  1. Because proposed E-15 expanded use may adversely affect small engine performance, like lawn & garden equipment, motorcycles, scooters, ATV's, etc., and will void warranties, the brilliant folks at the EPA have come up with a solution - - limit the purchase of E-15 at the pump to a minimum of 4 gallons! Like all motorcycles have gas tanks smaller than 4 gallons, or like all landscape contractors only fill their equipment in the morning and don't carry multiple 5 gallon gas cans that get refilled each day! And like all grades of gas have their own separate hoses at the pump so that residual E-15 won't find its way into the wrong engine! These people must be on crack. http://www.jsonline.com/business/4gallon-gas-rule-sparks-debate-b86tmno-170272246.html
  2. Being that I do not think I'll be able to find a set of those nice highly polished cylinder side covers that were on the rear set of cylinders on my 91 VR (Took them off my 89 Front Cylinders). Is there any one with the skill and equipment be willing to provide an insurance estimate for me. Thank You
  3. Ok, so my intercom headsets have gone off to electronics heaven. I've looked at replacing them and the cost involved (dang the dealer is proud of these things) and have found them on places like ebay for not too bad a price but I'm starting to wonder if something like the Scala Rider blue tooth units would be a better way to go. I like the idea of having all original equipment but also hate to pay to get all new headsets and have another issue with with the audio system that puts me back to a non-functioning intercom. Seems like the Scala Rider may be the way to go but I've never used one and I'm still not sure about moving away from original equip as my 86 1st gen is beautiful and has otherwise all working equipment. Any thoughts? Ideas? Opinions? Thanks! Jay
  4. Hello everyone. Just a quick question, has anyone here had any experience with ARC Audio equipment? There 125.2 mini amp and the 5.25 or 6.6 speakers? Or any suggestions on others. I am looking at upgrading the sound system in my fairing. Thanks in advance all
  5. I'm not saying why I'm curious, but I have a question about the GL1800 models. GL1800 followed by HPNA or HPN or PM or P or something like that, sometimes with a 8 thrown in for good measure. I'm guessing these things are indicating what equipment they are shipped with from the factory. Can anyone tell me what those suffixes mean? Thanks,
  6. Looking for the headsets and lower cables for 92 venture trying to keep all the original equipment on the bike that i can,
  7. I'm terrible at electrical work, but luckily I found someone that is very good and reasonable in KC. I don't have to do the work, but I need to select the equipment. 1) Rear lights. I have a 2000 MM with the standard back lights. I want more light. I just have the single red light in the back. Can anyone tell me what equipment I might buy for the back that would give me more riding lights and fit solidly on our Gen 2? Pictures would be great. 2) I read a lot of discussion about LED's on the front light and radio static. I would like to have better light on the head light and the riding lights. What is the bottom line on upgrading lights? I want dependabilty and good lights. I have just removed all my LED's from the blinkers because the cancelers didn't work and that seemed a lot more dangerous than the benifit of more light on a blinker. Thanks for the help. Again, I don't need wiring directon just equipment and bottom line reccomendations.
  8. Its been a wet year here and very cool. this mess started off with a guy getting his farm equipment stuck in a field about 2 hours north of here. They brought in tractors to pull him out and it looks like things snoballed from there. I gotta think the backhoe guys didnt have a sniff at what they were doing. Brian
  9. I've discovered an essential piece of equipment that I'll be carrying on my trips from now on....and of course I'll only use it when the bike is parked for the night...... javascript:; gunk:thumbsup2:
  10. I wear a half helmet and I would like to use the CB on my bike. What are my options for microphones? If I also want to use the intercom with my passenger, what equipment do I need? She wears a half helmet too. Thanks in advance!!!!!
