Well, your bike is different than the RSV so maybe re-jetting would help. I just can't say for sure. On my RSV, I've run several different kinds of mufflers, including Khromewerks and never felt that it needed to be re-jetted. That being said, here is a very well done article on re-jetting the RSV carbs. It is probably similar for your bike. Note though that when it was all said and done, he ended up going back to the stock jets. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=502

Well, hmmmmmmmmmm, I've met you and just have to say... You are NOT like everybody else. Hope you don't find that offensive.

Not me....my motto is: No Pain, No Pain and unfortunately....it shows.... My wife and I did buy new bicycles a couple of years ago and really enjoyed riding them....uh...back then. I THINK they are still out in the storage shed now.

I too have shipped to Canada many times. I have had one or two instances where they never received the package. In those cases, it was only a couple of patches or decals and I just sent them out again. Not a lot of money involved. I've had the same thing happen once or twice shipping with the USA also. If I was selling higher priced items, it would have been a bit bigger deal.

I actually ran across this when I was looking at the link to some passenger pegs that myminpins posted. The do not list an application for the RSV but they list if for some other Yamaha models so maybe it would be a possibility. Not CHEAP at $749.00 but interesting. http://www.bikerbrackets.com/bbaldesc.htm

I guess in this case it boils down to what you consider "discussion". If you go back and read the first post of this thread, I think I addressed this issue. Maybe I just need to change the work "discussion" in the link that you posted to "debate" and that would make it a bit more clear. If somebody here is posting messages trying to convince another member to join their faith, that would be prohibited. If people are debating whether or not there is or is not a God, that would be prohibited. If people were debating on the validity of one religion as opposed to another, that would be prohibited. That would be a true discussion or debate. When I see that somebody is hurt or in a bad way and somebody finishes their post with a simple, "we'll keep you in our prayers"...that is just expressing a word of kindness, hope, spiritual help. It is NOT a discussion. It is a comment that doesn't require a response or answer. Folks, if you are offended by such comments, I am truly sorry that you feel that way. I mean that sincerely. I wish that nothing would ever be said here that a single one of you would find offensive. I know from several years of running this site though and another before this one that regardless of as many rules and regulations we could possibly establish, somebody is going to get offended over something. I have received a ton of emails and private messages over this issue not only recently but over the past few years and I can say without any doubt that the VAST majority of our members have no problem with the way this is handled. There are probably less than half a dozen members here who have mentioned even being remotely offended by somebody offering a simple prayer. I am truly sorry that even a single person is unhappy with this but I can tell you that it is not likely to change. I hope that it is something that those few who don't like it can overlook and just concentrate on those things here that they DO enjoy. If you absolutely can't do that though, just send me a PM or an email and I'll refund your dues in full. I don't want you to feel that way but this site is supposed to be enjoyable and if you come here and find something that makes you angry all the time, why the heck would you pay to be made to feel that way? I don't know how to put it any more clearly. I wish I had the ability to please all the people all the time but I have no illusions that it will ever happen.

