1. Hello All, Got my96 RS on the road and need to replace the original seat, not comfortable at all. I have been looking at Mustang and Corbin Dual Touring seats and would like some feedback. All will be appreciated.
2. Last Friday was the second happiest day in my boating life - I sold the boat (got what I was asking too)!! Now is the time to do some upgrades. One of the things I am looking at is a better seat. A member has a nice Corbin he has upgraded to the Russell (due to a hip problem the Corbin apparently wasn't as comfortable anymore) and he is offering it up for sale. Before making this change, I would like some input as to the relative comfort for these saddles. I ride long distances (Iron Butt runs and ralleys) and the stock (non-pillow-top) seat is limiting. I use an AirHawk and/or sheepskin and it helps, but not enough for really long rides. Had my seat redone by Rick Butler and that also helped, but again, not enough. Ran 4000 miles in 5 1/2 days earlier this spring and the last day or so was pretty brutal. Tailbone pain is the worst. I am looking to do a 5000 mile / 5 day run this year and I know the current seating arrangement won't hold up. Any input would be helpful. Thanks. RR
3. cant post this in classifieds...dont know why....corbin passenger backrest $125 shipping to be arranged...if buyer gets an Ontario member going to rally I can deliver to them in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario..email for pictures ..was on bike for 2 rides..my wife likes OEM better..thanks Sold
4. Ok, when I purchased my 2003 RSV about 6 weeks ago, the guy stated the previous owner was a female. True or not IDK. The bike came with a Corbin seat, that the guy claims he doesn't know if it fits, but came with the bike so OK. A few days ago I removed the seats and installed the Corbin. Here's the dilemma ( with pics to help): the rear portion of the seat seems too short. The little stem that should slide under the back seat post doesn't seem to reach. I was able to bolt down the front and it didn't seem to move at all. I just don't know enough about the bike or Corbin seats to see if it indeed is the proper seat. The sticker on the back says Corbin VENT-DT and the number next to the barcode reads 2303449. Can anyone help to determine if what I have indeed fits, or I have a $475 paperweight. It looks as if the end of the back seat is a bit further forward or "shorter" then original seat, but I would say not by very much. I am also showing some of the front, to see if thats the normal position. Any and all advice is appreciated. *** I can not seem to add more then one pic*** grrrrrrr
5. I am wondering if anybody who has a a Corbin also has a sheepskin cover? I have been looking but haven't found anything.
6. Have to do a little upholstering to the seat of the MM Venture I just bought from the insurance company here in Iceland. Can anybody by looking at the pictures tell me if this is a Mustang seat, Corbin, Saddleman and so forth. Need to order some upholstery material from the maker of the seat.
7. the choices are , road sofa, corbin, mustang, write in. I need opinons thanks.

I'm Back

Just coming back after being off for a while. Making sure I got things set up right. Got myself a "bike" of my own now. Taking some getting used to, but at least it ain't a cage. It's a 2012 Can Am Spyder. White for now, but will be changing soon. Plus the Corbin seats and backrests are waiting to be installed. Just wanted to say HI Y'ALL!!!!
9. Can someone with a Corbin seat/backrest talk me through how to adjust the backrest fore/aft setting? I bought my RSV with the seat on and haven't figured it out just yet. Thanks in advance, Iz
10. I was on the local CL and posted was a Corbin seat with backrest off a 85 venture! Well I have an 85 venture and have been on the fence about getting a utopia back rest and this deal was about $70.00 more than just the rest. Long story short I contacted him by email and left my number and while I was a church yesterday he called and left his # called back "Just sold it" It was even the right color for my bike. I find the stock seat very comfortable and just want a backrest . In all reality I don't go all that far (yet) and I have a Corbin on my V65 Magna with a sliding backrest that seat was bad to start with. So do the Utopia rest work well ? Can the passenger get on easily . I'm thinking I can live with the stock seat and the color is a perfect match or should I keep hunting for a Corbin? A new Cobin is roughly half of what my bike cost.thanks
11. This has been an issue for me since I purchased the bike in feb of 2011. the seat is just unbearable. I was planning on sending it to Butler to have it modded but the owner before me made some mods to the seat pan. Time has come( Tax return and bonus season) to set my sights on an aftermarket seat that will be comfortable for my wife and I. We dont do extensive trips but we dont want to hurts after 100 miles. I would like to ride 400 and not think twice about riding again the following day. Id liek some pros and cons from those that have Mustang, Corbin, Ultimate and although russel day long doesnt have one currently for the 96 rstc Id still like some feedback as it is now I am turning away from corbin because I have sat on a few and the seat I found very hard, although no soreness. i still would like someting a lil plush.
12. Got my new-to-me Corbin dual touring seat today!! Wooohoooo.... haven't taken a ride with it yet but that will happen very shortly! Found it via Facebook group (Yamaha Royal Star Venture and Tour Deluxe Fans, and Owners). Don't it look purrdy? I'll let ya'll know how it feels later.
