  1. Anyone have any good ideas, or something in mind ? Myself and friend JD Holbrooks are looking forward to our Spring ride we are trying to plan. Coming from Morehead,KY South West toward Arkansas. We want to see the Ozark Mountains and Arkansas. Planning on a week to ride, leaving Saturday,May 18 to be back on Saturday,May 24. We usually take the hammer roads (interstates) until we reach the main destination, then back roads and enjoy the scenery for as long as possible. Wonder what the weather will be like during May in the mountains there ? Looks like I-64 to Lexington then Bluegrass PK Way to I-65 to I-40 west then over into Arkansas ? I suppose that would be a good start to see the mountains ? We never plan on to much, other than the first night stay and kinda go from there. If you have any links or roads and maps, please feel free to post or send them. I would appreciate any and all help. Happy New Year, Fuzzy :usa:
  2. Is anyone going to this for 2012? I still have 2.5 weeks oif vacation and I am thinking about attending but would like to have company. It looks like this is a very large gathering and there would be some great rides out of the area as well as a number of events to participate in. Would welcome sharing a room in the area and perpahs a ride along on the way up from Houston area. I will probably head from Houston on Wednesday and stop just over the OK line for a night at the casino then head to Fayetteville thrusday morning and stay until Sunday morning. Anyone in Texas going? Anyone intrested in Meeting etc just let me know and we'll share numbers etc. I found a reltatively inexpensive room in Rogers Arkansas 10 miles frm Fayetteville as Fayetteville seems sold out already and would be willing to share with someone who needs a room. LEt me know and we'll get things going Link to event. http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/ James
  3. Following state website has several rides that are good. http://www.arkansas.com/outdoors/motorcycling/hot-spots/
  4. I have a 2005 Venture with 8500 miles and plan on taking it to the dealers for a service. I have changed the oil and brake fluid. The bike runs ok but of course you get used to things and don't notice little problems. What should I have the dealer look at or service ? Thank you in advance Cb Mountain Home Arkansas.
  5. Well we made it to Arkansas dodging rain, hail, and tornado's on the way down last weekend. We arrived to our cabin to find out that the owner had no idea what a touring motorcycle was. Our cabin was straight up the side of the hill. It was wet and we were pulling trailers. Very challenging to get there and I emailed them and told them to tell others that it was not safe for bikes. Other than that we had a great time and the cabin was wonderful and secluded. We rode about 1500 miles around Arkansas and enjoyed every road we were on (except the cabin hill climb). Weather was wonderful and sunny. Left Marshall Arkansas Saturday morning around 9:30 am and arrived home at 9:30 pm. It was a long day, rode a little over 600 miles and it was cold later in the day. Some pictures below
  6. We will be having our 4th annual garage sale and expo on the ASU Searcy campus on Saturday April 21 and I would love to see all you guys come out. We are having a bike show with 3 classes, antique, foreign, and american bikes. The antique bikes must crank and run. 1st-3rd trophies will be awarded in each class and 1 overall best of show. There will also be a car show sponsored by the Civitan Club of Searcy. There will be free spaces if anyone would like to come sell their wares during the show. There will be a 15.00 entry fee that benefits The Skills USA student organization. I am looking forward to making this the best bike show in Arkansas... 7. Just booked this place down by Marshall Arkansas for a week the middle of April. Going down with my wife and another couple from this board (Bryan52577 and Lisa). Going riding as mush as we can and just enjoy the peice and quiet in the evenings around the camp fire. may even have a beer or 3. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.156002567793599.33147.155954591131730&type=3
  8. For those that read every post, you'll remember that I got STUCK up in Custer, SD last weekend because I was having issues with my 2009 Venture. The rear wheel was "creaking" or "clicking" when the bike was in motion. I got several great responses here and some from friends regarding the possibilities of what could be going on back there. In the end (no pun intended), I decided NOT to chance it and called my brother in Arkansas to come after me with the trailer (only 2nd time this bike was ever trailered)...so 20 hours later...he shows up in Custer, SD. He got there at 2am on Saturday morning and we set the alarm for 530am to leave back for Arkansas for another 18 hour drive back home. Once I got home I took my bike (not to the stealer), but to my regular bike mechanic who is also the one that put on a new set of tires the month prior to my trip to South Dakota. Here's what I found out (remember I am not the most mechanically inclined person)...but evidently Yamaha sets their rear ends up differently than other bike manufacturers and their "alignment" process of the rear wheel appears to be "sloppier" than it should be. My mechanic kept saying he didn't know why they didn't use "dowels" to help in aligning the rear wheel (by the way, that's all greek to me). Anyway, he stated there is even a technical bulletin (see link or attachment below) that explains the problem and gives a solution. My mechanic also told me that his contact at one of the larger Yamaha Dealers in Arkansas told him they have even seen (heard) of this "creaking" on brand new bikes and also bikes that have never had a rear tire change. I am posting this so that others that may or may not have this problem can find it easily. I hope this helps someone else. Here is the link to the bulletin. http://www.arkansasbiker.net/Service_Info.pdf Wally

