    Gun Club

I know this is off the subject of bikes but since guns seem to come up here frequently I just thought I would post this. Please do not feel obligated, it is our battle but your e-mail would help. On Saltspring we have a Rod and Gun club. A developer has bought the property next door and is trying to have the club shut down. We have been blindsided by the local ruling body ( the Capitol Regional District) in that they are about to pass bylaws which would basically shut down our club so the developer can make himself richer. They are doing this without any consultation with the club or the community. We got notice yesterday ( Monday, Sept 17 ) that they were going to consider this bylaw on Wed Sept 19. This leaves us little time to respond. If you feel like helping e-mail your opinion to the following people. directorjdf@crd.bc.ca directorsgi@crd.bc.ca directorssi@crd.bc.ca ssirodandgun@gmail.com Thanks ...Sailor aka Rainman aka Kerry Butler
  2. Six weeks ago I ordered a new toilet on e-bay for our motorhome from T & S RV Parts for $155, and haven't received it. It was paid for from PayPal, using our bank account. I had followed up with several e-mail messages to T & S with no response. I also filed a dispute with e-bay's resolution center and still no results. Today, I called PayPal, which is close here in Omaha, and almost immediately I got an e-mail stating that a full refund has been deposited into my PayPal account. I think that is a terrific jesture and response on the part of Paypal. I've re-ordered from another vendor and also found the same unit for $140. I'm a happy camper now! PayPal has my vote! (About made a nervous wreck out of me though!) Owen.
  3. Just want some information about the rad you gave me to deliver. Do you have e-mail address of the guy who wants the rad? You said you were Taz on website but which one?
  4. I stayed at the Days Inn in Martin, Tn while at B2Dads M+E. When I walked in and registered, I was handed a paper bag. In it were a bottle of water, a coke, crackers and chips. Very nice of them to do that for us. A few days after I got home, I received an e-mail which contained a survey about my stay. I filled it out. A few days later, I received an e-mail from Prof Mani thanking me for filling out the survey. The other day, I got a card in the mail. It was a hand written note from Prof and Kay thanking me for staying there. It is rare thing today, when a business manager takes the time to thank people. My hat is off to them, and I will stay there again next year....
  5. What its worth department After doing a lot of reading/research, I decided to order a Canon T2i DSLR Camera. The average price I found for the camera with the normal Canon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is $580. (amazon) USA Warranty...Free Shipping. I ran across certifieddigital.com that listed the camera for $449.99(as above). certifieddigital.com is a waste of time....total BS! Placed order via website....got an e-mail requesting I call. After 25 minutes of refusing to buy extra batteries and etc. they told me insurance was $75..........Order Cancelled!!!!
  6. Ok folks last week my pc crashed and I had to replace it with a new tower. I had a Outlook 2003 program on it for my e-mails. Due to replacing the pc tower I had to upgrade to Outlook 2010. (no cd disc for the Outlook 2003 program). So now I'm starting back to 0 on my contact list. If you want me to have your e-mail ady then send me a short note with your address and I'll put ya in my address book. Here's my address -- lskeels@wowway.com Same one that's in my profile info here at VR. Thanks, Larry
  7. On Oct. 29th I ordered some parts online and waited and waited. Their add said 6 to 10 bussiness days for shipping. After waiting for 18 days and no parts I sent them an e-mail and the reply I got was to check the terms and conditions. Well I sent e-mail #2 and reminded them what their terms and conditions read. Got back same reply. I tried calling them but the # that is on the add is one that you have to have a code to dial to talk to a human. Which they don't give out in their add. So I decided to look on google earth to see if there was something that they were hiding. Sure enough, they were a dealership and they had a different phone number on the add that is online for the store. I gave it a try and actually got an answer. It was the sales desk and they did some checking and found that my parts were there and should have been sent to me over a week ago. The guy told me that the parts mgr wasn't there but would have him call me back the next day. No phone call. But, I got an e-mail last night stating that my parts would be shipped on Monday 2 day air. If not for google earth I would still be trying to figure out which headhunter (er... Venturerider) to send after them.