  11. Fwd: This video is really interesting, you can understand what is going on even if you don't understand German. There are three major construction equipment shows in the world: 1) CONEXPO in Las Vegas 2) BAUMA in Munich and 3) Intermat in Paris (There may be a new name for this one now, but it is still held in Paris). They alternate every third year in each city. This year the show is in Munich. The Europeans are famous for putting on crowd-pleasing stunts such as this one. Generally they are a little more subdued in Las Vegas, probably because of higher risk of lawsuits. The stunts are well designed to be safe, but there is always the possibility that a hydraulic component could break, or something unforeseen could happen., which could result in a terrible accident. So you think you can drive a piece of heavy equipment. You Engineers watch it all the way. This is from an Austrian TV " reality " show called " Wetten Dass "(I'll bet you that . . . ) looks like this was done in front of the Vienna City Hall. PL What a commercial for this company!! Wonder how he got down!! This guy is certified! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RobaJKGMMiE]YouTube- Liebherr[/ame]
  12. I purchased the Stebel air Horn mount and wiring from Carbon-one on this site and I received today in the mail. I got to tell you, Carbon-one does and Xcellent job with the wiring harness and the mount! They look better than professional. The mount is chrome and looks great! The wiring harness is just perfect in design and I just couldn't believe how well it all looks for just $27.00! If you don't have this equipment, you should get. It is the Bomb! Thanks Carbon-one! First class equipment for my baby! Mark:bowdown:

  15. I read an interesting article in Smithsonian Magazine this month: Presence of Mind: Buckle Up. And Behave http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/Presence-of-Mind-Buckle-Up-And-Behave.html The article ostensible deals with the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the three-point seat belt but then goes on to discuss the human behavior of risk taking. "Now researchers are positing a risk compensation corollary: humans don't merely tolerate risk they seek it; each of us has an innate tolerance level of risk, and in any given situation we will act to reduce - or increase - the perceived risk, depending on that level." As I read the article I was thinking of several implications. As more safety equipment is added to cars does it make the roads more dangerous for bikers? Do bikers who wear helmets and other safety equipment ride less safely because they compensate for the improved odds of survival? If so, does that mean that we are safer if we wear less safety equipment and carried no personal liability or physical damage insurance? Interesting Iowa Guy
  16. I have 2006 Midnight Venture with a broken CB Antenna, is there anywhere I can get a replacement antenna besides the dealer, they want $180.00 for a replacement. I don't use the CB, however I may want to sell the bike, and the original equipment antenna would be needed. Thanks
  17. I'm in the market for a motorcycle lift table. Anyone know where the best deal is? Any used ones? Any bike shops closing and selling equipment??
  18. As a serious CT prospect, I encountered this on Dunlop's website. I was actually looking for real tech info for a friends question why he could not run "front" tire on rear and vice versa. So, do any of your guys have the equipment and a spare rim to actually measure a 15" motorcycle rim and a 15" car rim and report? I think equipment to measure thousandth would be in order. Here is the quote from Dunlop's site: For 15-inch motorcycle replacement tires, never mount on a 15-inch diameter passenger car tire rim. Mount only on a 15 M/C motorcycle rim. These passenger car and motorcycle rims actually differ in diameter. This statement is on this page: http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/infocenter_tiretips.asp?id=27#tip
  19. With my scuba lessons. My wife and I both decided to buy some new snorkle equipment. Next thing I know we were both signed up for open water scuba certification lessons. You guys just thought a Harley was expensive - start buying scuba equipment. Anyway, we finished our confined water and classroom instructon a couple of weeks ago and completed our forth and final open water dive today. We are both certified not as open water divers! Let the adventure begin!
  20. As a seasoned professional truck driver, I've seen and welcomed the arrival of LED running and tail lights on our equipment. I immediately noticed that they are much easier to see, even if the lense is dirty. So, I got to wondering if I couldn't swap out some of the running lights on my VR with some of these LED running lights. The only drawback I've seen so far is that the LED truck running lights aren't as stylish as the original equipment, but they ought to be easily more visible. I've got one light mounted, but haven't tested it yet due to fears that I may put too much of a strain on my stator. Have any of you good folks experimented with this? Have you tried replacing this? http://i32.tinypic.com/2vv9ge0.png With this? http://i27.tinypic.com/m8gok2.jpg

  23. I have no problems with either service. When you live in the country no cable available it's either satellite tv or nothing. We had direct for a few years and switched to dish to get a discount package and new equipment. Now after 3 years with dish I'm thinking about switching back to direct for new equipment and a package discount for another year. I have no problem with a 18 month contract. My real question is HD receivers and $10 a month for HD service worth it. I can upgrade to direct with a free HD receiver. I could always call dish and negotiate with them to keep my business.Rumour has it dish is asking for a rate increase in Feburary.
  24. Hey all from the Vancouver / lower mainland area of BC... I'm looking for someone who has the facilites and/or equipment and/or experience to paint my 87 VR. I have a garage but don't have the appropriate compressor or spray gun. I also have the experience, having had a body shop many years ago. I want to paint my ride using 2-stage paint (base coat / clear coat). Is there anyone in my area that has his/her own equipment and/or facility who would be interested in either doing this job for me or allowing me to use/rent their equipment. I have all the plastic pieces off the bike and prepped. Just need to get them painted. The weather is gonna turn warm and sunny soon and I'm gettin itchy to ride.
