  1. A must see. They are from right here in burlington. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NF2edxy-M]Somebody That I Used to Know - Walk off the Earth (Gotye - Cover) - YouTube[/ame]
  2. On Oct. 29th I ordered some parts online and waited and waited. Their add said 6 to 10 bussiness days for shipping. After waiting for 18 days and no parts I sent them an e-mail and the reply I got was to check the terms and conditions. Well I sent e-mail #2 and reminded them what their terms and conditions read. Got back same reply. I tried calling them but the # that is on the add is one that you have to have a code to dial to talk to a human. Which they don't give out in their add. So I decided to look on google earth to see if there was something that they were hiding. Sure enough, they were a dealership and they had a different phone number on the add that is online for the store. I gave it a try and actually got an answer. It was the sales desk and they did some checking and found that my parts were there and should have been sent to me over a week ago. The guy told me that the parts mgr wasn't there but would have him call me back the next day. No phone call. But, I got an e-mail last night stating that my parts would be shipped on Monday 2 day air. If not for google earth I would still be trying to figure out which headhunter (er... Venturerider) to send after them.

  5. The massive 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile may have changed the entire Earth's rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet, a NASA scientist said Monday. The quake, the seventh strongest earthquake in recorded history, hit Chile Saturday and should have shortened the length of an Earth day by 1.26 milliseconds, according to research scientist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "Perhaps more impressive is how much the quake shifted Earth's axis," NASA officials said in a Monday update. The computer model used by Gross and his colleagues to determine the effects of the Chile earthquake effect also found that it should have moved Earth's figure axis by about 3 inches (8 cm or 27 milliarcseconds). The Earth's figure axis is not the same as its north-south axis, which it spins around once every day at a speed of about 1,000 mph (1,604 kph). The figure axis is the axis around which the Earth's mass is balanced. It is offset from the Earth's north-south axis by about 33 feet (10 meters). Strong earthquakes have altered Earth's days and its axis in the past. The 9.1 Sumatran earthquake in 2004, which set off a deadly tsunami, should have shortened Earth's days by 6.8 microseconds and shifted its axis by about 2.76 inches (7 cm, or 2.32 milliarcseconds). One Earth day is about 24 hours long. Over the course of a year, the length of a day normally changes gradually by one millisecond. It increases in the winter, when the Earth rotates more slowly, and decreases in the summer, Gross has said in the past. The Chile earthquake was much smaller than the Sumatran temblor, but its effects on the Earth are larger because of its location. Its epicenter was located in the Earth's mid-latitudes rather than near the equator like the Sumatran event. The fault responsible for the 2010 Chile quake also slices through Earth at a steeper angle than the Sumatran quake's fault, NASA scientists said.
  6. Earth quakes Tidal Waves What is going on Hey Annie stay away from the ocean.
  7. If you guys have not been on Google Earth lately, they have added street level for a lot of places and it is amazing how much is there. We took a ride over to Norris dam, north of Knoxville yesterday and while at work today, I loaded Google Earth on my new computer and went down some of the same country roads we were on yesterday. I also went around the world to Thailand and you can see the bunkers where the F-4 Phantoms were parked that are still there. This was at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base where I was stationed in '72. Just amazing. RandyA
  8. Greetings all! I have a small issue I would like to lay on the table. I have a new Zumo 500 and the MapSource map/software for North America as well as Iceland installed on my computer as well on my memory card in the Zumo. Have been planing some routes from Woodstock twn,NY to Oberlin OH. for my trip to Freebirds Maintenance Day. When I make a route on the map that is stored in my computer I can push a button that says "open in Google Earth". No problem there - it opens in Google Earth but the route does not follow the roads. Just straight lines from each trackpoint to another that I had made in the MapSource. Doesn´t help much if I want to take a ride in 3D on Google Earth to see the landscape I will be riding through. Does anybody know if there is a way around this to make the route follow the roads in Google Earth, previously trackpointed in the MapSource map? Then again - Maybe this is not compatible???? Note that transferring the routes from the computer to my Zumo is no problem and works just fine. Hope you get my drift!
  9. An early morning round up (4AM) of 3 cows and 4 horses....and it was NOT fun getting them all rounded up and back into the pasture. I am firmly convinced that there is no animal on this earth more stupid than a Holstein cow...........The 200,000 volt electric fence goes up this weekend.
  10. The last time I tried Google, it showed a vacant field where my house is. I don't know if they have updated their maps or now. I just tried Live Earth though and it is showing pictures within the last couple of years. Here is the one of my place. Luckily it was taken while those pond monsters were present. My Place