Well, after being without a bike for about 3 years, I decided that I wanted to get back into riding. The first thing I bought was a '95 Honda Shadow Ace. I really liked it but it was only about 3 or 4 months before I realized that I wanted a touring bike. So I kept the Shadow and added an '88 Venture Royale to the stable. The '88 was a great bike but I am one of those who just never felt comfortable on the first gen Ventures. Something about my long legs and the feet under position just didn't work for me. So, I started looking around in late '98 or very early '99 and ended up buying a like new '86 Harley FXRD. I really liked that bike and never had a moment of trouble out of it. The one thing that I didn't like though was that the FXRD was only made for that ONE year. It was called the "Grand Touring Edition" and if you think that aftermarket accessories are difficult to find for the Venture, you should try finding things for that bike. So, I decided that I wanted something a bit newer and with more accessories available. When I first saw the RSV when it was introduced in '99, I pretty much fell in love with it. After buying 3 bikes in about a year though, I wanted to be sure before buying a brand new bike. I went and rode the Valk Interstate. Liked it a lot but the sitting position still didn't make me completely happy and it didn't come with CB, radio, etc. I then went to look at new Harleys. I really did like the Ultra Classics but '99 was NOT a good year to buy a Harley. Now at that time, I was doing well with my company and though I wasn't rich, money was not an object. I was prepared to pay whatever I needed to in order to get the bike that I wanted. The problem was, Harley dealers were doing very well at the time and not only were there not many new Ultras available but the dealers in Dallas, TX had a real attitude about it. The first dealer that I visited was a large one with a lot of bikes on the showroom floor. Only a couple of Ultras though. A big sign beside them said "these are not your bikes, don't sit on them". I walked around that showroom and looked at different bikes for about 45 minutes and was never approached by an employee. I left. The second HD dealer that I visited had NO new bikes. He had NO used Ultra Classics. He had ONE nearly new Road King and it really did look nice. The owner of this dealership was sitting at a desk. Leaned back with his feet on the desk and reading a newspaper. He never spoke to me or even acknowledged that I was there in spite of only being about 15 feet away from the bike. I finally walked over and asked "what can you tell me about the Road King". He never took his eyes off his newspaper but just responded "$24,000.00 and if you don't want it, the next person who walks in will". I left. So, I went and looked at the RSV and liked it better than anything else I had looked at or ridden. I did some shopping and bought it in April or May of 1999. It has been and still is the most comfortable bike that I've ever owned. Once in a while I get the urge to have something different but this one is paid for and I don't have the money for such things as I had back in 1999 so I guess I'll just keep it. I've never regretted my decision. I can tell you this though. Times have changed. The Harley dealers that I have visited over the past few years aren't nearly as arrogant as they were back then. Sales are down and they have plenty of inventory and I also think that they have been better trained. I am typically greeted in a very courteous manner now when I go into a Harley dealership and find them very helpful. I wish that the Yamaha dealers would take some cues from them because now it seems to be the opposite at to many metric dealers. I am amazed at the lack of customer service at so many of them. NOT ALL. There are some good ones out there but they are way too few and far between.

That is a good part number. I ordered mine from boats.net. Search works GREAT. I'll say it again, you just have to use the google option in the drop down menu and check the "venturerider.org" button.

Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights

Or you can change to the bar ends that KuryAkyn makes specifically for their grips. -
You are making it much more difficult than it is. The liner is not stuck down. It is just laying in the bottom of the trunk. You lift it out, remove 4 screws, slide the trunk back until it matches up with the other set of holes, put the screws back in. There is honestly nothing to it.

That's really a cool little trailer but I didn't see a price. I also looked at some of their other trailers. They make some nice stuff.

Now I know why it costs so much..

Do you even need a program? I know that all the cameras come with various software but I never use it. I just plug the camera into my computer and it shows up as an external hard drive. I just copy the pictures and paste them into a folder on my hard drive. I seldom care for the software that they come with and don't even have any of it installed. -
The fact is, they can't be renewed at this time. I posted recently that I was having some problems with ads getting marked sold for no apparent reason. For that reason, the classifieds have been moved to the forum and I have asked that everybody move their ads here. I have created an entire new section just for that purpose. One note though. The disadvantage of moving them to the forum is that there will no longer be an option to renew an ad. That feature is just not possible to implement at this time. It will be up to the sellers to re-post their ads once they expire. Expiration is set at 60 days except for our member vendors who have multiple items. In the near future, I will be completely removing the old classified section. I am just giving people time to post their items in the new forum area.

Great pictures. Sure makes me want to get back up there someday. Looks like you had a great time as usual.

OK....I think I can do something like that. Actually...I think I just did it. You will now see a small globe by the location. Just click on it.

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
Freebird replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Prayers are certainly on the way. I've been busy at a trade show in Long Beach, CA all day and just got back to my hotel and saw this news. It truly breaks my heart. Ponch is absolutely one of the finest person that I know. He is always the first to offer help and lend a hand to anybody who may need it. I will be praying for him constantly and sure want to know if there is anything else that we can do. -
I seriously doubt that running the hotter plug would hurt anything and I have done so in the past on older engines with a lot of miles. Especially if they were using a bit of oil and/or fouling the original plugs. Still though, I would feel better sticking with the correct plugs. Rocket is riding an '83 and we are talking about a '99 here. Probably makes no difference but still not the exact same thing.
-
They will be hotter plugs. The lower number is hotter. I don't know but I just don't think I would use them.

Hopefully somebody else will jump in here to verify but as far as I know, the GMRS radios will communicate ONLY with others who are using the GMRS radios. I don't think they will communicate with a CB on any channel.

Yea, they really are easy to make. I have changed mine out to raise the rear of the bike but I think I want to hold on to the originals just in case I someday sell it and the new owner wants to put it back to stock.

Then I apparently don't understand your question. Not sure what you are talking about.
