  2. I'm a member at the RoadStarClinic.com and they have a few guys that have successfully installed a hydraulically adjustable shock assembly from a GL1800 (Goldwing). There are a couple of minor mods to make it fit the RS like drilling another hole in a bracket on one end and changing bushings in the other but it works great. Without measurements I can't say it would work on the 2nd Gens but from what I see, it should. I've put 2 links below that go to 2 different threads that should have enough info between the two including the wiring how-to. I also posted a pic of the GL1800 shock and hydraulic actuator after the mods. What I find funny is that they talk about how expensive the GL1800 shock units have become to buy them used on ebay. When I went to look the highest price was $125. Anyway, this is just info in case someone wants to give it a try when their shock takes a dump on them. 3. My "new to me" '03 Wing has Cobra mufflers on it. Just wondering what others are running and what ya'll think about them?
  4. hey Wingers... what brand / part number oil filter are ya'll using on your GL1800 ??
  5. Stolen from gl1800 board.
  6. I'm not saying why I'm curious, but I have a question about the GL1800 models. GL1800 followed by HPNA or HPN or PM or P or something like that, sometimes with a 8 thrown in for good measure. I'm guessing these things are indicating what equipment they are shipped with from the factory. Can anyone tell me what those suffixes mean? Thanks,
  7. Wrecked my 06 RSV and looking at a 03 GL1800 to replace it. I'll miss the RSV but like the lower CG on the Goldwing. Any words of wisdom or recommendations concerning Goldwings in general or a particular model year?
  8. The Upgrade of the Year, or I think so. Bike MP3 has an Upgrade Program for the next 5 to 7 days ONLY. Details are on the web site. http://www.bikemp3.com/GL1800-MP3-Player-Upgrade-Scheme-HGW-MP3-UPG.htm Now for the good or best part. Read paragraph 3 carefully. Did you catch it,, If you have an MP3 Player that plugs into the GL1800 system you qualify to Upgrade to the New V-3 Bike MP3 plug and play system. Yepp if you have a J&M, Ipod Shuffle, or another working player that is working, but you want the functionality of the handlebar controls, here is the opportunity to get it as an Upgrade. And Yes there is one in the works for the Venture
  9. OK GL1800 Gold Wing riders I need your help here!!! Looking at possibly buying a GL1800 from Georgia. This will be a hot shot run there and back and was thinking of riding it back home but since its over 1,300 miles one way it would be hard on Peg driving the P/U that far in a short period of time back home so it looks like I'll be trailering the GW back home I need to know the total length of the GL1800 so I'll know if my trailer is long enough or I need to rent one instead?
  10. For all you Gl1800 Goldwing people I have a really nice heated Corbin Seat that's like new in the classifieds. Check it out: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3153
  11. Lets say you had the cash to get what ever touring bike you wanted what would it be, and why? Would it be a HD ultra, a Victory Vision, GL1800, Kaw Voyager, or a RSV. There seems to be alot of Tourers available now days. I'm not ready to buy just yet, but I seem to keep changing my mind on what my goal is. I used to have a 05 RSV, loved it, but thought I had to have a Harley so I bought an 08 HD ultra which I have since sold. I've put a few miles on a GL 1800 (test drives). Put a leg over a Vision on a show room floor, and have yet to see the Kaw Voyager “in person”. Now, personal I can cross the Vision and Kaw off the list because of the looks. The vision looks like a star fish on wheels, and the Kaw looks like a bunch of aftermarket parts tossed together. That leaves RSV, HD and GL1800. I think the RVS looks the best, but then I think of all that power and sport bike handling of the GL1800. The HD I had was ok, but not as roomy as the RSV not to mention the heat from the air cooled V-twin, not so much for me but it would heat up the wifes right leg, but it's a Harley?? Just when I set my goal for the RSV, I change my mind citing the I-basket problem and that damn tape deck. So then I tell myself ok, my next bike will be a gl 1800, but then I look at the prices and not real sure of the seating position and it kind of has that plain look. I put a list of thinks together that are important to me like Water cooled, comfort, power handeling, gages, looks, repair cost, warranty, durability and reverse gear. I graded the HD, RSV and GL on a points system and the RSV came out just a nose in front of the GL. So I’m sure I will not go back to the HD so that leave me still on the fence RSV or GL. What would you do?
  12. Is is OK if I stick around and harass you good people ???? There just was not room in my stable for three bikes and I just had to buy the 2006 Stratoliner S to go along with the 2006 GL1800 Goldwing... DON'T HATE ME!!!! :crying: I'd still be proud to ride with y'all so please don't forget to holler at me when you come to San Angleo... :smile5:
  13. I have a chance to buy some helmets and cords for a gl1800. Are they the same? And if they are different is there an adapter that will make it fit?