  12. Here's a couple of shots of our Supermoon in Arkansas tonight (March 19, 2011).
  13. Planning on riding the bike to Illinois next week (14 - 22). Hoping the weather will hold...being a Texan, not really use to cold weather (yeah, I know...pantywaste). Going through Oklahoma and Missiouri on the way up...Arkansas on the way back. If you see a blue and black...flash your lights!
  14. i am going to put on a meet at the hub in arkansas. i just talked to randall at the hub and he said these dates were open with no other big events scheduled. july 29th, 30th, and 31st. randall has the meet dates on record. now if i can get vacation for that week which i should know by tomorrow, these dates will be written in stone, and folks that want to attend can start making reservations. i will have that information posted. hope this works out cuz i'm really looking forward to it. we had such a good time at the international at the hub last year, that this will probably be my annual arkansas event instead of my st. charles meet and eat, as long as i can still do it. bill :clap2:
  15. Monday, four of us from Biker Church of the Heartland are riding from Plymouth, Indiana to Salem Missouri, then Hatfield Arkansas, riding some roads there, back to Salem Thursday, and then back to Plymouth on Friday. Hope the weather gives us a blessing and not rain. Two Gold wings, One Yamaha Stratoliner and my '07 RSV.
  16. Is there anyone from Arkansas going to Don's Maintenance day and would like some company?
  17. Anybody here riding in Mountain Home, Arkansas ? Cb
  18. Yall might enjoy this...me and a buddy rode over to Arkansas for the Bikes Blues and BBQ Rally in Fayetteville AR. Had a great time, and got some of it on video. I'm riding my 2007 Midnight Venture, and pulling my little Tag-Along Trailer in the second part of the video. If you click on the lower right YouTube logo, you can see it in a larger format than here on this page. I call this video, simply: Riding. Enjoy! 19. WOW...going to court in Arkansas can be a real Pain in the A**!! http://nwaonline.net/articles/2009/09/03/news/090409arshotincourt.txt How can a system get so corrupted???
  20. Got some more pics posted to photobucket. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Hub%20last%20day%20and%20ride%20home/ Had a great time, can't wait to go again. Arkansas has got to be the best overall riding in the country.
  21. We headed for Arkansas later yesterday. Taking a LONG route and staying off all the superslabs. My route added a hundred miles or so to the trip but that's OK, much more pleasant ride. We only did about 275 miles yesterday and spent the night here in Kokomo, IN last night. We are getting ready to head out again and will probably only do about 350 miles today, again staying on the slower backroads, state highways, etc. Will probably end up somewhere around Quincy, IL tonight. Sunday we will do another 300-350 miles and that will put us down around the Arkansas border and only an hour or two from the Hub so we will probably pull in sometime around mid day on Monday. Just taking it easy and enjoying the ride.
  22. I gotta ask it cause I am a firm believer that the only stupid question is the one not asked! Now before we point the bikes south it may be a real good idea to know exactly where in Arkansas we are going! What city do I punch into the GPS? BlackOwl....you can stop laughing now, you're scaring the dog!
  23. Jude just started a new job so we won't be able to make it to the Meet this year in Arkansas. I had reserved a king room at the Hub. Anybody wanting it PM me and we can switch it to your name.
  24. Hey guys! I need a memory jogger, what is the E1 all about? I remember something about the control mod, where is it located? Thankx Gary C Arkansas
