  1. WHAT???? You let him take MY BIKE? We have to TALK! The only problem I had with it was that I needed sunglasses when I rode it because it is so bright.
  2. I would absolutely be checking the repair. You said it worked for about a week after you did it. That would lead me to be highly suspect that the repair failed.
  3. Thanks folks. I will be in Dubois at least for tonight, maybe all week, won't know for sure until I get there. Earl, thanks for the invitation and if I see that I'm going to have the time, I'll get in touch and try to at least stop by for a visit. Ric, I may well show up tonight for Wings. Mel, trade shows never leave me any time for visiting and the company sends somebody from the home office to help out and I always have to take them to dinner and etc. I was staying right downtown. Gave my keys to the valet at the hotel and didn't even see my car again until Saturday.
  4. Yep...took a load of trash to the dump early last Monday morning. Ten foot trailer piled high.
  5. Just go to Jake Wilson and to the Avon Venom page. Then select your bike and model from the drop down menu and it shows you which tires you need. It will list TWO for the back, go with the 80H series. It has a higher load rating.
  6. I too am a fan of the Avons. Now, the ones are my bike are about 2 years old and I haven't gotten to ride much the past two years due to health issues and they probably have less than 6 thousand miles on them. The sidewalls are cracked on the front and rear to the point that I don't trust them for any significant trips. Still, I am so impressed with the way they handle that I ordered another set of Avons earlier this week. I ordered them from Jake Wilson and should be here on Tuesday. I almost went with the E3 but I've heard too many reports that they are a little noisy. Avon claims that they have resolved the cracking issue so we'll see. The fact is though, if I had been able to ride like I used to, I would have worn them out before the cracking issue became a problem.
  7. Seems I've hardly been able to catch my breath since maintenance day. Had just enough time on Sunday evening and Monday morning to sort of get things put away and then had to leave for Indianapolis to set up for a trade show. The show lasted through Saturday at 4:00 and then by the time I got the booth torn down and packed up and made the 5 hour drive home, I got here about 11:30 last night. Now I'm home today but have to leave for a week in the DuBois and State College area of Pennsylvania first thing tomorrow morning. I tell you, I am really tired of the constant travel and would love to find a good job that would allow me to be home every night but in this economy and at my age, that's not likely so "I owe, I owe so off to work I go". Due to the show and etc., haven't been on much since maintenance day but hopefully things will start calming down a bit now. I did manage to get two new tires ordered this week and called Chad at Pioneer to take advantage of the good deal that he is offering on brake pads so they are on the way to me also. I intended to pick them up while he was here but completely forgot about them. Looks like it's going to rain here today so about all I can do is stay in the house and rest. I'm not too disappointed in that.
  8. Here is a link that I found in a search where somebody else here bought them. http://www.aftermarketcyclepartsnation.com/Drag-Specialties-RECTANGULAR-TWIN-MARKER-LIGHTS-detail.htm?productId=7724779&catalogId=&searchProducts=2040-0299
  9. Brad, I'm not sure but I THINK that Rick at Buckeye use to carry those lenses. You might want to check with him.
  10. That's great news Tom. I'm glad to hear that they have arrived safely and we look forward to seeing them also.
  11. DUH...THANK YOU Jeff. I knew it had to be somewhere and that I had seen it before but I absolutely couldn't remember where it was. Now there is NOT the same option for confirmation settings and that is the one that I had to change to checked by default.
  12. I believe the pin configuration is the same but I don't think the '99 has anything with the same connector that plugs into the amp.
  13. hmmmm....I'm not sure then. I always thought that it stayed checked unless you unchecked it until he told me that his was unchecked. I can make it default either way but only one way or the other and most seem to want it defaulted to checked form past conversations.
  14. OK....I replied to this and then realized that I had forgotten that it IS possible to have them NOT save in your sent folder. When you send a private message, whether it's the initial message or you are replying to a message, scroll down before you click "send" and you'll see that there is a box to check if you want to save a copy in your sent items folder. Make sure it is checked. Once you check it, it will remember your preference and stay checked for the next time and until you turn it off.
  15. I'm out of town right now but will try to look at the wiring schematics when I get home late tonight or tomorrow and see if I can come up with any other suggestions.
  16. I received this message from an ex-venturerider who sold his bike over a year ago. He remembered though that some of our members had been members of the Virago club and some may have known Mike Vehovic. Don, Hi, it's been over a year since I sold my Venture so I'm not sure what's happening on the forum but I know that some of your members were also part of the Virago Owners Club (VOC). We lost a brother this week in a tragic accident, Mike Vehovic from the Indiana PA area. It's suspected that a medical condition contributed to this, as Mike was a very safe rider. Perhaps you can let your members know as some of them may have known Mike. http://www.indianagazette.com/a_police_courts/article_8a4fa2b2-c1c5-5be9-ae59-134bdb564945.html The VOC members are in stunned shock over this. He was a good man, a good family man, and a good friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Mike Vehovic, R.I.P.
  17. If it holds up OK, that sounds like a great deal. That's a LOT cheaper than the Works shock which is the only other adjustable shock that I know of. The Hagon has been discussed here a few times but I think you may be the first that has actually tried one. Please keep us updated on how it works out for you.
  18. Very good. Lot's of great shots.
  19. Yes, it's very simple to replace. Some of the..actually maybe all of the...aftermarket mufflers don't use the gasket but it is required with the stock mufflers.
  20. Yes, it's just the gasket. If it's missing, did you look on the header pipe? It could have stayed on it. To be honest, I've never seen them come apart like that but it shouldn't be a big deal.
  21. The .pdf is great for people that don't have Microsoft Excel but if you have Excel, it is actually better because you can sort it the way that you wish. By state, city, etc.
  22. No, that is the latest one right now. I plan to update it over the next week or so.
  23. Very nice. You got some great shots. I really like the videos also. We don't see many of those.
  24. Re-jetting is absolutely not necessary. I've run exhausts that were stock, modified stock, Samson, Khromewerks, Road King and then to stock again and none required that I re-jet the carbs. Most of the folks that I know who have been talked into re-jetting have seen decreases in performance and in fuel efficiency.
  25. Great job. We need more of these type videos. Thank you for taking the time.