  10. An unemployed man is desperate to support his family of a wife and three kids. He applies for a janitor's job at a large firm and easily passes an aptitude test. The human resources manager tells him, 'You will be hired at minimum wage of $5.35 an hour. Let me have your e-mail address so that we can get you in the loop. Our system will automatically e-mail you all the forms and advise you when to start and where to report on your first day.' Taken aback, the man protests that he is poor and has neither a computer nor an e-mail address. To this the manager replies, 'You must understand that to a company like ours that means that you virtually do not exist. Without an e-mail address you can hardly expect to be employed by a high-tech firm. Good day.' Stunned, the man leaves Not knowing where to turn and having $10 in his wallet, he walks past a farmers' market and sees a stand selling 25 lb. crates o f beautiful red tomatoes. He buys a crate, carries it to a busy corner and displays the tomatoes. In less than 2 hours he sells all the tomatoes and makes 100% profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends up with almost $100 and arrives home that night with several bags of groceries for his family. During the night he decides to repeat the tomato business the next day. By the end of the week he is getting up early every day and working into the night. He multiplies his profits quickly. Early in the second week he acquires a cart to transport several boxes of tomatoes at a time, but before a month is up he sells the cart to buy a broken-down pickup truck. At the end of a year he owns three old trucks. His two sons have left their neighborhood gangs to help him with the tomato business, his wife is buying the tomatoes, and his daughter is taking night courses at the community college so she can keep books for him. By the end of the second year he has a dozen very nice used trucks and employs fifteen previously unemployed people, all selling tomatoes. He continues to work hard. Time passes and at the end of the fifth year he owns a fleet of nice trucks and a warehouse that his wife supervises, plus two tomato farms that the boys manage. The tomato company's payroll has put hundreds of homeless and jobless people to work. His daughter reports that the business grossed over one million dollars. Planning for the future, he decides to buy some life insurance. Consulting with an insurance adviser, he picks an insurance plan to fit his new circumstances. Then the adviser asks him for his e-mail address in order to send the final documents electronically. When the man replies that he doesn't have time to mess with a computer and has no e-mail address, the insurance man is stunned, 'What, you don't have e-mail? No computer? No Internet? Just think where you would be today if you'd had all of that five years ago!' 'Ha!' snorts the man. 'If I'd had e-mail five years ago I would be sweeping floors at Microsoft and making $5.35 an hour.' Which brings us to the moral of the story: Since you got this story by e-mail, you're probably closer to being a janitor than a millionaire. Sadly, I received it also
  11. I forgot where to look to see when it is time to renew membership. Can some one please give me a hand ? It would be nice if it was set up as an automatic e-mail about 2 weeks in advance. Then you just send the money Pay-Pal. Or maybe it already is ? Fuzzy
  12. Last week I called J&M about a headset that was way out of warranty (bought in '07) and that the upper portion of the cable's wire had broken internally. They told me to ship it to them and they would look at it and give me a repair cost. I sent it out Priority mail and in 2 days received an e-mail in the a.m. that they received. Another e-mail later that afternoon that they shipped back a NEW headset !!!! Received it today and I can tell you that their customer service was great. I was looking at a replacement cost of $170-ish. Thanks J&M !! BEER30
  13. A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the e-mail. Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read: To: My Loving Wife Subject: I've Arrived Date: July 19, 2010 I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was. P. S. Sure is freaking hot down here!!!!
  14. I am in possession of a copy of documents setting out the pay and allowances and health insurance benefirts for our federal legislators. I have locked this thread to preclude any political discussions This is simply to let those who may be interested in getting some facts that I can E-mail the documents to them.
