from the factory and I would be furious and doing whatever legally possible to get the issue resolved.

    Yea, it may have been fine but I figured I would be better off just ordering the right motor for it. I'm sure I bought it cheaper anyway.

    Sounds like a stuck float. Try tapping on it with the handle of a screwdriver or something and see if that will stop it. If so, add some Seafoam or similar carb cleaner to it...I would add a full can to a full tank of gas.

    Yea, mine seems to be doing very well. This condenser fan is the first problem I've ever had with it. I guess I'm pretty lucky. The system is now about 17 years old though so I figure I had better start budgeting for a new one. This is a heat pump with propane emergency backup heat. I just ordered the new fan and capacitor from a place in Michigan. It should be here on Wednesday. I'll be out of town until next Friday though so hopefully the fan motor will work until then. The local guy never did call me back with a price for the motor. I saw him write it on the service order to "call with price before ordering". He never called so if he went ahead and ordered it anyway, he will have to find another place to use it.

    Well after lubing it up very well, it spins as freely as new now and is working fine. I know that it won't last and will order a new motor today. As for the compressor, this one does have a high pressure cutout on it so it should be fine. In fact, it had a high pressure fault and wouldn't even try to run again until I reset the fault code. So, the house is cool now and it is cycling on and off as it should. Hopefully it will be OK until the new motor and capacitor gets here in a few days. Nobody locally had the motor. It is a bit unusual in that it is 850 RPM and all that was available around here was 1075 RPM. One person told me that the 1075 would work but it would cool the coils too quickly and I might have to add more coolant. I would rather just get the correct motor.

    Well, if I had spent a bit of time on it, I would have easily found the problem. The condenser fan motor is binding up. Apparently the bushings are worn out. The service guy sprayed oil down the shaft and got it freed up a bit. It still won't start unless you give it a spin. Of course they didn't have a motor in stock and are going to have to order one. I'm waiting for him to call me back with a price. I know what I can order one for so if he tries to jack it way up, I'll order one and install it myself. I'm letting it run until the house gets cooled down and then I'm going to pull it off and pull the ends off. Maybe I can clean it up a bit and it will work until a new motor gets here.

    I was sitting in the living room yesterday and noticed that it seemed unusually hot. Looked at my thermostat and it had gotten up to 83 in the house. A/C showed to be running but I looked outside and saw that the fan was not running on the outside unit. So....A/C is down. Did what checks I could do but didn't find the problem. Finally called the repair folks and they are supposed to be here this morning. It did cool off to 81 by this morning. Could have been worse I guess. Temps yesterday were in the 97 range with 50% humidity. Now to see what it is going to cost to fix this thing.

    I do sincerely apologize for the delay. I haven't posted anything about it but we have had some major family issues/illness over the past few weeks. Not me or my wife but a family member very close to us. I haven't even been online too much lately because I've been somewhat buried and somewhat just down in the dumps over it. When I actually have had time to do it, I just haven't had the drive to get into it. I promise to do so soon. I may as well also let folks know that we have had to cancel our trip to Cody. We've felt the need to help this person and it really drew our vacation funds down to pretty much nothing. I'm not complaining, we all do what we have to do and this was simply a case where family took priority. We will miss being there though. Don

    Man...I don't know what to say. I almost want to cry for you. I can only imagine how disappointing this is after you had it looking so fantastic.

    Some do and some don't. Diamond R and Baggershield offer us a members discount. The others contribute a little to the site through a pay per click and purchase setup. I don't think we have any tire vendors who are offering us member discounts. Actually, the exception is Pioneer Motorsports in Buffalo but I'm not sure how their tire prices are.

    I agree with Kent. There is no way you did any harm to the shock at 60 lbs. I've seen people put a lot more than that in there not realizing that the max was 57.

    You said it only held 4.8 gallons? If that is correct then you still had a lot more than .2 gallons left.

    You can turn the CB off but for me, just setting the squelch on 20 takes care of the problem. Might not work if you are in an area with a lot of CB users close by.

    I wish I could get everybody to use the Google search under search. If you click on search, at the very bottom is "GOOGLE SEARCH". Check the box that says venturerider.org and enter your search term. It works GREAT with 3 letters or whatever.

    I have come to the conclusion that grips are pretty much the same as seats in that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next. I bought a set of KuryAkyn ISO grips because I think they look great. I bought them used from Rick Butler. He warned me that he was selling them because they made his hands tingle and fall asleep. So, I bought them and installed them on my '99. I even installed the stock weights. I had the same problem with them as Rick did though. I put them on right before going to Vogel a few years ago and I wasn't 100 miles from home when I started noticing my fingers tingling. My hands bothered me that entire trip. I took them off immediately upon returning home. What works for me is a set of foam covered grips that were offered by Yamaha for the Road Star. They were a little long for the RSV but easily cut down to work. I went back to them after removing the KuryAkyns and all has been good ever since. Unfortunately, I think that Yamaha discontinued the grips that I have. If they ever wear out, I'll be looking for some more that are similar.

    I think it would be great but probably a massive undertaking that would require many hours of programming. If anybody knows of a relatively easy way to do it, I'm listening but to be honest, those sites like WebMD pay professionals BIG money to develop their websites. What you end up seeing is usually the result of many hours of many different people who are well trained in custom programming. What you see HERE is...uh...ME. A self-taught hacker who relies on packaged software that I then do what I can to add a little customization to so that it offers most of the features that we need and/or want. I'm open to what is being suggested but it is most likely beyond my expertise.