13. Looking for a Corbin for 06RSV. Road on one yesterday and loved it.
14. After several hours riding, I find that my butt gets numb and tends to feel sore afterwards for a while. I modified the seat to relieve pressure on the tailbone and that worked fine but still get the "numb butt". So, I happened upon a "like new" Corbin dual touring seat for like 1/2 of the new price .... hopefully that will make a difference but if not, I figgure I could re-sell if for what I paid no problem. 15. the corbin seat company. is for sale,so i decided to buy it. no not the company, a new solo seat for my nomad. i mounted it yesterday. this is my 7th corbin seat. it is ultra comfortable and i haven't broke it in yet. corbin says it takes a couple of thousand miles to form the memory foam, which i have found to be true, from past experience. i have had quite a few custom seats, and i still find corbin to be the best for the long haul. i rate this one a 15 on the 10 scale, for looks and comfort. my wife does'nt like the corbin touring seat on my v-star 1300. i think the rear floor board position may be the problem. i told her you will like it, cuz i'm not buying anymore seats.
16. OK i have the oppurtunity to purchase either a Corbin seat with a drivers back rest or a Mustang Seat with a Drivers Backrest. So my question is this, for me I have ridden a mustang seat on my Virago for ten years, yet I am now moving to a 05 RSTD. So my main concern is passenger comfort. Which seat gives the passenger the best support and comfort? My wife and i a not small people so I really need some insite on this so I make the right decision. Thanks Viragofan Soon to be owner of a 05 RSTD
17. I recently undertook the task of comfortizing the Corbin seat on my new (to me) 2000' RSV. As I mentioned on an earlier thread the "out of the box" Corbin seat just does'nt fit me. My investment was $120.00 and a days work but it was well worth it . I now have an "all day" seat and so does my passenger. I installed Two 5/8" saddleman gel pads into the molded foam and covered them with 1 yard of felt I purchased at Walmart. 3M adhesive spray was used to hold the felt in place while the leather cover was being installed and riveted. As you can see in the pics , I slightly reshaped the seat with a 4" angle grinder and added some dense upholstery foam (white) to the backrest portion of the driver seat to give the seat more low back support. The seat is very comfortable. I now sit slightly lower in the seat. My next project is to lower (cut down) my Show Chrome wind shield about 1 inch and the RSV will be ready for a road trip. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/031.jpg?t=1296763489 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/033.jpg?t=1296763653 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/036.jpg?t=1296763733 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/037.jpg?t=1296763801 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/038.jpg?t=1296763877 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/047.jpg?t=1296763952 GOD BLESS AMERICA " These are the times that try men's souls"
18. Hello everyone in the RSV family. I am a new owner (2000' #374) and a new member. I purchased the bike from an original owner in Deluth MN. I recently flew up to MN and loaded the Bike on a rental truck and trucked it to K.C. Misouri (below the snow line). From there i rode to my hometown of Mobile Al (1025 mi). I loved the ride and the bike. I was not impressed with the Corbin seat however. Some people rave over Corbin seats but I guess they do not fit everyone the same.To each his own. The first thing I did was add a light bar in the front and rear and convert the rear turn signals to stop and tail and turn with a kit from cruiser customizing. Next I installed 1.5 " risers. All was money well spent. The wife and I are planning a ride to California in June so My next project will be the seat. I will either modify the Corbin or purchase a stock seat and modify it . Maybe someone on this foruum would like to work up a trade of some kind ? The second order of business is storage. Has anyone tried one of the 18" x 30" cooler racks from Rivco ? I would rather not trailer with the bike if I do not have to but trailering is not out of the question. The plan is to trailer the bike to Clayton NM. and park the truck there at the KOA ($5.00 per day aint bad). We will ride from Clayton to CO Springs (can't wait to smell the Russian olives) the first day to visit our son at the Air Force Academy. From there we will ride west through CO , Utah,Nevada, and in to Sacramento. We will visit the Redwoods, Pacific coast highway,Napa valley, Lake T. , Death V. and the sequoias. We will take a more southernly route on the return trip. This will be our first two up trip. We did Yellowstone in 08', Grand Canyon in 09', and Big Bend in 10' on My Vtx 1300 and her VSTAR 1100. I look forward to sharing information with the RSV family. Any help that will improve our riding experience will be appreciated. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/007.jpg?t=1294859017
19. To those who have had both the corbin dual tourer seat and the Yamaha pillow top seats....how they compare? I realize seat choice is all kind of/sort of a personal preference.....just wondering how many pillow top users have switched to the corbin and really prefer it that way? gunk:smile5:
20. For all you Gl1800 Goldwing people I have a really nice heated Corbin Seat that's like new in the classifieds. Check it out: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3153
21. Got the Valk Wow!!! these puppies are fast and smooth. My 96 Royal Star is a great bike But!!!! Stole this one 5 k, 23,000 with all the goodies Corbin beetle bags and side covers, Ultimate seats new tires. Anyone thinking about these bikes need to ride one.
22. I like the corbin dual touring seat in the classifieds for a RSV. I think we touched on it before making the RSV seat mount to a RSTD...will the RSV Corbin Dual Touring seat work on a RSTD?
23. I was looking at the Corbin website. It looks like they don't take returns. Interesting.
24. Rick you out did your self on this one. I wanted to wait till I got a few miles on but I love it. Just a little information on this. I got my corbin seat reworked by Rick to help on the comfort level. Corbins are known for being hard and not butt friendly. Last year I sent it back to corbin to get it done with a less dense foam and it helped a little but this year I sent it off to Rick for some magic. He was very concerned when he sent it back to me that I would not be happy mainly because it looked a little puffy. At this time he decided that he would do no more Corbins. Yes it does look a little puffy but by no means bad. Let me say this seat is now great. Rick you did a great job and I hope you continue to fix this butt buster and make them as nice as mine. Scotty
25. Any you guys heard of someone trying to make a Utopia backrest fit in the Corbin dual tour?