  15. WRONG E-MAIL ADDRESS This one is priceless. A lesson to be learned from Typing the wrong email address!! A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. 16. The following is an e-mail I sent out to several friends and family about sending and forwarding e-mails. If anyone wants to copy this and also send it to anyone, go for it. I hope it makes sense. RandyA My e-mail New Years Resolution This one is a little different and it is one I am also going to ask that you also do. You may notice that it looks like I just sent this to you only, when actually, I sent it to over ten people. The reason it looks this way is I put everyone's e-mail name/address in the BCC box rather than in the TO or CC box. I have been trying to do this for awhile, but a current post on my motorcycle web site about virus problems being associated with e-mails being passed around suggested the very same thing to keep them to a minimum. First of all, I want to say that I really do enjoy the e-mails that many of you send me. Some are inspirational, some are informative, some are really funny and some are downright naughty. I love them, but I have to say that when I open an e-mail and there is a history of many, many names and e-mail address being shown as to where it had been sent, it always concerns me. I know that my e-mail address is also being forwarded as part of the history. This is also how many of our e-mail addresses end up being part of a phishing expedition and how spam gets forwarded and how some of you got an e-mail that looked like it was sent from me recently trying to get you to buy Viagra. This is real simple and only takes a minute. When you forward an e-mail, highlight all those addresses and occasional comments and simply delete them. And, it also makes it look like I took the extra effort to send an e-mail to just YOU and you alone and don't that make you feel special? Thanks everyone and I hope you all are going to have as great of a New Year as I am planning on having!!
  17. Hiya again all! Stitch here, heading out on my first real good ride on my new (used) '86 VR, but ran into something today not encountered yet. The CLASS worked once when I tried it and I haven't tried it since until today cause I know I need to do front fork seals next week. Anyway... I put the ign into ACC tonight and the whole darn display lit up (all of the functions illuminated at the same time) and it's "flickering"... checked connections quickly and everything looks good on the back, no error codes, and it hasn't been played with since I bought it except once... I'm and bit baffled. Also if anyone could please e-mail me the link someone sent me last week of a good source for parts i.e. windscreen I would greatly appreciate it (I can't find the thread again...Eeeek!) Well gotta run back out to the garage and see if I can tinker with it a bit and get it figured out while I wait for the real answer from someone... wish me luck! Kelly
  18. I'm going back to 2 wheels and need three more oem parts...the muffler stays....anyone still have theirs..if so e-mail me at long_black_train@cableone.net....THANKS IN ADVANCE....Carl....
  19. .ExternalClass DIV{;} To all my friends. It is such a shame that an Americian company would do something like this. I have always watched WSB, it has been my channel of choice, but no more. I have E-Mailed all of you in hopes that you too would send WSB an E-Mail protesting this and discontinue watching them. Their E-Mail address is talk2us@wsbtv.com and they need to know that most of us still love America, and appriciate what it has given us, and all the live's that have been given and continue to be given are not in vain. If they hate Americia they need to go bankrupt, and I as one will do all I can to help that happen. I sent my E-Mail to them and I hope you will also. Subject: ABC bans flag lapel pins ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS Barbara Walters said that this was going to hurt ABC bad. As you know she works for ABC. This should make your blood boil.... it DOES mine! ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS! YESTERDAY THE BRASS AT ABC NEWS ISSUED ORDERS FORBIDDING REPORTERS TO WEAR LAPEL PIN AMERICAN FLAGS OR OTHER PATRIOTIC INSIGNIA. THEIR REASONING WAS THAT ABC SHOULD REMAIN NEUTRAL ABOUT 'CAUSES'. SINCE WHEN IS SUPPORT FOR PREVENTING DEATH AND DESTRUCTION SOME SORT OF A 'CAUSE'? SINCE WHEN IS PATRIOTISM TO BE DISCOURAGED? I URGE YOU TO BOYCOTT ABC AND ITS SPONSORS AND AFFILIATES. WE ARE SLOWLY LOSING EVERYTHING OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR AND EVERYTHING OUR MEN AND WOMEN FOUGHT AND DIED TO PRESERVE! PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN. 20. Subject: Fwd: Fw: [GBRTK9] Fw: Virus coming!! READ ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM Hi All, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus! I checked Snopes, and it is for real. Get this E-mail message sent around to all your contacts ASAP. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS! You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardles s of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C drive of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address on his/her contact list. That is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it! If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even if it is sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept. COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US
